  1. I don't use the auto refill lines for my kids scripts. I always call them, asks for a full UNOPENED bottle (we've been lucky that his asthma meds come in a 30 pill bottle and his other pill is synthroid which is $12 for a full bottle of 100 and lasts us 9 months) and tell them the exact brand I need. I also always double check when I pick it up as well. ...
  2. -Cereal -Rice crackers (I do two regular rice plus one Mary's Gone Crackers Original) -Tortilla chips -Potato chips These are the standbys here. I take all the crumbs/dregs from the bottom of chip/cracker bags and throw them into a big bag in the freezer. When it's full I run it all through the processor too.
  3. I'm sure it depends on each hospitals procedure. I get copies of all blood work when we are there or they send it to me. Again, that's at our hospital.
  4. Dr. Fassano has 5 criteria for a dx. You need to meet 4 of the 5 and for two of those the patient needs to be consuming gluten for. It sounds like you really need to get into a GI doc. As stated, if you need accommodations for schools and that stuff, you need a dx.
  5. Honestly, at 3 I couldn't/wouldn't expect my kid to say no to treats. My DS has been dealing with food allergies and Celiac since he was 14 months old. At that age they really are too little to know what's up. I wouldn't have left DS at all. He did story time at that age after I had a very long and detailed discussion with the teacher. I did not ever leave...
  6. I'm sorry, I don't at all understand your question.
  7. Sorry it slays you. If it can kill you in minutes from even trace ingestion, sorry, it is a worst thing. I'm not saying intolerances shouldn't be treated accordingly. They do hurt people and make them ill and maybe over time can kill them. Calling it an allergy is irresponsible, incorrect and dangerous to those with actual allergies. Just as saying you...
  8. Good luck. I have the same argument with people claiming intolerances are the same as allergies. Sure, lactose makes your tummy hurt. It can kill my child. So not the same thing.
  9. Never had an issue with DS at Chipotle with gluten. It's one of our goto spots!
  10. My 5 yo son had high numbers until his Hashi's was dx (thanks to people here suggesting thyroid work ups). After 3 months on synthroid his tTG's went from 36 to undetectable. He had been on a gluten-free diet for 3 years before we go this all under control. Good luck!
  11. We did it for a few years without issue. We had the designated "gluten-free" counter and the other counter. I never baked with wheat flour after DS was dx, too much flying stuff in the air to settle everywhere else. I made sure everything where gluten was consumed was cleaned immediately after (which is one reason we are now all gluten-free I cleaned more...
  12. My son is also dairy allergic (along with a slew of others) and it is one of three places we are comfortable taking him! Glad you found a safe option that works for you!
  13. I don't think contacting Disney would help as I don't believe they are anything other than a location for the vendor. I know many many people as well who have gone to many of the Babycakes stores with no issues. I know they are pretty strict with things from calls I have made.
  14. Has your little one beed dx with a wheat allergy? Not all Mom's pass proteins through breastmilk. I would continue to nurse your little one through this unless there is a life threatening wheat allergy which I would be surprised if you did have a dx of that this young. Hugs and keep up the good work!
  15. I have a great mac and cheese recipe for you. Free of gluten, dairy, egg, peanut and tree nuts. I can send it to your inbox if you are interested.
  16. I would have a serious talk with him about how he needs the blood test to see if gluten is the problem cause the issues. explain once he gets the test you can try and help him feel better. Ask what he's worried about. Accept his fears and try and figure out what would help him cope better. Maybe ask the Dr or lab techs what you can do to ease his fears...
  17. Gluten isn't absorbed through the skin. That would be why the GI said that. That said, I know my DS is a finger sucker and ALWAYS had his fingers in his mouth. THAT is where the issue would be, actual ingestion from things like finger/thumb sucking, girls with long hair sucking on it. Hygiene to a 6 yo isn't the same as with us! lol
  18. My DS was gluten free for 3 months with no real improvement. I put him on a really good probiotic and within 3 day he had the first normal 1poops of his 3.5 years. Maybe try a probiotic?? Good luck. It's so tough to figure things out.
  19. Allergy testing like that (testing for a slew of things when there isn't any OBVIOUS allergy like immediate hives, breathing issues and that kind of thing) so I don't get why this famous Dr. would test like that which leads me to my conclusion of.... 1) Find a new Dr. who WILL test. Any first degree relatives need to be tested every 3-5 years OR sooner...
  20. Where is she on HER growth curve? That is the important part. As long as she's following her curve, I wouldn't be overly concerned at all. I know our Dr. was worried about DS's weight and we wee sent to a (useless) dietitian. But he's following HIS patterns.
  21. I take 4000 IU and my kids take 2000 IU and the baby takes 1000 IU. I am thinking the baby can move up to 2000 IU now that he's over 1.
  22. So he's had 2 blood testes that are + and a family history. He's got Celiac. I would never put my kid through an endoscopy when the facts are clear. If the GI is willing to officially dx. based on all this, take the dx and get the kid gluten-free. He'll learn in time what eating gluten does to him if he chooses not to follow the diet. Also, as Mom you...
  23. If it was not immediate, it would be considered an intolerance. As stated, it very well could be a dairy issue because of Celiac damage or a dairy intolerance all of it's own.
  24. "Typically" the medical grade lactose is so highly processed and refined it isn't an issue for MOST people. There are a few out there though that do.
  25. I would think you would need him on a full gluten diet to get proper results. The thing is, if he'll be in traditional school and you need/expect accommodations for that you will need a confirmed dx. Also, if he vomits when drinking milk, you should really consider seeing an allergist for dairy testing. Allergic reactions can start "small" with vomiting...
