  1. I so agree....... I feel like I spend my life in the kitchen and like jestgar wonder what it was like years ago, but then am thankful for things like micros and all of the convience that we do have. I feel like I should put on a stupid apron & change my name to Donna Reed or something. I have never liked cooking and now with no choice.... grrr. ...
  2. My sister-in-law brings gluten treats when she comes to visit and it drives me nuts. But... only 1 (me) out of 3 of us in the house are gluten-free so I try to be understanding but my stomach churns. I spend the entire 3 days she is here following behind with my bottle of spray cleaner and wiping up after everyone. I tend to be rather OCD about gluten anyway...
  3. I'm not trying to sound mean but if a piece of food is worth risking your health & possibly (in the long run) your life then have at it. There are too many things in life that are worth far more than food.
  4. We have a new support group in Hemet, Ca that just started a few months ago & we're growing. We meet the second Saturday of every month at 9:30 a.m. at the Red Robin in Hemet (entrance to the side door). You can contact Jenny at 951-288-5999 for more info. Red Robin has been great to us - we can even order before they open to the the public.
  5. Hope you are still checking this thread because we have a new support group in Hemet that just started a few months ago & we're growing. We meet the second Saturday of every month at 9:30 a.m. at the Red Robin in Hemet (entrance to the side door). You can contact Jenny at 951-288-5999 for more info.
  6. Our local celiac support group meets once a month at Red Robin. They open at 9:30 just for us and we can order our meal before they open so the entire kitchen is nice & clean! They have both a day and a night server that have been trained and completely understand Celiac - to the point of telling us what we can and can't have. So far.... great. I...
  7. I can't imagine why your friend would even consider eating anything with gluten. From my experience and accidental glutening soon after going gluten-free made me sick for only one evening. Now, 15 months later,an accidental glutening will make me sick for a week or more. My point - everyone is different in how they respond to gluten. Some people know if...
  8. I have been to Red Robin in 3 different states and several different towns and have had a great experience each time. Staff all understand Celiac and do go out of their way to take care with a gluten-free meal. All of the Red Robin's do have separate fryers and clean the work stations. If you ever have doubts ask for the manager and they go overboard to...
  9. Hope you are still watching this board as we have a new group in Hemet. We meet at Red Robin the 2nd Saturday of every month at 9:30. We are just getting started and so far the group is growing! Jenny is in charge. PM me for her phone number. Red Robin in Hemet has gluten-free fries & other selections on their menu. Two of the servers are gluten-free...
  10. I agree with Korwyn. The thought makes me sick to the tummy. I have no desire of any kind to (knowingly) eat anything with gluten. I can walk down the bread aisle and not feel tempted - it's nauseating. Actually the longer I am gluten-free (15 months now) the less I crave any kind of sweets. I fund that I crave veggies & fruits. There must be something...
  11. Outback honey mustard is soo good. I can all but drink the stuff!
  12. you were right. Better to hurt feelings at the start than to get sick. Most people don't think or know about the CC issues. They think that if the package says gluten-free then it's good to go. They bake stuff in their regular pans.... toooo risky! I was at a Farmer's Fair where they had gluten-free cookies on the same tray as the regular cookies all...
  13. Lowes & Home Depot have a spray that you can use to remove wallpaper. Spay, let it soak and scrape it off ( and scrape some more). I did an entire bathroom. Ah, correction.... I sprayed the stuff and my son scraped!
  14. Dial can be a little rough on your skin just because it has always seemed to be a little bit of a more abrasive soap. Maybe try something a little more gentle like Dove?
  15. Hello ~ I'm 60 and celiac!
  16. I have been on 2 Prilosec a day for over a year & half. Knowing how bad they can be for you over the long haul I have tried to wean off but every time the acid has become so much worse, feels like pure acid pouring down my throat. Three weeks ago I started to take pure liquid Aloe, 2 oz two x's a day and have weaned down to just one Prilosec a day....
  17. Gluten free kitchen. I am the only gluten-free out of 3 of us but since I cook it's my way. They have one small refrig drawer, one small shelf in the bottom of the pantry & must keep any gluten on one small part of the counter. It works since 95% of the food is gluten-free. I look at it this way - I am the one that runs the risk of getting sick,...
  18. lol. Cheers mushroom! Here's to old age.
  19. do you drink one orange worth? I am running out for oranges as we speak as I also have trouble with chromic constipation.
  20. I would never ever cheat. It would just negate all of the work I've done to be gluten free. If the two of you have children they are at risk for being celiac and I am if she would have trouble coping with a celiac child.
  21. I sure hope we live past 60. I am 60 now, diagnosed at 59 and health is returning slowly but steadily. I will admit that I was so darn sick that I was scared I wouldn't make it to 60 so I stayed up till 12:01 on my b'day just to be sure! I now feel so good that I intend to pack on quite a few more years doing what I love - hiking, camping & kayaking...

Thanks. I have to go to the health food store tomorrow so will look for it.
  23. Tocopherol acetate ~ Well, this does not make me smile. I didn't know about this one! Also I use hand wipes on the tables at restaurants all the time. Guess I need to rethink those as well. grrrrrr

    ARCHIVED Endometriosis?

Do you take it in pill form or ? My mother and I had endro which didn't stop till a hysterectomy. My daughter has it and struggles every month. She is not gluten-free and isn't very inclined to go that way at this time. Has no other symptoms other than the endro so just looking for some natural relief for her.
