  1. Double dark chocolate and sea salt caramel... in cones? Yes yes yes please!!! My neuro doubled my gabapentin and it had the most god-awful side effect ever. I'm going off it but the only joy left me right now is probably gelato so I gotta get some until I'm off these meds. I did see my pain doc today though and he got me on an accelerated titration for getting...
  2. I don't have any gelato right now.
  3. I'm always off by a day I guess. Sunday night we had tacos, which was a day early. Last night we had pasta. Day early again. At least I'm ahead of schedule instead of behind. I think we're having burgers tonight. I didn't make plans and it's getting kind of late and I still haven't made plans. That sort of turns it into burger night. Some sort of veggie...
  4. I find that I have no problems at the store finding dried beans without a "packaged in/on/with blah blah blah" statement. Rinse well before using because that's the directions anyway and on I go. I do though usually buy canned because it's easier, I don't need the hassle of turning dry beans into food when I need 1 can cooking for 2 people. If you go into...
  5. Yes, it is genetic. Everyone who has it has the genes for it but not everyone who has the genes for it has celiac. Having the genes simply means you may get celiac. You could could have many relatives in your ancestry (or alive) who have the genes and never developed the disease. There is also no way to know how many in your ancestry may have died of celiac...
  6. I had negative blood work. Based on your biopsy, genes and if you're feeling better gluten-free that should confirm a celiac diagnosis. Open Original Shared Link I don't see why you're "officially and unofficial celiac." Yes, you should have your vitamin levels checked and see what you may need to supplement. If your doctor won't check, and won't consider...
  7. I never realized the rash on my back was DH. It came and went, but never quickly, over the years. My lower back and my neck are covered in scars from scratching until I bled and scratching more. I ruined shirts, and kept scratching. It took it clearing up, then breaking out again once after my diagnosis for me to figure out what it was. It was never large...
  8. Free/free? Sounds awesome! Have a great time! I've been seeing stuff about it and it looks like a great time planned.
  9. I spent the day organizing and doing stuff today. I had my sewing area sort of in front of the door to apartment and we were sliding through sideways to get in and I had bad light. I moved my sewing area today to the living room attached to the kitchen so I have lots of light from a big window. I told my husband to go find dinner in the deep freezer. He came...
  10. Like someone else mentioned, have you eliminated all sources of CC in your house as suspects? You aren't sharing cutting boards, colanders or wooden spoons with wheat eaters? You use stainless steel pans if you share pans? Lots of it is explains in the newbie thread that was linked, much more than I'll think to mention here. And while we all (every one of...
  11. My husband is away for a sleep study again tonight. He didn't sleep enough the first time to get enough readings to be conclusive about needing a c-pap so they're just going to try one to see if it helps since he obviously has at least a moderate apnea problem. I was at the office late (it feels so weird to say that!) with my best friend setting up all my...
  12. Hives are generally due to an allergy. Does she have a pet that sleeps in her bed? Anything else she is exposed to overnight that she isn't exposed to any other time? I'm quite familiar with hives (which aren't DH to the best of my knowledge/experience) and it's normal for me to have them crop up, then go within hours once I'm no longer in contact with the...
  13. This is the study that people like to use to justify celiacs eating sourdough. Open Original Shared Link It was 16 patients, not enough to be conclusive and only 5 of the patients were even given the "sourdough" product which was made with a specialized flour if my memory serves me correctly. I have not jumped in and re-read it this evening. Basically, it...
  14. We're so off topic. But one of my local grocery stores had actual Twinkie branded and whatever their cupcakes are called branded baking kits. Came with pans, little cookbooks. All the good stuff. I almost bought one thinking I could just make them gluten free but I got all mad like a petulant toddler that there wasn't a Ho-Ho recipe and walked off. Yeah....
  15. It is scientifically impossible for gluten to be in distilled anything. Enjoy!
  16. I have different reactions. The one time I got accidentally CC'd with barley I ended up halfway to the bathroom (I'm maybe 10-12 feet from the door) curled up in a ball because I couldn't make it all the way. Not for what we all assume either. My husband quickly noticed my distress and grabbed the nearest thing at hand before I barfed all over the carpet...
  17. It comes as a black and white set. I had intended when I went into the store to buy the plain little ball that is either red, blue or green and clear. But my husband was all omg this is so cute! And I was like yeah, it's freakin' adorable. And $20. (on sale!) We walked a bit and came back to it deciding we needed both a move in gift and could pass on a few...
  18. You guys are funny. I'm not complaining about the size of the kitchen, was just mentioning that it's small. The only downside to it is if we're passing each other we're rubbing up against each other. Well, maybe that isn't a downside after all. There is a "cabinet" around the corner (freestanding) to use as a pantry, that's what makes it feel small. The...
  19. We all get glutened from time to time, it happens. It isn't anyone's fault (usually) and as long as it isn't happening often I doubt you need to change anything at home. Maybe it's happened at restaurants or with well meaning friends or something else, but it happens. I don't think any of us should jump to the conclusion that the OP isn't doing something...
  20. This is my new kitchen. It isn't large, but it's all mine! One from right after I finished cleaning and the other is after I moved in my stuff, the counter appliances and such are (maybe) where I like them.
  21. I have an amazing husband who worked his butt off on his day off for me. Halfway through the move I decided I wanted a little lunch. Exactly when the dishes were 100% in the new kitchen and the food was 100% in the old kitchen. Not exactly helpful for finding a meal. Lucky me I had one leftover slice of pizza that I threw in my little oven on a piece of foil...
  22. Lemme know how they turn out and what recipe you use. I haven't made cookies yet and my husband just spent his day off carrying heaving stuff to my new kitchen for me instead of playing video games. And I'm dragging him shopping and to my vendor meeting. I don't think the rib eyes I decided on for dinner are gonna cut it for a thank you. The carpets are being...
  23. Velveeta also makes cheese sauce in a packet now that you can just squeeze out onto your pasta that is easier even than the block. It's something like $2-3 for a box of 3. They're great for my husband. I can just cook up a batch of gluten-free pasta and throw that on there and it's perfect. And I may sneak a few bites no matter how bad I know it is for me...
  24. Seen dx celiacs post here about taking burgers off buns, meat/veggies off sandwiches. I've talked to one (in person) who I had to explain to about regular Rice Krispies. The beer thing comes up all the time. What if someone uses regular Rice Krispies and doesn't know? What if someone makes a dish with Omission beer in it, or even regular beer because they...
  25. Yes. I think it's generally awesome for a box mac & cheese. I can only say that it is way better with the butter than without. I only know this because I once realized after I had the pasta in the water that I had no butter or I wouldn't know.
