ARCHIVED Are Apples Gf?
jenvan replied to blueshift's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
hey there... i used to not be able to tolerate apples...i thought the acidity...but now i can with little issues. if they are bothering you it could be another issue, such as the acidity or fructose. is that the only fruit that bothers you? -
dick's gal-- as no gluten suggested...i think you should have your iron cked out. anemia can also make one feel week, and it can affect your heart as well. i had a heart murmur showing up while i was anemic. now that i have normal iron levels--no murmur. it might be worth a try. anemia is fairly common for celiacs too...

Jen- (I'm Jen too : ) I feel for you girl... I really have to push to get thru the week and take days when I can to recoup... but I guess I am a lucky one, being able to make it work most of the time. I feel guilt in my marriage at times as well. I feel like I read a disappointment from my husband But please don't feel guilty... you health has... -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed Celiac/uc Help!
jenvan replied to Maureen73's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Here is a favorite list of mine Kaiti posts--these companies will NOT hide any form of gluten in their foods--so if you ck the label and there is no gluten listed, it is okay. Not all companies are like this--some will hide gluten. these are mainstream products that will not hide anything. The following labels will list wheat, rye, barley, oats on the label... -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed Celiac/uc Help!
jenvan replied to Maureen73's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Maureen- I am sorry for how you feel! My heart goes out to you... As Richard said, you can have both. The first step is to go totally gluten free. And that means ZERO gluten--not even a smidge--b/c that is enough to make you have to 'start all over again.' Healing and recovery varies from person to person, but I would be hopeful that you will notice... -
ARCHIVED Capsule Endoscopy?
jenvan replied to whitelacegal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
jcgirl- Wow, I'd kind-of like to see it I was thinking the capsule was often used to diagnose Crohns or IBD. I'm not for positive on that. But I would agree, if you don't get a biopsy out of it, it is probably not a beneficial for a Celiac diagnosis as a regular endoscopy/biopsy. -

ARCHIVED Looking For "all Natural/chemical Free" Products
jenvan posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey there! I am still eliminating some products from my life and am looking for some heavy duty hand lotions (ie. shea butter perhaps) and some shampoos. I am trying to go as "natural" -- as few ingredients and chemicals as possible. I am using California Baby and like their products, but I wanted to see if there are some others you like... Thanks! -

ARCHIVED Walmart Going Gluten Free
jenvan replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Frenchie--You cracked me up with that one! That is interesting about Menards. My family has preferred them over Lowe's b/c Lowe's prices are so much more expensive. I may have to rethink that. Perhaps Home Depot is cheaper than Lowes?? I am not a Walmart fan either...but the good thing is their attention to gluten-free living gives us more pull and... -
Heather-I forgot I was going to respond to your question too. I had hemmoroids for years and got bleeding fairly often, sometimes with quite a bit of blood. As shimma suggested, the blood was bright red for me...it could be that or fissures perhaps. (Sorry for the grossness But since going gluten-free my C has gone away, and no more bleeding...

okay ladies... i got the book, read it, still have a question or two. my reason for tryng the SCD would be b/c of lingering fatigue, fibro symptoms. i do not get D. so, since i have no D, could i just begin the diet from day 1 or do i need to still start in the certain order? and are all of you planning on holding to the diet for 1 year, then reintroducing...
