  1. Gosh, yeah, the vomiting is bad - I have never done that. Sounds like you are being very careful too. It almost sounds like an allergic reaction more than the gluten intolerance, since with intolerance you can usually keep it down (it just goes straight through).
  2. I meant to answer your clinique question - I use their perfectly real foundation, some type of lip gloss and eye touch tints. I had to list the name and color of each though to get them to tell me if they were gluten-free. All of them were, but I would have to contact them again if I want to change colors or types. So I am switching to Bare Minerals when...
  3. I felt the same way, and I was getting gluten. I am also about 4 months in, felt good at first, and then got worse. I am apparently more sensitive to it than ever before. I was getting it from some frozen yogurt and who knows what else. I threw out all the shampoo with wheat, wash my hands more often now and cook my food first before I do anything with gluten...
  4. I'd money on your having it if I had money. I gained weight and was distended when I was feeling my worst before diagnosis. I had gained about 10-15 pounds. It is slowly, slowly coming off on the gluten-free diet, and it doesn't help that I seem to keep messing up without knowing it. I loved starting the diet because it meant starting to feel better...
  5. Stephanie, Have you gotten the results of your endo and colonoscopy yet? I was hoping so much for you that they would tell you something. Have you been tested for h. pylori and ulcers - that is what comes to mind with the stomach burning. How about overall allergy/intolerance testing with an elisa test - that is something I have always wanted to do.
  6. I have had 2 ruptured cysts - not sure if I have others - I have been on BC since the 2nd popped. I have heard that they are caused both from when they are not let go and just from when they are formed (a pocket of fluid results, which builds with each ovulation). The fluid-filled cysts are called functional and are not harmful to my knowledge unless they...

    ARCHIVED Skin Care

I still struggle with symptoms, so I have tossed all shampoos, conditioners and lotions that have wheat or oats, along with any questionable makeup. I don't regret it. I had never thought about nail polish, so I hope Bare Minerals has some cause my toe nails are gross! I am going to switch to all Bare Minerals cosmetics this week. I am learning that I am...
  8. Hi guys, My MRI was ok, thank goodness, but the reason I had it was one particularly horrible headache that made me want to die. It was likely a migraine, but I was wondering how many others of you have headaches from time to time like this, maybe when glutened (they said my ttg was still at 20). I don't get an aura - in fact I get no warning - they wake...
  9. I think it is connected to celiac disease - there is a chain on fibromyalgia or maybe it is "does anyone else have this" - one of those 2 - on the related disorders board where several people have talked about this. I have had this pain ever since I think Celiac started. I have only been gluten-free a few months, so I'm not sure if it will go away. I have...
  10. Thank you so much, Carrie, for starting this thread. I have had decreased engery and poop out way before other people who eat horrible and never workout. It has been extremely frustrating as people just assume I am weak or out of shape. I have been looking into finding out what else was wrong with me, but I am so glad to hear that this seems normal with celiac...
  11. Is your cereal special gluten-free cereal? If it is a main brand name, I can almost guarantee is it not gluten-free because of malt flavoring.
  12. Welcome! Gluten - free is all you need to worry about, and it should mean wheat free. Wheat free does not always mean gluten free, however, so be careful with that one. I felt better immediately, but certainly not 100%. It was a noticeable difference, but I think it is going to take a while (several more months in addition to the 4 already) for me to get...
  13. oh my god, I would live at that place! I would love to know for sure that I was gluten-free, and man are my muscles sore for no good reason! I recently had some trouble with relapse symptoms and could not figure out what it was - I have already realized that distilled things are a no go - instant nausea. I worried that I may be lactose intolerant now...
  14. My iron got so bad before celiac was found that I could not walk around the block. I would be absolutely exhausted. And I used to run. I was started on iron pills then (around March) and started the gluten-free diet in June. I stopped taking iron pills sometime in May I think. My iron levels have not dropped. In fact they are higher than they have ever been...
  15. I have all of your symptoms except I gained weight (especially size - perhaps distention) instead of losing. I have been gluten-free for a while but I am still healing. My doc is checking my adrenals, but it could all still just be celiac. I have had a few accidents with "natural flavors" having gluten. My muscles are SORE and my back pain feels like I'm...
  16. I haven't used either, but for some reason I bet I would pick York. Look into seeing if Great Smokies lab in NC does this too - might be cheaper but I don't know. I am tempted to get this tested as well so I know exactly what to avoid.
  17. No, I wasn't on meds - I should have said I had symptoms like hypo, but the numbers were always normal until lately - now they are going up, and I will likely be on meds soon. Hopefully that will correct itself though. My doc also thinks that a lot of my autoimmune symptoms are linked to adrenal problems (which then later cause thyroid trouble). We shall...
  18. Heather and Sandy, A great Celiac doc is in Travelers Rest, SC. Their Web site is paradocshealth.com, where you can fill out their registration form and questionairre and send it in with all your medical records. Dr. Deihl will go over it all and then if they think they can help (which they probably can), they will call you up. Dr. Diehl is a DO instead...
  19. You are probably asking the wrong bunch of people what is normal for poop! Yeah, if they used to sink and now float and are funny colors on gluten, I would say that is a strong indicator. I am surprised you were willing to go back on gluten. I don't think I could do it. My poop is different everyday after going gluten-free 4 months ago, but I have probably...
  20. Apparently YES! I had had some mild thyroid troubles before going gluten free and have been wondering all this time, isn't that supposed to get better, but it is getting worse. Then I wonder if maybe I am noticing it more since my intestines are more happy, but I don't think that's it. Headaches came back worse, fatique is often worse and muscle pain and...
  21. Yeah, you're a total trooper. That is high blood sugar - does insulin take care of sugar only when you eat it or when it is pumped into your veins I wonder. You have so many symptoms - I hope they do not plan on leaving you out to dry with that IBS crap. I find it so funny that so many distinguished MDs will roll their eyes at some things and do the quackwatch...
  22. I just wanted to update this thread one last time so that people searching IBS or archives would know the outcome. In April I drove to UNC Chapel Hill to participate in a research study on IBS that ran several tests that I would not have to pay for but would get copies of the results. They are still doing this study if you have been diagnosed with IBS and...
  23. I did not have classic celiac symptoms when I was diagnosed with severe damage. I have been gluten-free now for 4-5 months and suddenly starting have the big D very bad, even though I am gluten-free. I think I have become dairy intolerant as well, though that really, really sucks. It is only a temporary thing while I am just starting to absorb again? It...
  24. I have started getting lots of neurological symptoms after going gluten free. My doctor is looking into my adrenals. Something to look into if you haven't already.
  25. I'm not a doctor, and this doesn't look like a full Celiac Panel, but it looks like your son has gluten intolerance with no intestinal damage - yet. I would try going totally gluten free with him to see if you notice improvements.
