My sisters, boyfriends, mom (lol) who is an amazing baker made a delicious chocolate cake using the Namaste chocolate cake mix. I thought the GFP and Pamelas ones where good... this one blows them away!

I love been a bunch of times (most recently this past Saturday) and one of my favorite things besides the obvious ease of ordering for a change, is that when they bring any of your food over before you even ask to confirm it's your gluten free dish - they say it. Judy - you have to get the gluten-free lettuce wraps!! Yummy in my tummy

I completely forgot one of my favorites, "So it's just like the Atkins diet." Ummmm not quite, but good try - lol. -
I wanted to let everyone know about a delicious soup I had yesterday at Whole Foods. It was a Shrimp Chowder (might have been a bisque). It was not with all the regular prepared foods but with the fish section. They list all the ingredients above the pots and any major allergens. I'm thinking about going back for more for dinner tonight.

Hey Ms. Met I've eaten mexican twice now and was fine both times. Although I admit the communication is a tad bit harder than some other restaurants. The 2 I went to are Rosa Mexicano (there are a couple in the city) and Casa Maya (in Scarsdale - in that shopping center by the A&P, next to Spiga).

From there gluten-free Bakehouse line I really like their Carrot Cake, which I add Duncan Hines Cream Cheese Frosting to. The Banana Bread is really good. The had a chocolate raspberry loaf which seems to be discontinued at the moment but that was awesome. I haven't tried to many of the other Bakehouse products but with the exception of the praire bread I... -

jkmunchkin replied to elfkin's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I'm so excited for you guys. A few of my friends have started to have kids and I was just saying a few months ago to DH wouldn't it be fun if a whole group of us took a vacation to Disney centered around our one friends 2 year old (ok the 2 year old was an excuse I just wanted to go to Disney). After reading this I really might try and organize it!! -

I've gotten a lot of these but some of my favorites are: 1. "So can't you have a pita or a wrap?' - Ok which part of wheat are we not understanding!!!! 2. "You're so lucky. That must be why you're so thin." - Ummm yeah I'm 28 years old, just diagnosed this summer. Sorry still trying to find the connection! And might I add what a field day it is being... -

ARCHIVED What Do You Do...
jkmunchkin replied to Moongirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I drink Pepto Bismol, use one of those little pillows you heat up in the microwave and if I have it handy drink some peppermint tea. I actually find walking around helps to, but it's usually the last thing I want to do. -

What about the MAC lipsticks? Or is it just the lipglass? To be honest the majority of any brand you buy is manufactured by 1 of 2 larger companies so I would have to assume that if a product from one is good they all are... -
It's a place in Westchester (Briarcliff Manor, NY to be exact) that you sign up for a session and you make 5 or 8 dishes (depending on which you choose). Once a month they have a gluten-free version of the class. I signed up for this last night, but now I just found out you don't get the recipes. They have everything laid out for you and then you just...

ARCHIVED Nervous About Endoscopy
jkmunchkin replied to floridanative's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You have absolutely nothing to be worried about!! I've had 2 in the past couple of years. The 1st was actually when I had self diagnosed myself (correctly) with H Pylori. The stories about this endoscopy have become legendary. Apparently, according to my then boyfriend (now husband) I told the nurses several very personal stories I would not have wanted to... -
My best friend when I get glutened is a bottle of Pepto, some peppermint tea and one of those heating things you put in the microwave. Then I usually try to go to sleep. Usually when I wake up in the morning my stomach feels a bit tender or kinda raw, but the majority of the pain is gone. It definately sucks. No 2 ways about it : ( Hope you feel better...

I actually just made a delicious gluten-free lasagna last week. Like Jessica I had never made lasagna until becoming gluten-free because I thought it would be so hard, and to be honest if I was in the mood for lasagna I would just go out to dinner. I used Tinkyada. I did boil the noodles but just so they were a little soft. I let the oven do the rest. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Go To Dr. Susie Lee At Columbia In Ny
jkmunchkin replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Doctors
It basically took 2 weeks of me calling repeatedly to finally find out if Dr. Lee takes my insurance (because Dr. Green doesn't). But once I found out that she does I was able to make an appt. pretty easy. I'm actually not really having to many problems on the diet, but I know you're supposed to go for blood work after 6 months of being on the diet. I... -
I figured since I live iN NY I might as well go to Columbia where they have the celiac special center. I can't get an appt. with Dr. Green but was able to get one with Dr. Lee. Anyone have any experiences with her?

ARCHIVED What's Your Favorite Cereal?
jkmunchkin replied to WGibs's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I like the Nature's Path Honey'd Corn Flakes. It's not something I love, but it doesn the trick when I want cereal. -
I love their chocolate milkshakes and am not opposed to eating a bunless burger with some ketchup and pickles on it, but does anyone have any info on whether any of their food is safe. Oh and also their fries. I think they are fried in dedicated fryers but not positive. I can e-mail the company but figured I would check here first.
