ARCHIVED Skin Sensitivity (Touch)
1desperateladysaved replied to moosemalibu's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, I have decreased skin sensitivity. At one time I burnt my finger deeply before I noticed that it was on the stove! Nutrients did improve that, however, I still am not ticklish or feel pleasure from touch. Over the years I have had brief occasions that I could feel for some days. This gives me hope that it will resolve one day. I remember when... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Have Iron Deficiency Anemia As Only Sign Of Celiac?
1desperateladysaved replied to MoMof2Boyz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I did, but I seemed to need a continuous supply of iron and never seemed to have too much! D -
Thanks. My young adult children really say they would eat normal anyway. Not sure how they can say that when they have watched their Mom. The light is dawning though. Inadvertently struck them sad last night by mentioning someone planned to study unborn deaths to see if the child had celiac disease. I had heard about it at the summit yesterday and have...

Thanks for giving an update. She is starting to get better and would be glad to hear of her symptoms subsiding soon. D

I have just passed through several days of cramping, swelling, and gassiness. All of this as a result of nothing specific that I know of. Perhaps after 19 months gluten free it is just further recovery. Happily, I woke up today without the cramping and felt excellent since. . Previous blood counts, over the passed 5 years, showed immature blood cells...

I know the forum is constantly holding out antibody blood tests as part of the diagnostics. I heard yesterday of saliva test for antibodies and wonder if these had been considered My daughters tested negative to the recommended battery of tests even though they have symptoms. I am looking for options and non-options. D

ARCHIVED Amazing Lectures At The Gluten Summit
1desperateladysaved replied to CR5442's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yesterday I heard: There are saliva tests for antibodies which can be done at 3 months. (Want to check what others experience with this is) My rotational diet may be dangerous. 50% of people with celiac test negative when only one kind of antibody is checked. One can react to minute quantities of things in the air. I don't mean to debate any of... -
ARCHIVED Amazing Lectures At The Gluten Summit
1desperateladysaved replied to CR5442's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Dr. Marsh (You know the Marsh scale?) spoke and I had a chance to listen to part of it. He made the statement that if one is positive for antibodies, but has a negative endoscopy they should be told to do a gluten free diet. He has an interesting accent and it was fun to listen. D -
ARCHIVED Amazing Conversations
1desperateladysaved replied to WinterSong's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My 9 year old daughter reads labels for me. She also keeps track of which day I am on in my 4 day rotation. If I need to know if I can eat apples today or not, she "Remember the last time you ate them you had apple pie with pumpkin seed crust?" My adult daughter came to me with tears in her eyes. She had allowed gluten in "my car." The next day she... -
ARCHIVED Someone To Listen!
1desperateladysaved posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I told my youngest daughter (9-years old) that nobody around here wants to hear about my struggles with celiac anymore. "Oh," she said ,"Mommy, I want to talk to you about it. I am interested!" D -
ARCHIVED Ughhh Corn , And Other Stuff?
1desperateladysaved replied to w8in4dave's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I do rotational diet plan. I do create my own recipes. I do keep it simple meat and vegetables. Somehow, I find something to eat and I enjoy it besides! D -
ARCHIVED Wrinkles Under Your Eyes Aka Dennie Morgan Lines
1desperateladysaved replied to Porcelina's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I used to have eczema in young adulthood. I notice my puffy eyes quite frequently. I have never asked my doctor about it since I have so many things to ask about. D -
ARCHIVED Question About Genetic Testing
1desperateladysaved replied to blmoreschi's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Have you one or two copies of DQ2? It is possible to have 2 copies. If you only have one copy, I don't think one could be sure which the child received. Will the company that did the test help you by answering this question? My understanding of genetics (which is very little) leads me to believe they can tell which genes the child has come from mother... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy & Colonoscopy On Monday!
1desperateladysaved replied to JessaBeth's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I hope you get definitive results. Are you going gluten free right after? Best wishes for losing those symptoms! D -
ARCHIVED How To Investigate A Celiac Diagnosis W/o Eating Gluten?
1desperateladysaved replied to NanaV's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I ordered a test from a company that does mail order tests. The forum won't allow me to disclose their name. I had a great experience with the company. Since my blood tests were 4/4 gene alleles, they later told me that my parents each had the genes. They were more helpful than they had to be. Also the test involved (only) rubbing a swab in the cheek... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Sensitivity - Concentration
1desperateladysaved replied to joshy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Some brands of supplements are tested by an independent lab. They usually are not the cheapest brands. -
ARCHIVED So Many Things Wrong With Me And No Answers...help
1desperateladysaved replied to Angiemommyof3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with NVSmom. You may not have been thoroughly checked for celiac. It can cause thyroid issues. My Functional Medicine Nurse thought that ADHD can be linked to gluten intolerance. It is certainly possible and I would do all of the tests the doctors do and then try the diet for several months. I hope you will have a definative diagnosis and... -
ARCHIVED Feeling So Horrible
1desperateladysaved replied to Ys255's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had troubles a few months after I went gluten free. I got worse before I got better. I believe I did experience withdrawal and or problems with cross contamination during that time. I would recommend continuing the diet for at least 6 months while still considering other options. Make sure to refine your gluten free diet, other gluten product use, and... -
ARCHIVED I Have An Answer - Sort Of
1desperateladysaved replied to sweetsailing's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am so glad you are feeling better. Celiac and reproductive troubles are linked, but I am not sure of a blood clot in particular. I shared some of your symptoms: Brain fog, fatigue, bloating were my 30+ year weights. I also get fluid retention, up to 30 lbs! I am feeling much better at 19 months gluten free. D -
ARCHIVED Eczema
1desperateladysaved replied to Porcelina's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had eczema in my late teens and early twenties. Cortisone cream would take away the itch and help clear it in days. However, it seemed to come back with a vengence as soon I stopped putting it on the spot! I learned to go without it. Mine itched big time and it felt better when I scratched it open. (Not a recommended procedure) I had pityriasis... -

ARCHIVED Grain Free Diet?
1desperateladysaved replied to w8in4dave's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have a problem with corn and get similar bloating, but no way of really knowing what is happening in the small intestine. Would be nice to be able to check some gage to find out. This gage could say, "Corn is causing me a pain." or "Everything is fine in here!" My gage would need to tell me a gluten reaction or other reaction also. -
Brain Fog Recovery.
1desperateladysaved replied to jpt2014's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
OOps, I missed my other answer to this somehow, I hope you won't mind. Brain fog for 30 years and I have been delivered from it. I am about 18 months gluten free. Here is a list of things I have done: prayed for healing. took vitamin and mineral supplements. went gluten free. went grain free. read the forum for instruction and ideas. waited... -
ARCHIVED Recovery Time?
1desperateladysaved replied to ElenaMadrid's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome Elena, If you have a gluten problem, it will take less time to get better on the gluten free diet than off. How long were you sick? How nutritious is your food? Do you know where to look for gluten? Do you take supplements? Do you have other intolerances? Are you willing to stick to the gluten free diet 100%? Do you share your kitchen... -
ARCHIVED Hair Loss/thinning
1desperateladysaved replied to ItchyAbby's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hair: In 2007 and noticed hair got short in the back. I had to wear hoodies to keep the back of my neck warm. This happened without any realization of large quantities of hair coming out. I take it that my hair simply stopped growing as long. My hair was thin and tended to be snarly. I noticed changes in my hair when I went gluten free and had supplements...
