ARCHIVED Yet Another Doctor's Opinion
IrishHeart replied to researchmomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ditto for me .....and yes indeed. That's the only treatment anyway, whether it is celiac or NCGI. -
ARCHIVED Upper Abdominal Pain - Under Ribcage
IrishHeart replied to pondy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh, Thank Goodness you found out!! I am so sorry that in all the things I suggested, I never thought to suggest h. pylori to you (my Dad had that and I asked to be tested for it myself when I had this upper rib cage pain--but I was negative) but I am so glad you took our advice to keep pressing for follow up testing!! You kept saying you... -
ARCHIVED Yet Another Doctor's Opinion
IrishHeart replied to researchmomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, hon, it makes sense in a way--- except you are all going to be suffering while you find someone wiling to do this scope. Why does she think there is a hiatal hernia? You have not mentioned this previously . Does she have HH symptoms?? -
ARCHIVED Yet Another Doctor's Opinion
IrishHeart replied to researchmomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, this is exactly what this poor Momma has run into! And yes, thankfully now I too, have a GI who is celiac-savvy and who believes in NCGI and who loves it when I bring him articles and he thinks this "thing" is bigger than any of his colleagues believe. He puts his ego aside to talk with me and I have never met a doctor like him! Her story... -
ARCHIVED Yet Another Doctor's Opinion
IrishHeart replied to researchmomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
ok, Let me get this straight. She sees the direct correlation of gluten to her feeling so bad. yet she is demanding a scope?? what is it exactly that she WANTS?? a diagnosis of celiac? and if that does not come?? have you explained there is such a thing as NCGI to her and it causes ALL THESE SYMPTOMS TOO--EVEN seizures... -
ARCHIVED Eggland's Best Eggs
IrishHeart replied to Bubba's Mom's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am going to agree with GEMINI on this one, hon. I thought it was the eggs, the soy feed, etc... because I thought I had a soy issue as well. I may have had one, but all I know is now, I do not seem to have a soy problem. (The only soybean oil I eat is occasionally in mayo anyway--soy is not the best food on the planet-- especially for menopausal women... -
ARCHIVED Yet Another Doctor's Opinion
IrishHeart replied to researchmomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Or my (former) GI's NP who wrote "aneroxic" on my report in 2009 as I withered away? I was a robust 215 all those years I went to that office (1998-2008) and was told I had "GERD" and "IBS" and when I lost 90 lbs, my hair, muscle mass and I was in agonizing pain, she told me to take anti-depressants, acid reflux medicine and that it could not possibly... -

How about if you ask under the DOCTOR section on the forum? Entitle it Looking for Good Celiac GI in the ______ area? That's how I found my New WONDERFUL GI doc :) -
Aha! WEs also live in the house!! ....(wheat eaters) Charlotte, it could just be the gluten CC!! You're going to have to be extra-vigilant, hon. Hubs went gluten-free with me about a month after my DX (of his own accord, I did not ask) because he was fearful of CC--and the juggling of the separate butter, PB, jelly, mayo, etc--and the separate...

ARCHIVED Yet Another Doctor's Opinion
IrishHeart replied to researchmomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
uh-oh, now you are becoming like me...my Native American name would be "She who sees celiacs everywhere"..... and separate mayo, peanut butter, jam, mustard and anything else some WE (wheat eater) dips a knife into !!! This is why hubs just went gluten-free WITH me after my DX (of his onw accord, I did not ask!)---one butter, PB, jelly and mayo... -

I want in, but sadly, I cannot shovel either. I can pour beverages and set the table, however. -
I hope you feel better soon. I was in the same boat, pre-DX and for several months Post-Dx too. I was in a constant histamine response. Red-faced, with a raised red rash on my face (was it lupus? tested. nope) red chest, burning skin, stuffy nose, sinus pain, burning lips, mouth, throat, difficult breathing, migraines, trouble swallowing (everything...

See what happens from here. I am so glad that in essence, you DO have an answer and in a few days, she may just stop the gluten herself. You have done a marvelous job here, Momma!!!--and I think you owe yourself a day at a spa. IMHO -

well, I am not one to say "I told you so" (don't you hate when people say that!!--me too! ) but I believe I told you yesterday in a PM that she should go ahead and eat all that gluten, feel sh--ty --- and she would make the connection in her own head and say: Mom, It's the gluten!! Hallelujiah!! Now, what was that comment from the... -
Great news! Glad you are okay!! (and I have to say I went through this myself with a thyroid nodule in 2008--which has now somehow disappeared!?? and I take no meds and my thyroid functions perfectly normally) I am guessing yours will too!? Good for you--celebrate today!! Tapering off the med (take one every other day for a week or so?) may be the...

I have to agree--the Sulfites may just be it. They can cause this histamine response, yes. I have a friend who cannot drink wine because of sulfites. Closes her nose and swells her sinuses and closes her throat right up. She gets red-faced. Are there sulfites in any of the things you listed earlier in the thread that caused this reaction? You may be...

ARCHIVED Could This Be Celiac?
IrishHeart replied to Cher18's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Could be... and many people do not have gastro symptoms, but dermatological, neurological, musculoskeletal symptoms instead. Did you tell your doctor that your nephew is a Dxed Celiac? That may persuade him. -
ARCHIVED Need Ideas For A No-Fail Meal For Family Gathering
IrishHeart replied to suziq0805's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Tarnalberry gave you a terrific meal idea with chicken/turkey OR you could do a roast pork -with the roasted root veggies. (if you do not know how to do that, we can help!) OR a big pot of beef stew and a salad or an antipasto platter ?? Schar makes french loaves and dinner rolls you can heat up in the oven. Easy peasy. I prefer homemade, but... -
