IrishHeart replied to seraphim's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
A simple google search will help you find this information. Not many people on this forum have a histamine and salicylate intolerance. Mine is NOT allowed to start any new projects when I am not here..... un- uh. Nope. Absolutely not . The End. The bright yellow primrose are open now and they are pretty spectacular next to the purple rock cress. The hub's blueberry bushes...are full of berries this year (that took forever) and they are starting to turn blue. I have... -

oh yes, it's Japanese beetle time again ! UGH! Time to get the traps out. My dad used to hand pick those things off his flowers and tomatoes....and drop them in a small jar of gasoline. He'd have been thrilled to see the traps they make now. Pretty effective, but not foolproof. Better than losing everything to those chewers!! Our tomato plants and... -

Casseroles, chilis, or stews. Makes enough for several days..(yup, I saw Ski's response on the garden thread...and I agree completely!) Here's one idea. Turkey Chili—fast, easy, delicious and full of protein and fiber. Takes @ 30 minutes start to finish. Ingredients: 1 tbsp olive oil 1 large onion, finely chopped 1 red bell pepper, seeded a... -

oh, we've all done that at least once!!post dinner here instead of there.....it's because we seem to be the same crowd on both threads Lisa beat me to it. I was going to say chili or casseroles. Makes enough for a few meals. -

My mom is what I call a "utilitarian cook". Basics. That's it. No real use of herbs and spices. Nothing creative. And certainly, no garlic or cheese. No sauces or marinades. No homemade dressings or baked goods. and yes, you read that correctly......my mom hates garlic and cheese (GASP!) Also, mushrooms, shallots, and wine. I never had lasagne until I... -

Well ...what would you call "an ingredients list and a temperature gauge/time frame for making meatballs" when telling someone new to this how to make them? Directions? I would not call what I do to make them a "recipe" per se...it's not written down or anything and I have done it a thousand times, but the things we do so easily now were once taught to... -
NO. That is not what candida is. Candida albicans is a yeast infection and if you had it, you'd know, believe me. It is OBVIOUS with white, itchy patches on your genitals and in your mouth. I have never had it (thank God! ) but I have seen pictures on medical sites and one friend has suffered from it and she explained it to me (and I saw her mouth...

Meatballs Similar to Ski's....., except I use a combo of ground beef, ground pork & ground veal (ask the butcher at the store for "meatloaf mix" ) In addition to what she puts in hers, I add some grated parmesan and parsley to my meatballs and I bake them on a tray for 20 minutes in the oven at 350. Then, I add them to my sauce. -

I honestly think your issues may not be salicylates, but if you want to try an elimination diet, you can try it! Urticaria (hives) can be caused by these foods: Open Original Shared Link OR Thyroid disease. Have you had your thyroid checked? -

haloumi....drooool yum and lamb is my favorite thing and if you lived closer, I'd be barging through the door right now, just to smell your kitchen. You may want chicken alfredo (hell, I want chicken alfredo!!) but you are not going to have it because you are avoiding aged cheese right now for a good cause. (I am helping, not nagging! :) )... -
ARCHIVED Unexpected Hospital Stay And Dietary Nightmare
IrishHeart replied to cahill's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Excellent advice!!! and I second this idea. Write the one where you tear them a new one first, just for you, then shred it. I have complained to a hospital before about an ER doctor who gave me the very medication I am not supposed to have (after I repeated it twice to the nurse) and was surprised to receive a response from the head of the ER... -

Not everyone agrees with you about Omission, I am afraid. While it tastes good (so I have heard), it is questionable about how "gluten free " it actually is. The things I have read, leave me skeptical about its safety. But if you have no symptoms after drinking it...cheers! -

ARCHIVED Need To Figure Out What In My Makeup I'm Allergic To
IrishHeart replied to seraphim's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Stop using the makeup. Wait a week or so. Try a small amount on the inside of your wrist. If you get any bumps or itching, stop using it. Multiple ingredients in makeup, food, or drinks make it nearly impossible to tell which particular ingredient is causing the problem. If you think salicyaltes are the problem, use salicylate free makeup... -

I'm afraid so! We just cannot have gluten sneaking in, hon. C'mon, now, you know this! Even if you think you're not causing damage because you "only" get diarrhea, well, you must know this is not the case. Your mouth issues---speak volumes. Get cracking on being more vigilant and I bet you see those resolve. My brain would be fried if I were...

LFitts, I start by honestly saying I am not a Mom myself, as much as I wanted to be one, but I have worked with kids of various ages for many many years. ARCHIVED Unexpected Hospital Stay And Dietary Nightmare

All I can do is shake my head, Chill. Cream of wheat. Morons. My biggest fear is being stuck in a hospital, or (later down the road) a nursing home.... or a jail (not sure WHY I'd be there, but it's on my list of places to avoid ) and getting glutened left and right by well-intentioned staff and my brain starts to fritz. (shudder) Glad you...
