  1. I pictured you a little more like this after that trip up the stairs. I'm surprised you found energy for all that running around.
  2. My husband whined about it a little, but meatloaf tonight. I'm making two small ones, one for tonight and one for next week so I can get a night off the hook. I think we'll just have baked potatoes with green onions and I may make myself some fried green beans.
  3. I'm pretty sure the only real sports we do in Utah are soccer and basketball, but it is really cool that it is opening up nationwide for fans to be able to eat when they head out to see their favorite team. Beer and sports? Definitely a coping thing for a lot of people. I may be too nerdy for sports, but I understand that some people are into that sort of...
  4. Tonight I am finishing off last night's pizza. My husband won't touch my pizza. He doesn't like chunky sauce, at all, or vegetables on pizza. So the homemade, thick, chunky tomato sauce with roasted tomatoes and peppers, and the roasted mushrooms and onions made sure that he was keeping his grubby mitts off my pizza. He can eat his poison pizza. I'll finish...
  5. HAH! I did this with the peas. I wouldn't touch the things cooked as a child. Frankly, I still prefer a cold pea salad to cooking them which should be a crime. So funny that we waited for them to turn their backs. As if we were sneaking and they didn't know we were pilfering their gardens. It is amazing the things you can trick a child into when you let them...
  6. I didn't have a single cherry tomato make it into the house last summer. Every last one got eaten like candy while I watered the plants. My Grammy will peel a tomato and slice it and just serve it with lunch that way. I learned to enjoy my veggies simply, there isn't much homemade tomato sauce making that goes on on my family farm.
  7. I love love love tomatoes. They apparently do not love me back. I learned this days after planting 7 heirloom yellow tomato plants. I will grow them anyway and eat what I find is tolerable for me and give the rest away. Our first three poked their first little leaves up today! They still spend their nights indoors though, it is far too chilly overnight for...
  8. I invoke my right not to incriminate myself.
  9. Hey! I haven't put anything in my eye for like... 3 days! Or done anything else stupid. Tonight I am roasting my tomatoes to make sauce for pizza tomorrow. Since I can eat whatever I want whenever I want tomorrow. I also have roasted anaheim peppers and I'll roast some mushrooms. My husband doesn't eat tomatoes and I needed to use them up. Plus I have...
  10. Elderberry? Now you have my attention! My husband was at work all day and I am, quite frankly, high as a kite on lortab, so there was no going to the store for anything. No matter how medically relevant. I'm lucky I can walk to the kitchen. I will attempt to find some in the morning though when the drug store opens. Zinc has an interaction warning with my...
  11. Hey, that is what I looked like all weekend! I also need to take my own advice. I am currently (don't kill me) waiting for a huge dish of mac & cheese to come out of the oven. After I polish off the whole thing in about 2 days, I will follow that advice or at least attempt to. *sigh* Can I just say that life without cheese sucks? Someone may need to drag...
  12. I never consider anything I put in my body harmless. A recent enlightenment has simply reinforced this for me. With celiac it takes the grain of sand in a swimming pool to set off the autoimmune reaction from gluten. I have issues, like you do, with intolerances to foods. Seemingly healthy foods, that leave me a complete train wreck. If things that are generally...
  13. You should find a place in your kitchen to store that thinger where you will notice that it exists and use it more often. That thinger is one of the most miraculous kitchen appliances ever designed. It isn't even just for days you won't be home all day. I use it all the time for when I am just too damn lazy to cook. Or when I think it might do a better job...

I managed to have a full blown panic attack in the dentist's office today. So... go me? The positive of that is that I they realize I have no intentions of seeing that other dentist again. Of course, I feel like a complete idiot. He prescribed me some lortab to get me through the next few days, and I can not express how thrilled I am at that. I usually either...
  15. I will be fantabulous in about 15 minutes. I was at the dentist's office (I'm sure they were thrilled with my panic attack in an office full of kids) and he offered lortab. I usually decline pain pills but right now I'm not sure I'd decline someone running over my foot if it would take my mind off of the pain. Your macaroons look divine. I must eventually...
  16. I can have lentils in very serious moderation. If I'm not careful I'll end up blind as a bat. Probably the day after you leave. Murphy and his stupid law. Not that I am not laughing at the idea of it warming up to 0. More carrot soup today. I have to eat before 4 since I can't have dairy past then. Stupid antibiotics. Maybe a mashed potato...
  17. This is also a very good point. No matter how much of a hurry you are in, your water must be at a full rolling boil before you add pasta. Skipping this is a recipe for disaster. And, it is also important that it boil again. Not sort of simmer, or have a little movement on top, but actually boil. A little water getting on the stove isn't going to be the end...
  18. I have found that I absolutely have to use a larger pot than I think I need, and more water. It is also important to stir immediately after the noodles are in the water, and very frequently. Make sure you get into the corners of the pot when you stir or you may end up with stickers there. As for spaghetti? The only long noodles I ever liked were angel hair...
  19. My mom loves oysters. Maybe it was that she never made them when I grew up, but I just never acquired the taste. It doesn't matter really, Utah or PA, April doesn't have me past frost and hard freeze weather. Too soon to be thinking about floating weather. I was trying to enjoy spring today, 55 with puffy clouds and some warm sun. Patios and wine sound...
  20. Everything that goes in my mouth hurts. On top of everything else, I started having neuropathy pain and tingling last evening. I managed an avocado last night, just to discover that I may have an intolerance to them. (I will spare the details where we talk about food.) Another will be ready tomorrow and we'll see. I've never just eaten one before, I always...
  21. Hah! It is short sleeve weather here at 45! I left work yesterday without my coat after going all bundled up when it was 20 freaking degrees. Today I get spring sprinkles and 55 for another Dr. appointment. Three times huh? I'm surprised it took that long for you to have your toys taken away. It sounds like the sort of thing someone does on purpose so...
  22. We had some pinhead sized hail while we were in the yard planting tomato seeds on Monday. Potted tomatoes, not ground tomatoes. Perfect, beautiful, sunny, hail weather. I was comfy in a t shirt and I'm always cold. Last night we had a hard freeze, it was 20 when I left the house to go to work. Utah has some freaky spring weather. Did I mention before...

OMG, I can't stand people who treat patients as if they are voodoo dolls while they play with their needles. Do we look like human freakin pincushions? I get that people like Halloween. I get that it is a fun holiday. I get that people want to dress up and have a good time and generally this is probably acceptable in work places. In a place where people...
  24. I'm sure I'll find the courage for that later. I was at work all day, and the idea of salt sounds painful no matter how good for me I know it is.
  25. BINGO! I think that some of us are just different. I couldn't stand the weather last time I visited PA and it was only in the 80s most days. It was all I could to to drag myself from bed to the shower to a chair to sweat in all day. I hated the humidity growing up, and I hate it more now. To be fair though, my hair lost all its curl when I came to Utah...
