  1. Be careful with that pizza place. A lot of folks have gotten CC'd at pizza places. That's not to say there aren't safe ones, but if you know any other celiacs in the area, check with them first, or question the folks at the restaurant really well. Ask if they make their own REGULAR dough, and of so, do they do it in the same room where the gluten-free pizzas...
  2. OK, I'll take your share so you don't have to eat it.
  3. "(sorry for repeating a few things Bartfull said. We were typing away at the same time)" That only goes to show that great minds (and experienced celiacs) think alike.
  4. Whole foods. Only eat things you have prepared yourself and in your own kitchen. Eventually you will be able to add new things, but for now, keep it simple. Even though you've been at this since June, if you keep getting glutened, you're not healing. Be really strict for another six months or so, then SLOWLY start adding some gluten-free processed foods if...
  5. Yeah, I know white chocolate isn't really chocolate, but it sure does taste good!
  6. Oooh! I just had an idea. Fondue! Put the hot fudge in your fondue pot, cook some steak, some crispy bacon, have some oranges sectioned, maybe some roasted broccoli, some Kettle chips or french fries, and whatever else you can think of. Invite some friends over.
  7. Mine was rare, and not marinated with anything. I had a friend over and we cooked the steaks on the grill. He was done eating before I was, so I ran into the kitchen and made the hot fudge sundaes we were having for dessert before I had finished my steak. I came back to the dining room. There was the steak, and there was the hot fudge, and I thought, "Why...
  8. Steak, preferably char-broiled, dipped in hot fudge. One of the best things I have ever tasted. Honestly.
  9. Just an idea, but if you are thinking those "freckle spots" may be skin cancer, and since we all know that the sooner these things are caught, the better, why not go to the emergency room? I mean, it might BE an emergency if it DOES turn out to be cancer, and if the ER doc thinks it might be, he can probably get you into the dermatologist's sooner.
  10. Maybe there should be a sticky, or at least something on the newbie thread about this. It seems that lately a LOT of people are reading about this on those quack sites. If we nip it in the bud, it'll save a lot of new folks from giving up foods they don't need to.
  11. I hope you reported said co-worker to management! Whoever it was deserves to be fired! If this person is snooping on you, who else is in danger of being spied on?! The boss perhaps? Or any other workers whose personal information is being compromised? Or the business itself? I am SO GLAD I work for myself!
  12. That's from the same company. Could somebody chime in and tell us if the problem with rice dream was CC? Because if it was, this one might be CC'd too.
  13. You said you had JUST been tested, and you also say you have been off gluten for four weeks. Were you off gluten when you were tested? If so, you might have gotten a false negative. Anyway, I agree with Lisa - you need to give it more time. Some symptoms clear up more quickly than others. AND you should get your vitamin and mineral levels tested. And...
  14. White chocolate doesn't have caffeine, and they do make white hot chocolate. Google it and you'll see it available in a bunch of different places. Somebody gave me some for Christmas a few years ago and even though I didn't drink it (I just don't LIKE hot chocolate of any kind), all of my friends who drank it said it was good.
  15. And here is my very favorite bread of all. I am corn intolerant and couldn't eat it before, but it no longer has any corn in it, and it's GOOD! Open Original Shared Link
  16. What are your other intolerances? Maybe we can help! Here is the ingredients list for Against the Grain rolls. Of you're OK with eggs and dairy, these should work for you. Open Original Shared Link
  17. What kind of rice milk areyou using? I have read here that Rice Dream isn't really gluten-free.
  18. They're really good with ranch dressing, but if you're off dairy you can't have that. Maybe drizzle them (sliced) with olive oil and spices? Something like rosemary might be good.
  19. If you like avocados, they would make a great snack. Don't need refrigeration, will fill you up, and they are so good for you. I think if you are trying to go low sugar you should stay away from honey. It's a different kind of sugar, but sugar nonetheless.
  20. Peace, Irish. You know I love you. If it weren't for you, I'd never have been able to get through the first year of this. I owe you my health and my sanity! I guess I just see things differently because I HAVE been glutened by dirty, crumby hands. And I know it must be so much harder when you are dealing with a celiac one-year-old with one-year-old friends...
  21. Not trying to be contentious, HONESTLY I'm not, but didn't we just have a discussion the other day about people thinking allergies are worse than celiac? And didn't most posters say either that celiac was worse because the suffering lasted longer, or think it was insulting for someone to try to "one up" us? So why is it OK for someone with allergic people...
  22. I THINK Tylenol is gluten-free, but it is full of corn which I am also intolerant to. I have mine made at a compounding pharmacy, gluten-free, corn-free, and soy-free. It does work for my pain, even though in the old days it would have been my last choice. I used to use either ibuprofen or asperin, but I have also developed an asperin allergy so Tylenol is...
  23. I have read that allegies and intolerances to sulfites can cause rashes. I have also read that the grapes red wine is made of contain sulfites naturally. I had to give up my red wine years ago because it caused the big D within a couple of sips. There is no reason it should - a lot of celiacs can drink red wine with no problems, but being a lover of a...
  24. I would have to agree with her. My Dad died from his true allergies. He had asthma, and one time even the epi pen didn't work. My Mom had celiac, and eventually it DID kill her, but it took years and lots of complications. When she got glutened, she got really sick - vomiting and D, and it took weeks before she felt better, but a glutening didn't...
  25. Except that the OP stated that her kids were still quite young. Little kids will often just pop something into their mouths without washing their hands first. I look at it the same way as folks who worry about their small children at school. Some gluten-handed kid might reach into the celiac kids bag of chips or M&M's and contaminate the whole bag. Better...
