  1. Here is a recent thread on eating at wedding receptions, which will be similar to your event. Maybe this will give you some ideas. Open Original Shared Link
  2. I really like www.glutenfree4me.com Their bread comes thinly sliced, and it is delicious. I also like using their hot dog buns...not for hot dogs, but for slicing it up and using with dips, etc.
  3. The positive IgG could indicate a wheat intolerance/allergy, and not Celiac. from the FAQ on www.celiaccenter.org (Dr. Fasano is one of the leading Celiac pediatric physicians and researchers) There is a particular series of blood tests called the
  4. Well, its not margarine, but ghee is clarified butter, and does not have any casein in it (Safe or those with milk allergies, etc) Open Original Shared Link I also found mine at whole foods.
  5. Debbie, I can't remember....have you re-done his Celiac blood panel, and if so, what were the results?
  6. forgot to post the other link: Open Original Shared Link
  7. Inflamm Bowel Dis. 2005 Jul;11(7):662-6.Links High prevalence of celiac disease among patients affected by Crohn's disease.Tursi A, Giorgetti GM, Brandimarte G, Elisei W. Digestive Endoscopy Unit, "Lorenzo Bonomo" Hospital, Andria, Italy. antotursi@tiscali.it BACKGROUND: Recent literature has shown a correlation between Crohn's disease (celiac disease...
  8. There could be many sources. Chicken: the broth, or could be marinated with soy sauce that has wheat in it As mentioned above, bread crumbs. I would take the approach of assuming that it does have gluten, and then being pleasantly surprised if it is safe. Assuming that things are gluten free and then eating it is very risky.
  9. 1. Depends on the lab. 2. Depends on your insurance agreement with that lab. They might charge, for example, $100. But, their agreement with your insurance is that they only have to pay, say, $30. If you didn't have insurance, you'd pay the full price. Instead, you (or your insurance) pays the negotiated amount.
  10. Did they run the FULL Celiac panel? Might be something to look into. AGA IgA and IgG EMA tTG Total Iga Best of luck!
  11. Juliela---thanks for that information!
  12. Hi BellasMom, Your post wasn't originally pinned (its been busy on the board lately, so it probably got overlooked), so thats probably why you didn't get any responses. Hopefully someone will chime in. Is she eating restaurant food at all? Have you checked her medications for gluten? Is she eating at daycare/school/friend's houses that aren't safe...

  14. Have you had a follow up appointment with your doctor? Have your antibody levels been checked to see how well you are responding to the diet? Are you getting glutened or are pretty much 100% gluten-free? Vitamin/mineral levels checked? I would be concerned that something else is going on, and would see my doctor to talk about these issues. Sometimes...
  15. The product is gluten free, but not dairy free. Contains skim milk powder.
  16. Often, if a company/store is already doing business with a company (like Kinni), then its generally fairly easy to have them add your store to their list of distribution. Same with if they already use a brand, but don't carry a certain product of theirs that you would like, its easier to have them add it. I think its wonderful that Kinni. is in more mainstream...
  17. I think that should be this thread's motto
  18. Stef and Angie, I just wanted to wish you both the best of luck with your upcoming arrivals! You are both inspirations....you, and all mothers! Anxiously awaiting the big day for you two!
  19. See this link, from a very recent thread: Open Original Shared Link
  20. Welcome to the board! If you are in shipping range of this company, I would check them out...they are delicious!!! Open Original Shared Link
  21. I answered your question yesterday about your dressing. Knowing how to read labels will decrease your anxiety about trying foods. Asking if they are safe vs. if someone has tried them are two separate things. If someone has tried them, it might have been a year ago, and it was/wasn't safe then....and it could have changed now. Your best bet...
  22. I would recommend the book by a leading Celiac expert from Columbia University, Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic by Dr. Peter Green. Get a copy for yourself, and then loan it to her. Let her know that this is as serious as a food allergy, or diabetes, or some other health condition. Its non-negotiable.
  23. That list is helpful, but doesn't tell the whole story. 1. The Food Allergen Labeling Law now requires any of the 8 main allergens to be clearly listed, and not hidden in flavorings, starch, etc. Wheat is one of the 8 main allergens (but, gluten is not). So, if you don't see wheat listed after "modified food starch-wheat" etc., it doesn't have wheat...
  24. "Vinegar" as listed is safe. The ones you generally have to worry about is malt vinegar or certain flavored vinegars. By FDA law, "vinegar" is apple cider vinegar and is safe. Open Original Shared Link Further, Kraft is a company that will list any wheat/rye/barley/malt/oats (any gluten source) clearly. They won't hide it. If it were a bad vinegar...
