  1. My chiropractor and her family were able to overcome other intolerances after going gluten free. She is hoping that I will recover and be able to have things back too. I would like spicy foods back! I would like some dairy back. I am happy with what I eat now.
  2. Oh, Adalaide, I feel for you. I have been on both sides of this now and don't like it. I am glad you came up with a plan. I thought of another plan for someday. How about having someone come to your kitchen and cook? Maybe if it were a good friend. I am going to stew on that. I might feel safe. ON the other side, I never really feel comfortable...
  3. Hi Ruthie, It sounds like you have a great start: A definative diagnosis and some learning about gluten. I was diagnosed by a trial diet and then a genetic test. I had the genes for celiac and a positive response to the diet. The MD felt there was no need for a biopsy. Since, we have found more evidence that I am suffering from celiac. But I am getting...
  4. Fear of lectures and disapproval.
  5. My low iron, I suspect, is tied to celiac. Yeah, low iron just doesn't feel good. So, I hope you can get help and definative answers soon. Diana
  6. Almond flour mixed with a little vanilla makes a nice tasting pastry filling. I found a recipe online.
  7. I like muffins made with nut flours. My whole family liked them with fenugreek. I really like kidney beans and lentils with olive oil, and salt. I like meat. I look forward to sweet potato day. When I don't have a sweet potato, carrots cooked to carmelized on the stove are scrumptious. Speaking of carmelized home-grown-green-beans and any vegetable...
  8. Yeah, I call it fog and fatigue. I had that and bloating for 30 years. That was my main symptoms I had no pain as a noticeable reaction to eating. Have you had any testing? My situation was fairly complicated, but my mind is clear today! I hope you will be on the mend soon too. Diana
  9. I had 30 years of untreated celiac symptoms with virtually no pain as a reaction to eating. I was always hurting tired and foggy though. Have you had any testing done? Your situation sounds uncomfortable.
  10. Fat helps make you feel full and keeps you full. Have some good fat (about a tbsp) with 3 meals a day. It should also help provide energy if your body can break it down. I do this and my weight is stable. My weight is good! Good fat defined: butter, coconut oil, or olive oil. Then too, sometimes I have days like that for unknown reasons when I am...
  11. I enjoyed this this thread. I am so glad that Positive was given what she needed to take in to the doctors. It struck me that the tests may only have been asked for because Positive had been here reading. The diagnosis happened because people here helped. It is really too bad that we have to fight doctors to get tested, but good we have a place to go...
  12. I am hopeful you will progress well through the transition. You started well by asking here and there is much to learn. I think you eventually will see that she will react to accidental glutenings, so that you will be able to tell. Yet, some people don't. I discovered more and more sensitivity and a change in my reactions since I went grain free. I react...
  13. Molecular Analysis of DQA1 Genotype Gluten Sensitivity Positive 04-18-12 0501 (HLA-DQ2) Yes 04-18-12 0301 (HLA-DQ8) Yes Test Date Molecular Analysis of DQB1 Genotype Gluten Sensitivity Positive 04-18-12 0201 (HLA-DQ2) Yes 04-18-12 0302 (HLA-DQ8) Yes That is the best I can do. That is all of my genetic results. USA may not get so detailed results...
  14. Beware and watch out for hidden gluten. Check every label. You could be experiencing withdrawl symptoms or having cross contamination problems. I had both after going gluten free. Time will help you decide just what is going on. Just take steps and keep moving. It will take some time. You are on the road and headed in the right direction. Diana
  15. Yeah, I agree! I also agree with this is painful. I feel torn between heatth concerns and family ties.
  16. I heard not to play with your pet after dusting for fear that you will ingest a little. Strange to think of eating it.
  17. I hope you will get some definative answers soon. Diana
  18. I am double DQ2. Yes, I consider myself super sensitive to gluten. That is about all I know about it.
  19. I went 30 years undiagnosed. My family had no records of Celiac. I had mostly fatigue and bloating. I had not much diarreah and from 20 years or, so was not terribly thin. .I had several odd things occur over my 30 years that may have indicated a severe problem, but they were dismissed. My list: Low iron if not supplemented continuously...
  20. Part of the problem is that the symptoms they look for in celiac, (thiness, diarreah) aren't always there. It is also considered a "rare" condition, so usually it wouldn't bear checking out . It is also genetic, so the thought could be "if your family "doesn't have it" neither do you." How many people do you know that would check if they had it IF it...
  21. OH, sorry. I didn't have classic celiac symptoms either. However, I did have the extreme fatigue and bloating you talked about. I guess that is why I went undiagnosed 30 years. I finally got diagnosed by a trial diet and my reaction to it. I also had a genetic test and had the genes for celiac. Supplements have helped me a great deal along with...
  22. My situation is a little unusual to say the least. If I knew exactly what, I guess my decision could be easier. I don't know if my situation is dangerous (I doubt it) or just uncomfortable and am really not sure how I could find out.
  23. My kids don't think I should offer to cook. First off they don't think anyone would like to eat it. Then my parents and brother's family would have a long drive. Maybe if I dun a surgical mask?
  24. Wow! Get your test results and figure it out. It is so hard to go through confusion while you are sick. . You know that you can test negative and still have a gluten intolerance problem. I hope you will get some definitive tests and Soon. Diana
  25. Popcorn is corn, Ya know? I hope you are feeling better soon.
