  1. Well someone needed to leave a comment for you! Have a great weekend!

  2. Like Deb mentioned, there is the GIG, which has local chapters. I highly recommend joining the national group---they have GREAT information/quarterly publications sent out that are wonderful. CSA is another group with local chapters www.csaceliacs.org CDF is another Open Original Shared Link with local chapters
  3. I just picked up some at Whole Foods and can't remember the brand name to save my life. But, they have some
  4. Hope you enjoy! *just a note, this book deals almost exclusively with Celiac, not non-Celiac gluten intolerance. However, many of the chapters would still be applicable (eating gluten-free, dealing with the gluten-free lifestyle, etc).
  5. Ark: I had it done in Dec. I had the bloodwork drawn on a Wednesday afternoon, two weeks and two days later (a Friday), I had an app't, and they were already in. I think it took exactly 10 business days. They fax the results to the doctor. My tests were not positive but not negative....trying to figure it out. Best of luck, Laura
  6. Although it looks "bad," MSG, under labeling laws in America, are safe. If they were not, they would have "wheat" listed next to it.
  7. If you have a gluten intolerance does that mean you must have celiac disease? Nope. There are various "issues" associated with gluten/wheat. Celiac Disease, which is an autoimmune disorder. Gluten intolerance that is not Celiac. Gluten allergy. You could be non-Celiac gluten intolerant, and you would test negative for Celiac, but you might...
  8. 9. Slackermommy and klavirista: We are happy that you have both found answers, and that you have made the leap into our community! I think one of the strengths of this board is that people really GET it. We get it because we've been there, and are there everyday. Granted, we all have our phases, but I don't think anyone on here has forgotten the...

    ARCHIVED Baltimore?

www.austingrill.com is a Washington DC local chain and has a location in Baltimore. I don't know exactly where it is, but there is info on their webpage. They have a gluten free menu and it is online. They also do brunch on the weekends. Enjoy
  11. I love bananas and peanut butter. Mmmmm.
  12. Angie: Congrats on having the "gold standard" of a Celiac diagnosis! Laura
  13. Deb, Thanks for posting that information and for your description. Today, I was one taco short, so I especially enjoyed it Laura
  14. I've done two different ones, and they were both gluten free. One was golytely and the other one was mixed with ginger ale (can't remember the name). That one was much easier than golytely!
  15. See my signature for the book title.
  16. Yall are killing me Bev, when I see you for brunch, I am warning you.......If I see tassles, I am not driving you back to the hotel. You'll have to find your own way back. Which, apparently, might not be a problem
  17. If you are talking about being IgA deficient, the correct test is the total serum IgA. This is not affected by gluten, whereas the other IgA's are. (I am IgA deficient) If you are having the other tests done, there are two outcomes: if she is positive, she definitely has it. if she is negative, it doesn't mean she doesn't have it, given that she...
  18. Adelle: WOW. I wish I had a good idea to give you! Don't you love doctors who tell you that you are "lucky" for this type of thing (I get that about being skinny all the time. I tell them that malnourished is not my favorite look. ha!) Sounds like you have tried all "obvious" ways to figure it out. I agree---Prednizone can certainly wreck havoc on...
  19. Kinnikinnick bagels, toasted, and warmed with sandwich meat/cheese of choice----very very good!
  20. Hey Gwendolene: I am a Celiac and Lutheran as well . I still take communion. In both Missouri Synod and ELCA churches, I have been fine doing whatever I feel to be comfortable. Often, I just take the wine or juice (however: you should note that if you have egg and dairy issues as well, they *can* be used in the wine making process and are not...
  21. Thanks, Donna!
  22. There is a really good forum (I can't remember the site offhand) about your type of colitis. Google "colitis" and "persky farms".....you'll find it. It is wonderful. I'm not discouraging you from our site at ALL! but they are really knowlegable about the other part of your diagnosis. (I was tested for it this summer, so I know a little bit about it...
