  1. My DH wasn't itchy most of the time. As I got older it itched more and more but I'd only have flair ups once every few weeks and never even put the two together for the longest time.
  2. Sugar and gluten are your most likely culprits. Sugar messes with magnesium uptake, among other things, if I recall (Been a while since I read up on sugar) and of course gluten is the Devil and messes with everything. Could be as simple as adding some almonds to your diet! Elimination diet is a good plan.
  3. Check into Magnesium and other deficiencies, I'm betting there is a link between the body bleeding out all these nutrients and making a new lining and headaches etc... Might be as simple as adding some almonds to your day.
  4. Hi Liz, You are right. Gluten is bad news for everyone. No one can digest this stuff and it is at the root cause of the three leading causes of death in this country. Check out Open Original Shared Link They have many more you may find interesting and their 2010 Celiac Forum DVD is worth it's weight in gold. I have yet to meet someone, regardless...
  5. I go ahead and tell most folks if I see a connection. They all have one symptom or another. Let them think I'm a crackpot I really don't care, but my conscious is clear then. And maybe the next time they hear it it won't be as "new" anymore and they will listen.
  6. A quick Google says your conditioner is ok. Your vitamins really may not be. A lot of vitamins have gluten in them. Post them here or do a Google search for them and the words gluten free and see if anything comes up. I should get chocolate back. Right now I am on a modified elimination diet for the next few months still to let my poor gut rest. Chocolate...
  7. Oooh! I really like this thread. It shows the positive side of this whole gluten fiasco. There are seven people in my life who are gluten free because of me. And that is just in the last few months. Many more folks are starting to open their eyes to this poison. It is the best feeling in the world to see them getting healthy, to see smiles on...
  8. If you are eating out frequently then you are probably getting hit. It may not be enough to set off problems in your intestine but it has been enough to set off the muscle pain and thyroid issues. Celiac is one manifestation of Gluten Intolerance. Hypo-thyroid, Muscle aches, Migraines, Depression etc...are others. What hand soap do you use? Also is your...
  9. Gotta rub in the chocolate ne? Can you post your conditioner? We can figure out if it has gluten in it. There is soy free chocolate out there. Just have to look for it. Enjoy Life makes a tasty chocolate bar and I love Jocalot Lara Bars. Because yes, even a little soy lechitin can mess you up, it depends on the person certainly but still. ...
  10. Strongyloides! That was the one my friend had. Vibrio made me bloated but no D. ? Not common but not unheard of either. I was always prone to C when I was younger...maybe the C&D canceled eachother out somehow? You pick vibrio up from seafood or saltwater.
  11. Come on now. Do you really think big Wheat is going down without a fight? Nope. They are going to make us out to be insane so the truth that gluten is at the root cause of the three leading causes of death in this country doesn't get out. They are going to keep printing this vacuous nonsense to create just enough doubt so that people happily go on eating...
  12. I used to get mega bloated after almost every meal. Turns out is was a bacterial infection called Vibrio at the heart of it. Also made me crave salt and sugar. You may want to find a competent Doctor to do a stool analysis and make sure this isn't your issue. From what I understand many folks with gluten issues have secondary infections. I had H-pylori...
  13. Just wanted to put a plug in for New Grist and Greene's Dark. Both are very tasty. Bards is good too, in fact I have yet to find a gluten-free beer I don't like... something about how they don't upset my stomach like gluten beer... but I think I'll stay clear of the unfortunately named Daura.
  14. I had a swollen thyroid, or goiter, for well over a decade after I was put on Thyroid meds and for pretty much as far back as I could remember. Had an ultrasound that ruled out cancer or nodules and was just told that my thyroid was enlarged and that was the way it is. I had no insurance either and ended up paying $800 for that little revelation in 2005....
  15. Hi Jocelyn, Some questions before I can help you. Are you truly gluten free? No gluten in your hand soap, hair/beauty products, living in a gluten free household? Where do you work? Have you checked the soap there, are you near a kitchen or bakery? Do you go to church? Checked the wafers? All of your symptoms tell me you may be getting gluten in...
  16. The first of many I'm sure and a positive step towards a gluten free planet.
  17. I read on another post you made that he is sensitive to airborne gluten. If you want his headaches and depression to get better I would suggest taking the whole house gluten free. No way a hyper can live in a gluten environment without feeling it. School is a whole different animal. I feel for you here because what can you do? Take him out? Homeschool...
  18. Just wanted to say thank you. When I first arrived here I read a post you wrote were you suggested thinking of gluten as poison, I've followed your suggestion, and I find it really helps. :)

  19. There is a product called D-Hist that I have been taking for the last few weeks whenever I get glutened. It helps significantly with the duration and severity of the symptoms but is not a cure by any means. For example I still get brainfog, but it is lessened and the headache is either nonexistant or light. I still move slowly and creakily but there...
  20. Disgusting. Not that I have eaten there in ages anyway well before going gluten-free but...yuck. Thanks for posting!
  21. You can just tell them you have Celiac or begin educating them on Gluten Sensitivity/Intolerance. It has to start somewhere and it isn't going to come from the pill pushers (Docs and T.V). This is a grassroots effort. My family has been skeptical and fascinated all at once. It is very bizarre. However I have had several friends go gluten free...
  22. Thanks! I am hopeful too. I have done searches on this site but didn't find anything of use. That being said I didn't spend a long time trying either. So much has cleared up going gluten-free so far that I figure the eyes will be a huge bonus if they clear up too. Your story is an inspiration! Way to perplex the Docs!
  23. Tingling in my hands and feet often occurs in me for two reasons. One my thyroid meds are off and two I got airborne glutened. (I am a hypersensitive). I am on liquid B12 and have been for a few months but my levels were scrapping the bottom so I'm starting on shots shortly. It will be interesting to see if that helps, I hadn't known about the connection...
  24. My husband has the same rash. It seemed to get worse on the underarms with certain deodorants but we have noticed since going gluten-free and working to fix his adrenals he no longer has this problem. Going gluten-free is the best test you can do, hands down. The ignorance and attitude of most Docs is appalling!
  25. Very cool. Definitely a step in the right direction. Open Original Shared Link anyone?
