  1. OK, one more time: Many products claim to be gluten-free but if you read the label you will find out otherwise. For example, I just read a thread about a coffee substitute (Dandy somethingorother) that is labeled gluten-free, but it is made with barley. That's just like that beer folks have mentioned that claims to be gluten-free because the gluten has...
  2. SMRI, you've been told and it has been explained to you over and over again. Kraft products are safe. They are one of the best companies out there when it comes to labeling for gluten. For example, the law says if a product contains wheat it must be on the ingredients label. There is no such law for barley, but Krafte WILL tell us if for example there...
  3. First of all, that doctor was 100% wrong! The difference between low gluten and no gluten is this: If you have celiac disease and eat low gluten, you might as well eat full gluten for all the good it will do you. Even on a low gluten diet, you are damaging your body tremendously. Second of all, if you do have celiac, you are probably having trouble because...
  4. Section one: The only potential glutening source would be the lotions if they were on your hands, or if on another body part if you touch it (like your face) and then pops some food in your mouth without washing your hands first. The same if you touch a person's gluteny hands and then eat with your own unwashed hands. Meat and eggs are not a problem no...
  5. Squirming, you have been one of the most informed and helpful people here on the board. You may never know how many people you have helped, but they know. You deserve perfect health and it's so good to see you well on the way. (((((HUGS)))))
  6. If you read the labels on products you will be safe. That's the bottom line. Wheat in some cheeses? The label will say so. If it does, don't eat it. And for those of you who insist Kraft products are not safe, just don't buy them. That will leave more for those of us who know better. And by the way, I'm one of those "old timers" who has been glutened...
  7. You're not being over-cautious at all. The slicer can be easily contaminated. For example, a lot of the roast beef deli's sell is cooked with a coating to make it brown nicely. And often that coating has flour in it. And of course there are other things in the deli that contain gluten. I even know of one place that will slice bread on their slicer if a customer...
  8. Isn't Kenny the one who gets killed in every show? Maybe they'll feed him a loaf of bread to kill him off in this one.
  9. I'm usually OK, but I admit there are times I too would kill for a good restaurant cheeseburger and fries. I know I can make them at home but it's not the same. Usually those cravings will last a week or two, then I'll be OK for a few months. I like Canyon Bakehouse bread. It's like those whole-grain breads with all the nutty little bits in it. Yep, it...
  10. That is a CYA statement. They do it because the lawyers tell them to. In almost three and a half years on this diet I have never, NEVER been glutened by any Kraft product and I trust them completely.
  11. Well, I googled the china study and found more "debunked" articles than "good for you" articles. None were from scientific publications. This article, though not from a scientific publication, does cite info from Harvard and from the University of Connecticut that say eggs do NOT raise serum cholesterol, and that indeed, eggs are good for you. http...
  12. Chicachik, could you show scientific proof that "eggs aren't good for health"?
  13. You're impatient. We all were. We want to feel better right now. But it usually doesn't happen that way. It takes a while to heal. And giving up dairy for one week probably isn't enough. Keep a food diary. Try to stick to whole foods only. And give it time.
  14. His name is Eric Calderone. He studied classical guitar in college and then went to Berklee in Boston (where they teach jazz). I have emailed him to tell him how much I like his playing. Haven't heard back yet. I hope he comes to the Black Hills someday. I'd love to have him in my shop.
  15. My Mom also had celiac. She was diagnosed back in the 1980's. So when I started having problems I knew. I was in denial for a long time but when my psoriasis got so bad that I couldn't play guitar anymore (I run a music store!) I knew I had better do something. With no insurance I decided to skip testing and just went gluten-free. Like Mom, my psoriasis cleared...
  16. Yeah, and I have read that corn syrup is made from corn starch which has no protein in it either, so MAYBE...
  17. I'm wondering if the grapeseed extract has anything to do with it. I've been taking it daily for the past few months. It is an anti-inflammatory. Because I can't take aspirin or other NSAIDS, I thought this would be useful. A friend of mine suggested it. He is 80 and in perfect health. Anyway, my jaw thing ALWAYS acts up when I either get sick or upset. I...
  18. Oh my. I just thought of something. If I truly do have corn back I could eat........BACON!!!!!
  19. Not that I want to eat a lot of corn products anyway, but I bought some potato chips from the grocery store that said they were cooked in "sunflower oil, and/or corn oil". Now maybe this bag was just sunflower oil, but I didn't get sick. Or it could be that, as I have read, there is no corn protein in corn oil. But I'm ready to buy some Ore Ida fries and...
  20. Can't get it here. (Not even for $17.99!! ) I was going to try the cauliflower pizza crust last night but my electric food chopper crapped out on me and when I went to buy a hand-held grater...it didn't work out. So today, seeing I had all the ingredients, I cut up the cauliflower into small pieces, put it and the sliced mushrooms in a bowl of rice...
  21. Don't have a dishwasher, but if I soak it and clean it well it should be OK i guess. Just an aside, did you notice the poor grammar in the reply? "I apologize that you are unhappy", and "make sure and pass that along". THAT'S who they have representing their company to the public? Even the initial message in the "contact us" box had, "one of our representative...
  22. How about a yard sale one? Do you think I would be able to clean it well enough just in case a used one was glutened?
  23. So I have a flat cheese grater but I wanted to get the box kind that has fine grate on one side, coarser grate on the other. Then I think one of the narrow sides slices and I can't even remember what the fourth side does. But you know what I mean. It's the kind our mothers all had. Anyway, I went to the only department store in town - Shopko, where I...
  24. That is GREAT news! CONGRATULATIONS!!! I don't know what to tell you about testing, but I think I mentioned before that IMO it is a good chance that you do have celiac. You need to have all of these tests: tTG IgA and tTG IgG DGP IgA and DGP IgG EMA IgA total serum IgA control test AGA IgA and AGA IgG are older, less reliable tests If I...
