  1. You didn't stop eating gluten before the negative TTG test did you?
  2. Do us a favor and keep him!
  3. Yes try going off gluten no matter what the biopsy says. You may be in the process of developing celiac, with the antibodies but not a lot of damage accumultated yet. Also, the underlying problem behind your pancreatic issues is probably celiac disease.
  4. Welcome to the forum. Your test results don't make much sense since gliadin is the main protein in gluten. The best way to find out if you're gluten sensitive is to stop eating gluten and see if you feel better.
  5. You need to get a lot more details from this herbalist on the so-called liver disorder. He should be able to provide you with enough information to go research it on your own. I am skeptical because inborn errors in fatty acid metabolism have severe and sometimes fatal symptoms, not a little "liver congestion." The most common metabolic defect that might...
  6. It's only three days. If I were you, I'd pack an ice chest full of safe food for the trip. Hotels usually have ice so you can keep your food cold pretty easily. If you can find a hotel room with a microwave it will make things easier, but you could even get a cheap, small microwave at WalMart or Sears to bring with you. I've seen them on sale as low as...
  7. Yes, I get a "hangover" when I'm glutened. I wake up and I'm so foggy and fatigued I don't want to get out of bed. I find it amusing that you consider feeling drunk after 2-3 drinks to be "intolerance." I consider feeling drunk after 2-3 drinks totally normal.
  8. Oh, bummer. Sorry you're feeling ill. Lays Stax are your best bet for gluten-free chips. They are manufactured on dedicated lines. I'm turning into a food hippie too. I'm on GAPS and it's so restrictive about the only processed foods I'm eating are Larabars. I'm headed into work today with homemade carrot puree soup, homemade pickled beets,...
  9. I didn't realized there was any question of starting the diet before the biopsy. I agree that's a bad idea. My point was to trial the diet no matter what the biopsy results are. I am in diagnosis limbo as well. I figured out my gluten sensitivity on my own quite a few years ago. It was well before celiac was all over the news. I had no idea I couldn...
  10. Don't start a trial diet until all testing is completed, including the endoscopy. You need accurate testing for your son's sake. You might ask your Dr. for a GI referral since he's being so slow and not talking to you.
  11. Thanks, though grain-free/casein-free is a bit of a pain. Today a slice of coconut flour bread with half a banana, coffee with honey. coconut bread recipe is here: Open Original Shared Link
  12. IHOP is scary. They even put pancake batter in the omelets.
  13. This is a 2-year old thread. I doubt the author is checking it for help any longer. Bswillis, welcome and may I suggest you start a new thread?
  14. Here is how the biopsy works and what they look for. Open Original Shared Link There is a nice eZine article by Scot Lewey but I can't post the link because it's blocked here. If you go to e z i n e a r t i c l e s dot com (Sheesh. Retarded spam filter. Take out the spaces.) and search for "Scot Lewey Biopsy" it will pull up some really nice articles...
  15. What Karen said and yes it could be celiac. Gluten and milk intolerance go hand in hand.
  16. It's VERY hard to help with all the info broken into different threads. She has posted all the reference ranges and flags in another thread... As you know, the lab DID make a mistake and if your Dr. is any good, he is trying to figure out what happened. High doesn't mean anything with celiac antibodies anyway. Serum antibody levels are very poorly correlated...
  17. As was I...until my health turned around dramatically with probiotics, coconut oil, and a candida cleanse herbal preparation a few years back. I'm a believer now. Seriously, get the GAPS book. It will blow your mind. Besides, even the docs at Mayo & Hopkins know full well they'd better offer women diflucan along with antibiotics because otherwise we...
  18. If you do not start him on the gluten-free diet no matter the biopsy results, you are missing out on an opportunity to heal him. Doctors miss non-celiac gluten intolerance all the time; most are not even aware it exists. Sure the diet is hard, but it has a pretty high chance of working given his genetics, his extremely celiac-looking symptoms, and your...
  19. Yes, it's possible you have celiac disease and yes a biopsy makes sense. One in four celiacs have negative blood tests. There is also non-celiac gluten intolerance, which can make you feel just as awful and ill as celiac but it doesn't do as much damage for doctors to see and measure. Once your GI referral and testing is done, do give the gluten-free diet...
  20. You may be going through a little withdrawal. Gluten and casein are processed into opiate peptides in your digestive system and if you had intestinal damage, they were getting into your bloodstream. Suddenly taking them away can be a bit of a shock to the system as you basically go through a mild narcotic withdrawal. I bet you're craving them too. Hang...
  21. One in four celiacs comes up negative on the blood tests. It really sounds like you need to start your son on the gluten-free diet and see if it helps his symptoms.
  22. If it's all carbs and refined sugar that get you, it's probably bacterial imbalance and/or excess yeast in your gut. You might stop eating them entirely for a while and really focus on getting more bacteria into your diet with live sauerkraut, kefir, and good probiotics. Have a look at the GAPS diet. 23. Did your biopsy go back to normal off gluten? If so, you're celiac. If you never had a followup biopsy to confirm healing off gluten you won't much from re-glutening yourself.
  24. A lot of us have trouble with dairy and soy. Try eliminating both from your diet completely. I'm feeling a lot better on the Open Original Shared Link as well. GAPS eliminates unfermented soy, dairy (until you heal), all grains, starchy vegetables, and refined sugar and heals the gut with broth and probiotics.
  25. It sounds like you have a wheat allergy as well as gluten intolerance/celiac and stopping eating wheat has desensitized you. Sometimes allergies can be to raw food vs. cooked. It also might be that you get a lot more flour on your skin when you bake compared to setting bread on a plate.
