    ARCHIVED Vemma

Yeah, I had to search a bit to find it too. On the Vemma.com website, click on the individual product tab (i.e., Vemma, Next, etc.). Look just a bit directly below the Account Login link. There's a Product Fact Sheet on each tab.
  2. You've made me think how lucky I am. I used to take note of everyone else walking around, so jealous that they apparently weren't feeling dizzy or apprehensive like me. I used to sit with others and be envious that nobody seemed to be going through life experiencing the brain fog that I was. I used to ingest preservatives and food dyes and processed junk...

    ARCHIVED Vemma

First, on the natural flavoring: I am always suspect of natural flavoring listed in any food that does not specifically state "gluten free". I would guess that many things listed as natural flavor could certainly be free of gluten, but it sounds too much like a catch-all to me, so I don't take the chance. Cocaine is all natural too, and so is wheat, but...
  4. This info is so helpful!!! And thanks so much for the synopsis of the links in everyday speak! Appreciate that!

    ARCHIVED Vemma

Went on the website and noticed the kid's version called NEXT states it is gluten free, but the adult version, VEMMA, does not. Would need to check on that. I'm always worried when they say natural flavors in ingredients.
  6. Hearing that is so encouraging to me, since the ONLY thing I missed dairy-wise is cheese on a pizza. So far, I'm just eating natural foods, but when I'm ready to try gluten free goodies, like pizza dough, it would be nice to see if I can tolerate a little melty mozzarella cheese...just a little!
  7. Headache-y/ weird heavy sensation in my head, bloated and rumbly tummy, acidic stomach, sweating/ racing heart. I had these symptoms for many years. Blood testing showed OK with lactose so kept on eating dairy over the years, never putting everything together. Testing a few months ago showed I am sensitive to casein, and since I have eliminated...

    ARCHIVED Funny But Sad

On the menu was, I kid you not, "deep fried gluten, tastes like meat". Warning!!! Red flag!!! Gross! How about a barley sandwich on whole wheat!!!!!!! With an ambulance on the side.
  9. I've read that those who are intolerant to gluten may develop plaque in the brain. I'm not a doctor and I may be offbase here, but common sense would tell me that plaque on my gray matter could definitely result in brain fog, dizziness, etc. I can't find the link, but I recall also reading that the plaque could lessen (at least) when gluten is removed...
  10. Any thoughts as to what pregnancy does that temporarily rids you of the neurological symptoms? Increased blood flow in the body? Hormones? Pregnancy vitamins? I'm really intrigued about this. Not that I'd be willing to try it, nor could I. Just wondering if any conclusions have been drawn by this happening.
  11. Dizziness and brain fog were my main symptoms before I went gluten-free. I agree strongly with the advice to remain processed food/preservative free, and I have read that it could take a year or even longer, depending on you, to feel normal neurologically. I am less than 3 months into it, have been eating only meats, veggies, some fruit and raw honey, and...
  12. Sorry, I'll not be too much help here. With the dog sick, I am thinking food poisoning, but I gather your sister ate the wrap as well and thinking you'd have mentioned if she got sick too. Otherwise, the soy seems to be the biggest contender. Another clue is that you actually threw it up, instead of your usual symptoms of being CC'd or glutened, so...
  13. There was an earlier segment, or perhaps something different in my Central time zone, an interview with a "correspondent", not sure of nutrition or medical credentials - but her talk was about why celebrities are going gluten free to lose weight!!!! I had to laugh because if I ate all the gluten free goodies they had on that table, the flours and cookies...
  14. I am wondering if these people have been tested or if they just decide they want to drop gluten from their diets. I explained to someone at work recently that I wasn't eating any birthday cake for a co-worker because I could not eat gluten, and she replied, "Oh yeah! That's the latest craze, huh?" And that made me think. Truth is, I have only been...
  15. Thanks so much for this info.
  16. Reading your story, I can understand why you are so passionate about this, and I agree with you when you present that you are entitled to voice your opinion or decide what disease YOU personally have. I also agree that had I not taken gluten out of my diet, I could have developed celiac disease, cancer, etc, if my system was pre-disposed. Totally agree...
  17. Whoa, that's an excellent point. I work in life insurance and I can't believe I didn't think of that.
  18. Went back through my research notes. Here is a good link from the American Celiac Disease Alliance that explains the difference between Celiac Disease, gluten intolerance and wheat allergy. Open Original Shared Link
  19. But if I did a stool test and it showed that I was genetically intolerant to gluten, does this mean I have celiac disease??? I am not being argumentative, I am asking simply because I want to know.
  20. So, wait. You're saying that even though I am still testing OK to absorbing nutrients, that I nonetheless have celiac disease? That anyone who is intolerant of gluten is to the point where they have celiac disease?
  21. Please don't miss my point: that you can NOT have celiac disease, but still have severe symptoms from ingesting gluten.
  22. I'm so glad you do not have celiac disease. But neither do I, however gluten and casein make me dizzy and anxious and distress my intestines, as evidenced by the same BM problems you note. All of that cleared up once gluten/casein were eliminated. I had a blood test seven years ago when I first started with my "mystery symptoms" and it showed I had NO...
  23. Perhaps it is a hot flash, but I've run hot all my life. Always hotter than everybody else; so much so that for years I feared going through menopause figuring I'd probably spontaneously combust!!!! - but that came and went and I have yet to have a true hot flash as described by all of my contemporary friends. Here's the weird thing about grocery stores...
  24. When I first went gluten/casein free, the woozy, weird, the-earth-is-moving-but-I'm-not feeling was my cue that I had ingested something reactive. Although the dizzy feeling made me nervous to eat anything new, it also proved to be an excellent quick gauge. I never had to wait hours or longer to know that I shouldn't eat something again; all I had to do...
  25. Last December my Vitamin D level was at about a 3, which is horribly low. I am sure someone here knows the correct normal level, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but I think somewhere between 40-50 is normal. So, in any event a level of 3 really sucked! Well, couldn't tolerate the supplements the doctor prescribed, took 1 a week for 2 weeks...
