  1. Yes, it is quite possible you have Celiac Disease. As possible as NCGI. There's not a doctor alive that can detect Celiac visually. Get a new one.
  2. 20. You can have it exactly how you like it, when you want it, EVERY TIME. And if you're careful, it will be exactly the same, every time or you can kick it up a bit. 21. And it doesn't talk.
  3. Enzymedica makes a combo enzyme/probiotic. It is gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link
  4. Some people have other food sensitivities that seem to activate it (corn, salicylates, etc.). I've heard of people being on dapsone for years before DH recedes enough to be controlled just with gluten-free. Sometimes it can pop up without reason, even gluten-free, as long as there are iga antibodies in the skin. It can be assumed some people take longer...
  5. I'm not sure of type a but herpes whitlow is what is supposed to show up on hands (and feet, elbows?). Of you can stand a band aid on it I think it helps tremendously, with a bit of salve.
  6. Well, the burning means one of two things to me: starting or stopping. Since its been there a while I'm betting on stopping. I noticed mine tried to heal then I get careless and don't use gloves or don't moisturize then it comes back. So baby it. Mine also is changing how it looks. Ugh. I thought it was eczema/psoriasis but now it looks like herpes....
  7. I think they will know DH they've id'd before. Should be the same but it isn't. I think my Derm suspected it but it was so disfigured from the immune suppressants he didn't pick it up visually - though he did ask about symptoms that in retrospect I know was feeling around for DH. I think a savvy dx depends on putting together the ai connection (if there...
  8. Go to the DH forum, click on a permanent post at the top. A link will describe DH in many forms. Yes, DH changes. Yes, it looks different on different people. Sounds like your hand is trying to heal. You need a water resistant barrier on that finger - like Vaseline. Multiple times a day. I have THE SAME THING ON MY FINGER. Wear gloves when washing...
  9. It is not uncommon for gluten sensitive/Celiacs to have a variety of skin issues. Not all are DH. There are other autoimmune diseases linked to skin issues. There are other diseases linked to DH, but those alone don't cause DH. The Celiac component causes DH. Thyroid/Hashimotos seems to be the most frequently linked to DH (other than Celiac). Which...
  10. Can you do olive oil and Shea butter? If so find pure Shea and mix in some olive oil. Works great for a multitude of things, I've found.
  11. Something to try if you eat and eat and still struggle to feel satiated is a bit (half a low gci bar, 1 serving or less of semi sweet chips) of glucose. If I am swinging hypoglycemic, I can eat veggies, meats, nuts all day and still not be "right". If I eat just a touch of glucose it stops the hungries and stomach growling and empty feeling and anxiety...
  12. I know what you mean about the herbals. I switched over to natural stuff - skin care, hair color, laundry detergeant, cleaning supplies - you name it prior to dx. Then, with DH had to go back to chemicals because I didn't know what was triggering it, and some had gluten, some had iodine, all were high sals. Now I'm battling xenoestrogens - chemicals...
  13. There's a study out there from Italy that says its safe because a statistically significant portion of the subjects did not react - meaning Celiacs reacted but not enough of them. I react to topicals with denatured wheat germ oil - I had a Devita moisturizer with it in it. Took a few months of gluten-free but then my eyes started swelling. So, I don't...
  14. I developed mastitis about 2 weeks pp. then I got a yeast infection on my chest that multiple rounds of diflucan wouldn't fix. I soaked in tubs of Aveeno, tried tinctures, everything...sound familiar??? Only thing that solved it was to stop nursing (btw son would not nurse so I was pumping ALL DAY and NIGHT). I had one red spot near my bra line forever...
  15. I think I have a spot on my finger that showed up after I had the flu. It's either some other weird rash that won't go away and is round/bubbly but not contagious but spreads, or DH ...sound familiar? I also wonder if the herpes whitlow on my hand I was dx'ed with as a child was actually DH. Geez. At least it's not on my pits this time. And it's...
  16. I understand. Everyone is so different, it's impossible to predict this stuff. Homemade yogurt is supposed to be easy. I'm going to try making my own coconut based (but that's out for you because of sals). You'll find tons of recipes for milk based. I'm trying kefir, actually. Found some cultures at the store. Your best bet, for awhile, is to get...
  17. Other things can trigger an outbreak - salicylates, iodone, I've seen bromines mentioned...but the underlying cause is gluten. I have seen mention of other skin diseases with similar etiologies mentioned. Are you looking for differentials or an alternative cause for the diease?
  18. He either will or he won't. All you can do is lead by example, tell him how to get tested, point out the obvious and then shut your mouth. De Nile just ain't a river in Egypt, and some people are so far down it they're almost in South Africa.
  19. 1) an additional food intolerance or unknowingly having gluten exposure 2) you need a different thyroid med and someone to address the full circle of thyroid - supplaments, meds, adrenals, hormones 3) another ai disease? 4) you need a good functional medicine doctor like an ND. A good one. They're hard hard to find. Check the licensing board in your...
  20. Have you read the ingredient list to see what they have in common and how they are different from the other products! Are you eating them with milk? Do you always eat them at the same time of day? Oddly enough, sometimes milk helps with stomach acid issues. I know you'll read otherwise but it does that for some people. And finally, sometimes there...
  21. So ate you supposed to pick the restaurant or did he pick one? If you have a choice, pick a reputable one that gluten-free well. If not, call them and see if they can accommodate you and take it from there.
  22. Amines and salicylates. Google it. Sorry so short on phone at restaurant.
  23. Yes. Relief from symptoms when you start the gluten free diet. You may be NCGI - and there's no test for that. Only solution is to stop eating gluten.

    ARCHIVED Need Advice

Measure out the broth you'll eat for a few days, and put the rest in 8 oz. containers in the freezer for another day. Go to the University of Chicago Celiac Center and look for their 1 pagers. They have a great one on testing. Take the Digestive Enzymes with your big meals or as directed on the bottle. Follow the directions on the bottle for the probiotics...
  25. At 8 they are quite capable of making their own decisions and learning the hard way. My son is almost 10 and is adamant he doesn't have a food intolerance. He is 100% fine, he just KNOWS it, and he yells it at me loudly if I dare to have a different opinion. My house is gluten-free. I tried df and had an all-out flop. I could send gluten-free/df meals...
