  1. When I make gravy , I just replace the flour with either corn starch or rice flour. OR POTATO STARCH ,potato starch is EXCELLENT in gravy !!
  2. Nope, I disagree. Going gluten free is not that tough. If you want tough try gluten, soy, egg, nightshade, legume and corn free. Oh and most fruit ,veggies and meat dont agree with your tummy either. That is TOUGH. And that is where you are headed if you dont take care of your gut now.
  3. I used to eat moringstar farm patty ,I miss them. If you find a brand you like ,please share the info with me
  4. Thanks Guys I dont expect them to taste like meat, kinda was hoping they would taste more like the vegan pattys I use to eat The closest store that carries them is about an hour drive ( one way). My daughter and her hubby went out to dinner tonight so they are going to pick me up some to try. Here's hopping I would try making homemade...

  6. You must have see the same doctor I did because surly there are not more than a couple of them out there :P  ** on the serous side I will add **some of them (doctors) are just down right dangerous for those that are gluten intolerant and celiac
  7. I (kinda) understand insurance companys refusing to pay for testing,, then we just pay for them our selves. BUT a doctor refusing to do testing that I ask for is the FIRST indication I need to look for a new doctor. My thoughts on a gluten challenge;;; NO WAY would I do one, not even for an "official " diagnoses. I have spend so much time trying...
  8. The last time I tried Rice Dream was last year some time (I think) and I reacted STRONGLY!!!! I have not (nor will I ) try it again. To me , It either has gluten or it does not. Rice Dream has gluten ,no matter how small the measurement.

  14. I wish I could be of some help but I am about 2 hours north of Pittsburgh.Other than eat n park I really dont know the restaurants in that area.
  15. There are plenty of gluten free carbs. I do better on a mod to high carb diet.I find I have much more energy then when I am low carb. And yes, since IBS,Hashimoto's and of course celiac all respond to a gluten free diet,it would be beneficial to do the diet regardless of diagnosis
  16. Being off gluten for two to three weeks will effect your blood test. If your want to be tested again stay on gluten for at least three months before retesting. Has your doc mentioned doing an endoscopy ?
  17. You are hypo but have you been tested for Hashimoto's?? Do you need a "official" celiac diagnoses??
  18. There is a member here username "mamaw" that lives in that area. If she does not see your post you could try to PM her.

  20. I did an elimination diet end of 2010 into 2011. Part of the "prep " for it was eliminating coffee . It took me about a month to eliminate coffee and get ready for the elimination diet.I was desperate . I had no other choice at that point.Doing a STRICT elimination diet was the single hardest thing( dietary ) I have ever had to do. In my case it was a last...
  21. I love this part ""The only soy-derived ingredient is highly refined soybean oil, excluded as a major food allergen. "" I do not understand how they can say it is not a major food allergen. It is still soy oil no matter how "highly refined " it is!!!! I understand this is a MAJOR loop hole in the government ( US) regulation but for those of...
  22. The restaurant I use to work part time for did. So unless you give me an unopened bottle of olive oil I do not trust a restaurant(any restaurant) not to use vegetable oil (soy oil)
  23. If you are in the US, foods containing soy must have a allergy warning on the food label. The exception to that is soy oil. I have discovered that most vegetable oil contains some soy oil or can be all soy oil.For some reason oil does not need a allergy warning Check EVERYTHING (and I mean EVERYTHING) for soy. You will be amazed the products that contain...
