  1. Or maybe print out some info from a reputable site like cureceliac.com or Dr Fasano, or even the Mayo clinic. If she sees these things she will know you're not making it up (about how strict you have to be). Then she will be able to concentrate on your real issues instead of thinking that your CC anxiety IS one of your issues.
  2. If you're thinking it is DH you should find a GOOD dermatologist who is experienced in the DH biopsy. It needs to be taken while she is still eating gluten, and it needs to be taken on CLEAR skin right NEXT TO and ACTIVE lesion. Maybe print out some of this info from a reputable website such as cureceliac.com and show it to the doctor. Same thing with your...
  3. Your pharmacy sells boxes of vinyl gloves. They're cheap and disposable and have no powder. That's what I use. I really doubt the powder is wheat or oats but who wants powder all over their hands? I have terrible psoriasis on my hands. They crack and bleed. I use the gloves to wash dishes and I sleep in them after slathering my hands with coconut oil at...
  4. YES!! It's so good to hear, plus it's an inspiration to the newbies. Healing DOES happen, and good health WILL return. I'm so glad for you!
  5. I always bring my own food and usually disposable dishes when traveling. As far as the rest of it goes, of COURSE, wash your produce! You will not only be washing off any gluten, but pesticides and dirt and germs too. And always always ALWAYS, wash your hands before putting anything in your mouth. If a gluteny hand has touched the package in the grocery...
  6. Ouch! I'm so sorry to hear it. I hope it is a mild case that goes away quickly and never comes back.
  7. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Send him to this site and hope he takes a sip.
  8. It sounds like you might have a good doctor. I'm guessing if the blood tests are positive he wants you in there so he can schedule an endoscopy with biopsy. If that is the case you really need to still be eating gluten. Let him know you stopped and he'll probably have you eat gluten for a few more weeks before the test. Let us know how it goes.
  9. Hi Joshua. This is a really old thread and most of the people who wrote aren't here anymore. But to answer your question, I think you are going through gluten withdrawal. I had similar feelings when I went through it, along with mood swings, headaches, ravenous hunger, and just an overall feeling that something was wrong. You should be coming out of it soon...
  10. Hi and welcome to the forum. It sure sounds to me like you have celiac. It's too bad you couldn't have been tested before you got pregnant but I agree, you shouldn't try a gluten challenge right now. To answer your questions, it is very common for folks with celiac to have problems with dairy, at least at first. The villi, the part that digests our...
  11. That's one of the reasons I can have a positive attitude about having lupus. I have had the greatest life anyone could imagine. My parents were the absolute best in the world. My husband was the absolute best in the world. My friends are the absolute best in the world. I've had the opportunity to play music for 50 years. I live in (except for the food )...
  12. "LOL Your husband sounded like a character... you seem to share the same outlook and humor." People used to get us mixed up. We of course LOOKED nothing alike. I was 5'10" and he was 6'8". He had a big reddish beard and was bald on top, while I had no beard and back then I actually had hair. But our personalities were so alike that our friends...
  13. The T4 is listed as "Thyroxine (T4) free, Direct". The T3 is listed as "Triiodthyronine, Free, Serum". I HAVE been consuming sugar! I have doubled up on the yogurt because he gave me an antibiotic. I eat a cup each morning and another at night. It's organic vanilla (Stoneybrook) and it's the best tasting yogurt I have ever had. I never thought about the...
  14. I hope it's not shingles and goes away quickly! I knew a guy who had it once and he said it was incredibly painful. Have you looked it up on Dr. Google? I just did and I saw this from the CDC. On the left side is a list of links and one of them is pictures. Open Original Shared Link
  15. Thanks, NVS. My TSH is 1.010 with the reference between .450 and 4.500. T4 is 1.26 with a reference between .82 and 1.77 T3 though is at the low end. It is 2.8 with a reference between 2.0 and 4.4 I'd like to think it IS my thyroid. Should I call my doctor again and ask about this? With no insurance this is getting expensive but it sure would...
  16. Um, could I make a suggestion? If your husband is the only one in your home who consumes gluten, why not segregate his dishes and YOU wash them by hand? That way the kids can continue using the dishwasher for the gluten-free dishes, and you will be assured there is no contmination.
  17. Closing a Mac and opening Windows?
  18. Yes, I've been on the raisins for almost six weeks. They say sometimes it takes up to eight so I've got my fingers (metaphorically) crossed. And I have some good news! Sunday when I broke the computer I was angry and sad. Then yesterday after the bad news from the doctor I was pretty teared up all day. But this morning when I got my mind and heart around...
  19. Paper plates are fine. Trust me. How long has he been gluten-free? It could just be that he hasn't healed yet. Or it could be that he IS somehow getting CC at daycare. Perhaps it's as simple as touching the gluteny hands of a playmate, then putting his hand in his mouth. Or he could be getting it from a gluteny toy. How about his meds? Supplements...
  20. I've been out of commission for a couple of days due to computer issues. (I have a very small metal fan above my computer. It fell on Sunday and when I tried to catch it it bounced off my laptop's screen. ) Anyway, I am borrowing a friend's until I get a new one. So I got the results back. It is NOT thyroid. The doctor believes I have lupus, and he also...
  21. My doctor is one of the few really good ones - most only run the TSH for thyroid even though to not miss a diagnosis they should also run the free-t3 and free-t4. I din't even have to ask, he ordered all three. See if you can get your test results (for all of the tests) and post them here. The only tests I know of for lupus are tests for damage to kidneys...
  22. I've been going through the arthritic thing too. My doctor is sure (although I haven't gotten the test results back yet) that I am hypothyroid. He also suspects Lupus because the symptoms are similar. (The wrist and finger pain, thinning hair, fatigue, etc.) I do have a perfect red triangle on my forehead and thought it couldn't be lupus because it isn't...
  23. Just tell you SIL to leave the door open for 8 to 12 hours after washing clothes. Those front loaders have to seal completely so they don't leak, therefore they always stay wet (even here where the humidity is low), and begin to smell. If you let it dry completely before latching it, it will never stink again.
  24. Thyroid problems. Lupus. Rheumatoid arthritis. Cancer. MS. Neurological problems. You risk all of these and much more if you don't go STRICTLY gluten-free. The good news is there are substitutes for all of your old favorites. Try Udi's multi-grain bread. Bard's beer. And lots of places have gluten-free pizza now, not to mention all of the gluten-free...
  25. First, go to the Newbie 101 thread in the coping section to learn about cross-contamination and lots more. Also, once she starts to heal she will be absorbing things better and if she stays on Zoloft her dose should be reduced. Check to make sure that and any other meds or supplements she is on are gluten-free. It can take a long time to heal and I don...
