  1. I will let you know if I do! Would love to drive by the old house...
  2. I would not use any product with any form of gluten or oat. Too risky in my opinion. There are also a lot of good options out there. For really dry skin I like Tropical Traditions lotions. Open Original Shared Link
  3. yes, bromelain, derived from pineapple, is a common digestive enzyme used as a supplement for those with gi issues. however, it is not going to break down gluten and protect you or do damage control for an immune reaction. imo, it would only end up helping with inflammation etc. by promoting good digestion.
  4. I agree with Abby. I do get the doctor angst...I have it too for some of mine. I have had a few henious doctors and have complications b/c of not being noticed...however, not all doctors are bad. And until you can give yourself an endoscopy, a biopsy or surgery, we need them around.
  5. not sure...my mom has hash's. but never studied the tests much to know. might mean nothing since it is borderline...but i certainly won't say. good question to follow-up with doc.

  7. I eat the urge to stuff face on sweets during that time of the month For me, if I ever get the urge, it is at least sometimes hormonal..
  8. Ah, so frustrated! I was a great baker pre gluten-free...Now, not too great on yeast breads etc. My dad is such a sweetie Great cook, trying to work out some new recipes on some of our old favs. He figured out gluten-free sweet rolls for Christmas and they were great. Now we are working on Dill Bread...or even a basic yeast bread recipe which we could...
  9. I will add Westsoy's response when I called was 'be aware the milk is processed on same lines as other products.' yadda yadda....
  10. PS--I've been to Manila....loved the Philippines ! If you have been staying and eating in the hotel only, there is less chance for contamination from bacteria etc. However, I did get sick when I went to there from having to eat local food in one of the villages. I never drank or brushed with the regular water. But I stayed in a village...so it was risky...
  11. positive bloodwork, positive biopsy
  12. It depends for me too. If I don't really know them, I will usually bring something of my own...but ck to see if I can eat one of things they are offering, like a plain salad with veggies (and my own dressing) or a plain fruit salad for instance. Don't be bashful...do what you need to do. Pitch ins I always make sure to bring something substantial I can...
  13. Thought I'd answer my post in case anyone else ever had the question. I did get Freeda's max vitamin and mineral-Quintabs-M, and the pills are not large at all. They have a bit of a football shape to them and are easy to swallow---woo hoo!
  14. humor is great...i like to use that two to stay sane yup, no blood...the iron is produced by a company, like a prescription... not taken from someone else's body. my friends were confused at first when i had the procedure and i had a few of them volunteer to donate !
  15. well, sort of, depends on who is using the word i believe the more medical term is infusion, so as not to be confused with transfusions--transferring blood materials from one person to another. in the case of an infusion, the iron has been produced, it is not coming from another person. just a big brownish bag of iron that is send into your system via...
  16. Karen- Have you considered the SCD diet? If you haven't, you really should. You may have mentioned this, but have you ever had a follow up biopsy--did he also use that to come up with refractory diagnosis? On iron...I had an infusion. It is really the solution for peeps with persistent anemia... I took iron pills etc, no help...just make my system...
  17. Just to add, which you probably already know... Even if you son tests negative initially, you should keep an eye on him and have him tested again down the line...he could develop it later.
  18. ebrbetty-- You may want to keep a food and symptom journal also, to see if you are missing a problem food or connection...
  19. Tiffany... I have wondered the same thing, if I've been missing something. Maybe we aren't!
  20. I also had great luck with Great Plains Labs. They do a slew of tests, some insurance companies will cover testing and they have a biochemist/dietician who will go through results with you. Open Original Shared Link
  21. 1.) Self-diagnosis happens fairly often with gluten intolerance b/c the medical practice really only recognizes classic Celiac Disease at this point, and those with negative results are told they can eat gluten. Research is still very new at this point, but some studies show that those with negative results can still be gluten intolerant and suffer from...
  22. Bronco--that posts says it all! (Could we infer from that statement that Celiacs are, generally speaking, more successful and well-rounded than average non-Celiacs??)
