  1. Yes I have had dreams about eating gluten-filled foods and then freak out Ah, the life of a Celiac.
  2. I think the rule is that if it is 100% something, then you don't need an ingredient list (i.e., sugar is 100% sugar, so there is no list). I don't know if this is applicable to this product? It was the only idea I had. I believe that Sargento cheese is fine-I use it all the time. There are many people who have trouble with dairy until they are fully...
  3. mmmm that sounds great!!!
  4. There is a whole thread about this......Hopefully someone will find it. But I'm pretty sure the answer is no in terms of gluten.
  5. about 10 months ..... including 1 women's health dr, 1 infectious disease dr, 1 GI, 1 General Practioner, and 1 rheumatologist..... just about every test in the book and it was my mom who came up with the idea for the dr to run the blood panel for Celiac!
  6. way to go, Jillian Janie-I think everyone can completely, 110% relate. We have all been there. I sometimes think I'm the biggest baby in the world-what grown (well, kinda, haha) woman cries over food????! And then I realize how 'weird' my Celiac world is and I give myself permission to get upset over it sometimes. It is frustrating.....I often joke...
  7. Outback, Pf Changs, Carrabas, and Bonefish Grill are some of the restaraunts that have gluten-free menus.
  8. I had a similar experience with a dietician (i.e., lack of knowledge about Celiac) shortly after I was diagnosed. However, I think that if you are going to a dietician/nutrionist armed with YOUR gluten knowledge, as well as 'menus' of what you eat on normal days, then maybe they can provide you with information in terms of what you need to supplement, etc...
  9. If I remember correctly, I think Jkmunchkin got married after diagnoses.....but got diagnosed after hiring/ordering from her caterer. Maybe she has some insight? I am in the MOH in my best friend's wedding and I have already told her not to worry about me! Since my parents live in the same town and will be at the wedding, rehearsal dinner, etc., I am just...
  10. If anyone calls, I'd be interested to know. Everything on there looks safe to me except modified food starch. Let's hope its not from wheat!
  11. it could have been the fries, or something else, or both! I have been sick from fries and it is not a good time. No matter what the source, after I am glutened, I get sick after eating safe foods sometimes bc my body 'hates' me at that point. I drink lots of water and like Karen, potatoes are one of my comfort foods! I would also re-check your labels-just...
  12. By chance, I had a dental cleaning shortly after I was diagnosed, by chance. They couldn't verify the ingredients so for my cleaning/polishing, they just used toothpaste with fluroide. At my new dentist, the hygenist gave me two options-regular cleaning or one with safe baking soda and a water spray. She said she actually prefers to use the baking soda...
  13. After I read that post, I called my mom who loves GMA. She said she taped it for me!!! Good, good Mom!
  14. The buttermilk biscuits are awesome!!!
  15. I don't know if it is gluten free, but if you post the ingredients and which ones you think are suspect, I'm sure we could come up with a good answer! MSG does not contain gluten. However, there is much discussion that it is not 'great' for you. But in terms of Celiac, it is safe.
  16. I don't fully understand it either, but the drug that is being worked on by Alba Therapeutics w/Dr. Fassano is related to zonulin....so it must be important! I would be interested in more info, also.
  17. I once thought I had a reaction to Tinkyada's pastas. I had been glutened earlier in the week, and then had some homemade mac and cheese with tinkyada, made by my mom. Had serious troubles for the rest of the day, but didn't match my normal Celiac symptoms. Realized around this time that it was the high amounts of dairy/casein after being glutened that...
  18. some Amy's brand frozen foods are gluten free!
  19. I don't mind being gluten free. I really don't, given the options (i.e. sick vs. not sick) Having said that, I would "cure myself" in a heartbeat if I could. Doesn't mean that I would eat bread etc everyday though. But Jnkmnky, I could use one of those bagels you were talking about recently!
  20. unfortunately, even changing gloves might only help so much. I had my person change gloves, all safe ingredients, and was sick as a dog!
  21. Judy-Come visit me in Virginia Beach and we'll have some great Pf Changs! Sorry that your experience left EVERYTHING to be desired. If you decide to go there again, maybe try asking for the manager to start with? Sometimes at other places, if I realize that I have an idiot, I just move right along to the manager. After working in a restaurant as a waitress...
  22. I am salivating at the thought. The last time I was in NYC was Dec 2003, sick with mono. (WHICH STARTED MY WHOLE CELIAC ORDEAL) Now I think I need to come back to eat for like 5 days straight and gain 10 lbs. I'd be ok with that, too!
  23. Ladies, I want to go!!! *Sniffle* Eat some for me!
  24. good call
