  1. OMG! you sound like me--right down to the referred pain in my ear! It hurts like heck. I have those hard knots and swelling--and yes, they can be the size of an egg. These are called trigger points. (not to be confused with tender points of fibromyalgia) They are hyper-irritable knots in taut muscle bands and they can cause pain locally or refer to other...
  2. Since they all know you are gluten-free, I find it ironic/humorous that your job was to bring the rolls. Certainly, they know you will not be baking gluteny ones, so do they assume you will be bringing only gluten-free ones?? Sometimes people have a preconceived notion of what gluten-free foods may taste like and not want to even try them. Getting...
  3. OMG you guys! I am crying with joy. I just received a Christmas box in the mail! It's King Arthur gluten-free mixes (pancake, brownie and cookie) from my cousin and his wife and a note saying "Hope this finds you well and enjoying life again. Please accept this little thank you gift for doing such a remarkable and thorough job with your own diagnosis...
  4. What a thoughtful gift from thoughtful friends! Thanks for sharing--it is good to hear positive stories on here!! I was also given a great gift yesterday. This friend makes food items for everyone, but she said flat out "I would not want to make you sick and I would be afraid to give you any food I make, even if I am careful--what if it was CCed...
  5. If someone already suggested this to you, forgive me for repeating it. Have you tried probiotics??? they worked wonders in straightening out my gut and replenishing the good bacteria that leaky guts need. Just a suggestion.
  6. If you have celiac, you so not want to cheat EVER. This may be why you have continuing fatigue and asthma symptoms.
  7. Hey guys, This post is from January 2010--and the OP may not see your replies. Just so you know. Cheers, IH
  8. true, true Roda. No gall bladder here. Liver enzymes off and liver swelling pre- DX--but back to normal now.
  9. The Pau d'arco tea is used to detox the body and is considered a more gentle, natural anti-yeast detoxifying agent than say, prescription anti-fungals. Opinions vary as to whether or not it works. I used it for a few weeks a few years ago upon the suggestion of an ND and an integrative MD. I was so sick and in burning pain from my mouth down---so all it...
  10. And on that wise and neutral observation, I think this discussion has run it's course.
  11. sorry, hon.... I should have been more specific. Temporal mandibular joint--- TMJ dysfunction is pain in this joint . Open Original Shared Link MT --massage therapist
  12. Seems like a good idea to me. We've covered all the bases.
  13. These look delicious and your review has made me drool. and even better that they are DF and SF! Darn it--I have gained 15 lbs. since DX (ah well, I could afford to put back on a few lbs.) but now, I better be careful of my goodies intake. um, after New Year's of course. Thanks for posting this!!!
  14. You guys have sold me on them....I have to get some mix tomorrow!
  15. hahaha  before I posted anything, I read the headline out loud to hubs and said "it's about freakin time!!!!"
  16. I was always nagged to "wash my patties" before meals (you know, as in patty cake ) (and after using the loo, of course!) and we ate oatmeal a few times a week as kids. Siblings said UCK. not me--yum! It's still my favorite breakfast and fortunately, I can tolerate gluten-free ones occasionally. Another case of "everyone is different...
  17. I see you are still battling the brain fog, huh? Sorry hon. You are SURE there's no gluten getting in??? You started the probiotics, right? They will start to calm the inflammation down. Okay, the pain is from inflammation and be careful using too many OTC anti-inflammatories as they are gut-irritants. You can try warm epsom baths as TeknoLen suggests...
  18. Me too! My jaw and face and neck muscles--all ache from gluten. Anxiety is provoked by gluten and we clench our jaw muscles. Inflammation from gluten will hit any joint or muscle group. I am working on an article on this very topic for the TMJD specialist and the MT who works on his patients. Guess what's the one factor we all share? Gluten intolerance...
  19. Sugar can do it, plus you said ....there's the flu in your house. Anything can make for a wonky tum. I have one now and I haven't had gluten or sugar. I confess, I ate an outrageous mac and cheese at the gluten-free cafe near me and frankly, I was a pig about it:) Glad you like the snack bag idea!!!. And you can provide enough for her besties, too...
  20. Julia is the best. I am the culinary daredevil that I am because of her. I watched her on black and white TV (showing my age here) back in Boston on PBS when I was a kiddo. I became a "mini-chef" back then. Here's a thought for you all --since the OP obviously loves to eat and the rest of you seem to share this enthusiasm. Julia said: ...
  21. good one, Reba!!
  22. Definitely the Neuro symptoms ---what I call "Gluten Head" --you know, the 7 dwarves: spacey, dopey, racy, anxious, depressed, agitated, and clumsy. The increased joint and nerve pain comes in second--ooh, that's just great. The GI stuff --nausea, burning, churning, and the rest?---is just the joyful icing on the cake. Lasts about 2 weeks...
  23. Again, AMEN on the hand sanitizer. thanks for that thought!!
  24. Amen. This is something I have also tried to express in various threads regarding what factors may perpetuate symptoms. I think GEMINI has said it best and perhaps it will be considered by the OP in his quest to determine what's happening with his son.
  25. Well, see the more you tell us, the more we can speculate on what the heck happened! J. could have some flu symptoms. um, 5 candy canes and hot chocolate? and were they all gluten free?? (yes, those can have gluten in them) Too much sugar can give ANY of us a stomach ache. Our guts are not equipped to digest that much at once. You should see...
