  1. What's your story? How long have you been gluten-free if you are? Any chance you may have some deficiencies like iron?
  2. Lilly- You may not be able to tolerate it for some reason...however, I will mention after going gluten-free and healing it is not uncommon to find your body's reaction to alcohol changed--simply b/c your body is absorbing more. I used to be able to have several drinks and not really feel an impact...now I notice effects at one drink.
  3. Hopefully this isn't redundant (I don't want to go back and read 3 pages!) but here is the episode summary in case some of you didn't see it: Open Original Shared Link
  4. Flippin' great! Whether it was crazy or not, I'm just glad Celiac made it onto the show! I yelled loudly though when they mentioned villious atrophy and dh told me to be quiet, and I was like "I'm excited! Don't boss me around!!"
  5. I do use rice milk Bern... It suits me well in baking. However, for breading, I stick with just the eggs only--no milk and it works just fine. There is a new product some of us have found here too--you will have to try some. It is Vance's Dairy Free and it is made from potatoes. You can also make icecream from it too. Vincent has and said it was pretty...
  6. Right after my diagnosis I thought I would cook with gluten again...but I changed my tune quick. Not worth the risk, and it certainly is one. Instead I will just try to strive to prove to people that you can have delicious food and go w/o gluten Bernadette--You could try some good mixes too to help transition. I haven't ever noticed a reaction on my...
  7. Anyone heard of Klaron? I have yet to do my research on it, but other dermo wants me to try it. I think it is more of a sulfate based med. Also--what sunscreens do people use? I have used California Baby...think I may stick with that, but wondered about Lavera too--they have a neutral line they tout as safe for rosacea folks. Doc said I need to use sunscreen...
  8. Kristy- It is possible that a lactose intolerance might be causing him some behavioral changes, simply because of digestive distress...however, lactose intolerance itself will really only cause GI distress like gas, bloating, diarrhea etc...not behavioral changes. Casein however, has been known to cause behavioral changes, ADHD, what have you, like gluten...

    ARCHIVED Beer

Regular beer is not gluten-free and therefore is not safe to drink. We can use our "symptoms" as a guide but unfortunately symptoms CAN NOT be used alone as an infallable ruler by which to determine foods safe and not safe. Sometimes people don't get a reaction--that doesn't mean the damage is not occurring. It can depend on the day, on what else you have...
  10. Hmmm, it is really hard to say about your son's stools...especially since it hasn't been for too long. For me, soy causes cramping and gas. You could try eliminating all dairy and soy (not as hard as it sounds) and see if stools change back to normal. For milk alternatives I would recommend a Rice Milk like Pacific, Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Full Circle...
  11. Well, at this point there is no real sure way of telling. Possibilities--yes, you have gotten some gluten or you are reacting with constipation to another food, such as dairy (I do that) or your diet is poor and you need to chock up on fiber. (Don't be offended by that-b/c I have no idea what your diet is like! ) My recommendation is to keep a food...
  12. Which Tom's of Maine did you use? I tried the stick but found the roll-on to work best. I also use an Adidas Aluminum-Free deoderant too that works pretty well. You can ck it out here: Open Original Shared Link Not "all-natural" but aluminum free which is important... OH-and I just wanted to add... I used to use Dove's deoderant for years, and I...
  13. Oooo...sounds good! I adore their blondies And have a spice cake mix I've been waiting to use...
  14. Ha ha on the bushes Kate You go girl with the gardening--seriously! You are kicking as*! Already eating the lettuce--that's great! What kind?
  15. Poor thing--hope this is the last of that! I have never had a seizure, but have passed out several times. Two of which were post-bathroom. I think the pushing, sitting and then standing helps cause the fainting sometimes...and definitely with the blood pressure. One of these times happened in front of my dh (boyfriend at the time) and his two roommates...
  16. Chrissy- Oh wow... I am so sorry. I am sure your heart must be breaking right now. Eating disorders are such a hard, and usually, lifelong battle. I am going to pray for healing, for a recovery, that her desires to harm herself would disappear. I had an eating disorder many years ago...and by the grace of God just snapped of it, I lost the desire. ...
  17. Well, I majorly simplified my planting this year...just too tired to do more at this point. But did about 8 pots--coleus, the new begonias and some ivy...excited to see how it turns out. Also planted some sunflowers...we'll see on those! But I could have a forest of 12 foot sunflowers by the end of summer Oh, Judy and others--I got pictures of the...
  18. Hey Bridge! Good to see you on again... I going to send you an e-mail today. Am I still going to see you NYC? Maybe we could eat at Bistango's
  19. I like the subscription too...as elonwy said, there are quite a few updates a year. I don't use the drug one...b/c what I take rarely changes and I can just contact the manufacturer.
  20. Open Original Shared Link Is this it? Aww, Bucks County...my old home

    ARCHIVED Throat Hurts

And for those that prefer the all-natural approach...I like Thayer's Slippery Elm Lozenges (cherry). They work well for me.
  23. Patty- Welcome ! We are glad you're here. Please let us know when you get the final diagnosis. Also--if you have Crohn's (you can have both Crohn's and Celiac too), you should definitely read up on the SCD-Specific Carbohydrate diet. If its something you want to pursue at some point, there are quite a few here on the diet. It is a diet that restricts...
  24. Well, it is a real blessing they didn't find cancer or something like that! ...but I understand that knowing that doesn't 'make it all better' for you. Glad you're having the iron treatment done...I remember us talking about that a while back. So did you decide that the SCD wasn't for you? Here's to being frustrated and sad with you friend... Hang in...
