ARCHIVED How Do I Stop The Worrying?
IrishHeart replied to C-Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Soy is not my pal. Never has been and I do not care. Read "The Whole Soy Story" and you'll never eat it again. Enjoy Life chips RULE!! LOL -
omg...snort....peeing rainbows... I am the kind whose pee smells funny after eating asparagus. My poop is red after eating beets. Black after too much chocolate. Not sure what any of this has to do with iodine patch tests, but hey, this is D's thread and since she took it down this road, I thought maybe I'd share.

? But you started the thread with this statement: I forgot all about it until I had my thyroid tested and discovered that I had low hormone levels. "low hormone levels" means reduced thyroid function or Hashi's So what exactly are you dosing with iodine for, then? This makes no sense.(unless I am missing something) As I said, if your...

ARCHIVED Pacificia Perfume
IrishHeart replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank for the suggestion. I'll see if I can tolerate wearing a fragrance again. I love gardenias and I can't do overpowering scents of anything...not sure why, but it makes me nauseous. I can't even enjoy dinner out if the woman next to me is drowning in her Chanel No.5 or whatever... This makes me wonder....why do people put so much on anyway? blech.... -

Today is one week in the new house and I have decided to break out all the "stuff" I found as I opened boxes all day. It's like Christmas here LOL Plus, we have a fantastic veggie/fruit stand right here, so I made A Pizza Bianco Chebe crust with an olive oil/garlic baste 4 cheeses (fresh ricotta, shaved parm, shaved gorgonzola, fresh MOZZ)... -
With all due respect, Diana, if you do not know that Hashimoto's thyroiditis is autoimmune thyroiditis, you should not be supplementing with iodine without guidance from an ENDOCRINOLOGIST. Open Original Shared Link but as I recall, your thyroid tests are normal. You posted them before. I have suggested this to you previously, but you seem to...

ARCHIVED How Do I Stop The Worrying?
IrishHeart replied to C-Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I probably sound like a broken record with this, but I HIGHLY recommend Real Life with Celiac Disease by Melinda Dennis, RD and Daniel Leffler, MD. Covers every topic you can imagine, written by over 50 celiac disease specialists and the articles are easily digested. -

The most difficult thing about healing from celiac damage is being patient. It's the mother of all exercises in patience. Believe me. It took me a long time to see some stability in my bowels, the neurological issues, the insomnia, the....everything. I am still trying to get my hair to thicken up. I hate to say this but, you will be healing for a long... -
ARCHIVED I'm 28 Years Old...my Boobs Are Growing?
IrishHeart replied to glutenfreelizzy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When I was very sick before DX, my 38C boobs were flattened from loss of muscle tone and because I was very thin (I had been overweight). They looked like sad old lady boobs and it depressed me. Really. They looked awful. But now, the "girls" are back to where they were. I have gained weight, I can work out again and just strengthening the pects has... -
ARCHIVED Butter
IrishHeart replied to w8in4dave's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When I had to be dairy free for the first 9 months or so, (and that was awful because I LOVE cheese and BUTTAH, as we say in Boston lol.) I discovered that some margarines contain butter. Crazy, I know. I used ghee (or clarified butter) and it did not bother me. Clarifying removes the casein and the lactose. Maybe you could try that? I have always used... -
lol I do not think I would not necessarily assume that. If he is a beer drinker, he's probably got beer belly, but it does not exclude anything either. I know plenty of chubsters (i was once one myself) who could be celiacs, for sure. One of the biggest mistakes doctors make is thinking "you can't have celiac if you're overweight". WRONG! The other...

so sorry to hear this news, Addy. My heart goes out to you. love, G -
My very savvy celiac GI doc told me flat out "You know more about this disease than any of my colleagues. Please, write a book" (I will) But why did I have to almost die and figure this shyte out for myself? My own PCP doc has 3 kids with celiac, for pete's sake. He symptom treated me for 12 years!Sent me to dozens of specialists. He "did not know how...

ARCHIVED Taking This Too Seriously, Or Not Seriously Enough? Get Rid Of Pets Too?
IrishHeart replied to GFAnnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Never be paranoid! (celiac or not) as that is a useless trait May I suggest you keep all your pets (as you will not be eating their feed) and read this thread: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ just so I do not have to type it all again... Thanks...it is valentine's day after all and I have a "date" with the hubs... -
I searched "dr/ mercola's" site..... and it led me to Dr David Brownstein....which led me to this: Open Original Shared Link which states: "Dr. Guy E. Abraham and his close partner Dr. David Brownstein have been repeatedly quoted and cited by the quacks of iodine drinking as "the experts" on this topic; so it is worth a moment to discuss them...

Back atcha, Ski. Hugs and kisses to all the dinner peeps! Almost the same here...filets, roasted asparagus, some baby potatoes for the hubs and possibly a sip of bubbly and one little eensy bite of chocolate? I am staring at 2 dozen glorious roses here...he is a total romantic, this one....I think I'll keep him. We are eating off stacked boxes... -

Open Original Shared Link I would never try to supplement with iodine unless I was sure I was deficient. Iodine deficiency is uncommon in the United States and Canada. Most people in the United States get enough iodine from foods and beverages. However, certain groups of people are more likely than others to have trouble getting enough iodine:...
