I believe this is what any of us familiar with food service would refer to as a #10 can. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Have A Really Random Allergy?
Adalaide replied to pretty in paleo's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I recently decided to become allergic to the sun. Or rather, my body decided this for me. Not on the top of my list of things I'd opt to be allergic to. I also believe that the reaction I had to an avocado was an oas allergic reaction. The more I delve into that the more it makes sense, as I've been trying to discover if I have a chamomile problem as... -
ARCHIVED The New Celiac Drug Is Out There
Adalaide replied to gatita's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
We would like to think that... but instead it will lead to people just being diagnosed, prescribed a pill and making no life changes. They'll get sick from the pill, it will work half-assed at best with no diet changes and people will still drop like flies from celiac. I don't see this as a win at all. -
ARCHIVED Pre-Made Mixes Vs. Individual Ingredients
Adalaide replied to djs89's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
When you start talking about things that are basic baking supplies, I don't count those as baking expenses and never have. There are more things I need baking powder, spices, things like that in my kitchen for than baking. With the flours, sure you pay whatever for a bag, but it isn't like you are using a whole bag of it for a loaf of bread. Maybe you live... -
ARCHIVED Cascadian Farms Frozen Veggies
Adalaide replied to Gfresh404's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't ever seen that brand available here but one of the things you could do is contact the company about production practices. You'll want to contact Cascadian Farms directly and not GM about this as they'll be more knowledgeable about their own production practices than their parent company is. If they use any gluten containing ingredients on their... -

One of the things to simply accept is that gluten free bread is not gluten bread. It will not have the same texture, or the same taste. It also is not any less "real" because of this. The sooner you accept it for what it is, the sooner you will enjoy it for what it is instead of hating it for what it isn't. I'm not sure what bread you've been trying, but... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Adalaide replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have no idea yet what is for dinner. My husband is working tonight at the grocery store closest to home and I told him to surprise me. Wednesday I woke up sick as a dog. Just nauseous and icky. I felt mildly better yesterday, until I had horrid pain in my lower right side which sent us to the ER. At this point I was like score, I get to have my appendix... -
ARCHIVED What Do You Buy From Costco, Sams?
Adalaide replied to Christine0125's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So I was back at Costco today (I have issues okay?) and they have BRM AP flour! The girl in line in front of me said that the 5 lb bag she was buying at Costco was the same price she usually pays for 1 lb anywhere else. -
ARCHIVED Disney Thinks Bullying A Gluten-Free Kid Is Funny
Adalaide replied to carisima's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
When a roll goes off target (food fights style), it is funny! It is one thing entirely when we poke fun at ourselves. I do it, and my husband does too within what he knows are my boundaries. It is entirely another thing when someone maliciously throws food at someone else, especially a child. It made me so sad to think that a show aimed a children was... -

ARCHIVED The New Celiac Drug Is Out There
Adalaide replied to gatita's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Here is my problem with this drug. It isn't being developed to make our lives better in the way that we all envision a better life in a world filled with gluten. A magical pill that can prevent us from getting horridly ill when we dine out or eat at our well-meaning friend's house, etc. It is being developed by people who for some reason have this skewed... -

I don't eat anything from there that has a "produced in a facility" warning. Their chocolate covered caramel macadamia nuts do NOT have this warning. -

I buy pillows. And kitchen appliances. I was there yesterday. They have Gorilla Munch!!! I was so excited. I've also occasionally found a gluten free Nature's Path cereal. They also had a few of kinds of gluten free soup in boxes. I of course have all sorts of additional intolerances and can't have them, but they looked yummy! -
I wonder if either of you will care!

This is all common knowledge by now but something that everyone involved in the movie went to great lengths to keep under wraps until it was released. If you haven't see those though, while you may miss out on some trekkie jokes it won't take away from your enjoyment of the movie as long as you saw the last one.

I make it for my husband when I am going to be ask him for something I know he won't want to say yes to. Always a day or two before I ask so it doesn't seem like bribery.

If I had to wake up every day smelling bacon I couldn't eat I'd go crazy! On the other hand, I agree that I'd do nearly anything to keep my daughter happily working.

Um.... well.... its like this... your milkshake didn't make it home. It was delicious though! Driving past the place on my way home is not at all conducive to making it home without fast food. I guess it was a burger kind of day here too! -

There should be in mine. It's just that someone always thinks it is there for some nefarious purpose I guess and takes it out. The pineapple upside down cake my husband made for his mother on Mother's Day is still smoking on the bottom of the oven. It is entirely possible I handed him my old springform. So I am subbing today for a full day and my husband... -
Go! You won't be sorry. I will definitely be going to see it in theaters again when it gets to the $1 theater. Maybe even more than once.

Essential Baking Company bread Kirkland organic chicken stock I've been known to pick up meatballs and warm chickens on occasion. I get frozen veggies and fruits and chicken breasts. My husband stocks up on Trio bars there, they also have Lara bars but he isn't the fan I was before I had to give them up. (can't have dates, they're perfectly safe for... -
Because of the complicated circumstances around my endoscopy I was put to sleep for it and so don't remember a thing other than waking up with a sore freakin throat. It was like steel wool in the Sahara I can not recommend enough having a stock of Halls on hand for the evening. I'm not sure how common it is, but my sore throat took a bit to go away. Some...

I don't use hairspray or other hair products so wouldn't know a thing about them. I am quite in the habit of touching my hair throughout the day because it is long and I keep it down. I wouldn't want to get anything, gluten or otherwise that is in hairspray or other products into my mouth accidentally. As for pet food, I will say first that I am the... -
My husband was surprised when I went into the herb shop and picked up a rather large (to him) bag of lavender. He asked what I was going to do with it and I told him I would use it to flavor water and eat it. He was like you can eat lavender? Yes. I also keep almost buying a lavender cake mix at the health food store.
