  1. Same here but now I only get a fever if I get glutened. My "normal" temperature was 99.4 - 99.9 for YEARS - even after a complete Infectious Disease workup by TWO Infectious Disease doctors!
  2. When I figured out I had celiac I convinced my daughter (18 yo) to give up gluten about a month later. She had been complaining about stomach pain for years (ever since her appendix ruptured and she had a nasty bacterial infection from it.) I also suspected that she too had DH. Once off gluten she no longer had srtomach pain and the what she thought was bad...
  3. Wait....what is wrong with brewers yeast? I love it because it tastes like parmesean to me. I thought it was gluten free. ETA...nevermind. I thought we were talking about NUTRITIONAL yeast. My bad. Yes, brewer's yeast is a no-no
  4. I take benedryl when the itching gets bad too. Mine has always been spread out and not in clusters like many have. If you eat eggs you might notice you break out too because I think there is iodine in eggs. I stopped eating them so much and do not itch as much anymore.
  5. I would almost bet you are being cross contaminated. My son thought I was nuts when I told him I will not let my birds eat anything with gluten because they are always crawling on me and birds love to stick their beaks in your mouth.
  6. I have been gluten free for over two months and still break out. Mine seem to last just as long too. It takes YEARS for the antibodies under the skin to go away.
  7. Costco's Kirkland brand is gluten free (shampoo & conditioner)
  8. Add me to the list of having this symptom go away when I went gluten free. It really is amazing all the things that gluten causes!
  9. IVY. I got glutened at Carrabbas my first venture out to eat off of a gluten free menu. I was throwing up in their bathroom half way through the meal. The only place I even trust now is PF Changs because of the fact that they put it on plates with their logo so you can be certain it is gluten free.
  10. You sound excatly like I did before going gluten free. Within one week I knew I would never eat gluten again. My weak bladder cleared up in the first week too and that was something I never even thought was realted to my mystery disease.
  11. Sounds like Dermititus Hepeterformis to me and is common in Celiac. I have it and my elbow was the worst place. Does it itch?
  12. Be sure to check Deli meats. Cheaper brands could have gluten as fillers. I buy Boars Head because they label all their meats and cheese gluten free.
  13. I don't trust any place to be "Gluten Free". I always know I am taking my chances when I eat out. I vote for CC.
  14. Unfortunately I still suffer from this. It makes me walk like a little old lady sometimes. I have only been gluten free since January and at least it is not everyday anymore. I suspect I am still ingesting gluten through cross contamination or possibly other food intollerances and maybe once I get those figured out it will go away completely.
  15. Ugh, I am going to see a natropath tomorrow because I have lost all faith with the "I have a pill for that" doctors. I am convinced that I have some other underlyling food allergies that are just now able to get some attention now that gluten isn't raising such a stink. Because natropathy isn't covered under my insurance I have to shell out the $185 for the...

    ARCHIVED Why?

That is what happened to me the very first time I glutened and I never threw up before. I just look at it as as leat that gluten never spent long in your body so maybe the after effects won't be as bad
  17. Have you checked the wipes for wheat? I just discovered the other day that my hand sanitizer has wheat in it!
  18. I too have read that in some celiacs that they react the same way to casein as they do to wheat / barley / rye.
  19. I didn't know about the egg / iodine connection either! Could be why I still get sores because I eat two eggs several times a week.
  20. I usually shopat Sprouts because they have the gluten free tags on the shelf. It makes it so much easier.
  21. I could never sleep - NEVER! I had no problem falling asleep but I would always be up three to four hours later. I was on the highest possible dose of Lunesta for almost a year it got so bad but that really only put me to about six hours a night. I have been gluten free since Jan 2nd and I have not taken a Lunesta since about a wweek later. I have very few...
  22. Please do not think that she can go back to eating gluten just because it hadn't damaged her intestines yet. You have been given a GIFT of a diagnosis without your daughter having to endure YEARS AND YEARS of misery. Many of us wish we had been given that gift. Please do not throw that away. She needs to stay gluten free FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE.

    ARCHIVED I Am Stupid

First - you are NOT stupid! Second - you will get through this latest episode. We all have eaten things we should not have. You live and learn and it does get easier - I promise
  24. I am so sorry you are going through all of this with your various food allergies. You need to do what is right for YOU hun. Do not let anyone make you feel guilty for taking care of YOURSELF in the way that YOU see fit, even if they would not do the same if it were them.
