  1. Those rings can be associated with eosinophillic esophagitis (check out www.apfed.org). It is linked to other allergies/intolerances. It would be worth looking into. Laura
  2. Happy Birthday Chris! (even if you are a buckeye....)
  3. As mentioned, San J has actually two gluten-free versions: regular and low sodium. They have "normal" ones though---with gluten---so be sure to get the correct one! La Choy and Kroger's generic brand are also gluten-free. Ask away
  4. I recommend this site: Open Original Shared Link this is from it and would be of interest to you: Open Original Shared Link

  6. Any reference for the 84%?
  7. Love to fysh, I am about to head to bed, but I had to write to welcome you to the board and offer you words of encouragement. You will get through this---and this board is the best avenue to doing that! I didn't find it right away and wish I had...it would have saved me so much time, effort, and mistakes. The people on this board live with Celiac--...
  8. To clarify: Enterolab says they may be able to. No other labs have been able to replicate this. The "traditional" Celiac researchers and experts do not agree with his methods. His work and practices have not been published in peer-reviewed journals. We are all waiting for this! Plus, this quote indicates that those who do have Celiac (say, biopsy...

    ARCHIVED House

Considering all of the horrible doctors that I have seen in the past three years, my mom and I (both huge House fans) often joke---usually after seeing another idiot----that all we want is House!! I don't care how mean he is if he figures out what the heck is wrong with me!!! Heck, I have doctors that are mean to me and don't have a clue....so I might...
  10. I don't see any harm in testing them now. What can it hurt? The only thing you can gain is knowledge from this.... Knowing that they have Celiac, and then follow the gluten-free diet, which can prevent so many problems from undx'ed Celiac. Knowing that for now, they don't have Celiac. Knowledge is power....and I know as a caring mom, you...
  11. Lisa, Best of luck to you. You might want to mention to them that you didn't do well with their sedation last time, and want to ensure you are out the whole time. Let us know how it goes....
  12. Disney: Welcome to the board...I am happy you have found us! His results could indicate that your child has a problem with gluten, which is probably Celiac. Your child needs to continue to eat gluten before the biopsy. Do not start the diet until after the biopsy. Talk to your son's doctor and ask to have the full blood panel run. There are FIVE...
  13. I have used them before in cookies (maybe last year?) and they were safe. (If there is any wheat---it would have to be listed by law) Enjoy
  14. Caramel coloring can technically be derived from wheat, but luckily isn't very often, generally. With the new food labeling laws, if it was made from wheat, it would have to be listed. Yay for pepsi and coke

    ARCHIVED Outback

My Outback has had that warning as well, for a good period of time (like Guhlia's). I hope that other stores are updating theirs. Although, I will admit....the one I went to in Auburn (my very early diagnosis days), had probably the first gluten-free menu ever printed, it was that old....there weren't many people who asked for it, apparently! Thanks...
  16. Bev, I've heard varying rates, but they are all around/near this figure (i.e., high!). I have heard this from the numerous doctors I have seen over the past year . Sure explains a lot for me! L
  17. yes, what did you order? I used to work there, and there was not a single thing there I could eat. Interested to know what is safe now. Happy to hear it worked out well.
  18. As a company, Kraft will clearly list any gluten ingredients, so they should be easier to find a good bbq sauce. I have used some of theirs before, but I can't remember the type offhand (sorry!)
  19. I had the TSH, T3, T4, and autoimmune antibodies tests run.
  20. JK- Did you end up trying the AM pancake mix? I have never tried it...and would be interested. I use Bob's RM pancake mix with great success!! L
  21. No, there isn't anything that we can do to stop the autoimmune reaction. However, depending on the symptoms, there are some things that an help alleviate some of the symptoms. If she has diarrhea, Immodiums can be a help. Some people try to eat "soothing" foods....like mashed potatoes, soup, etc. I hope that this passes quickly for her!
  22. Jay: There are many, many, many opinions on this topic I have personally done very well with them, but I don't eat them very often. My mom makes me oatmeal/chocolate bars and then I eat a lot. It is so nice to be able to have something else to add to our diet (for those of us who do well with it). Here are two relatively recent convos on...
  23. Hi Kara, I am sorry you are having trouble finding out the answers to your health problems. In order to be properly tested for Celiac, you will need the full Celiac blood panel run. Celiac testing is different than allergy testing, as Celiac is an autoimmune disorder. Here is the list of tests you need run: Print it out and bring it to your GP or...
  24. I hope that she is okay....you must be so worried! But, the good thing is that she is getting the care she needs. Please keep us updated to let us know. She will be in my prayers.

    ARCHIVED New Here

Angie, Happy to have you on board! I'm sure you've figured this out from your readings already, but even if you test negative, you can still (and, your baby) have problems with gluten. So even after testing, if you try the diet and see that you feel better on a gluten free diet....that is enough to know that you have a problem with gluten, whether...
