  1. Welcome back. I'm sorry the gluten challenge hit you so hard. Did you get tested after the challenge? If not, you might want to do it right away so you know if you are dealing with celiac disease or the more common non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS), which has almost all the same symptoms that a celiac has. Hope you feel well again soon.
  2. I agree, that doctor wasn't much help.Non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) never causes an elevated tTG IgG. That indicates antibodies to the endomysial lining of your gut and NCGS does not damage the intestine. It's a bit of a shame that she wouldn't test more. I'm glad that you have gone gluten-free and are seeing improvements already. With the positive...
  3. I think the disagreement is coming from the fact that you were not reacting to gluten in an egg (because as far as tests can find, gluten is not there) but to the egg itself. The chicken that made that egg was eating grains (with gluten in it) and that resulted in an egg that did not agree with you, but it is not because you were reacting to gluten. It is...
  4. That sort of wrecks peaches for me! Taking a bite out of a peach and licking off the juice seems just.... weird now! LOL
  5. I'm glad it has been thoroughly looked into. My cycles became shorter and more regular after I had been gluten-free for about 6 months. My periods also became shorter and lighter, which was a nice change. It sounds like gluten was an issue since things have changed for you. Good catch. Best wishes.
  6. Have you been to the doctor about the lactating? Galactorrhoea is not normal and can be caused by some really serious health issues. Hypothyroidism is one that would also affect your energy, skin and temperature. About 20% of people with galactorrhoea have a pituitary adenoma which is affecting their hormones , and can cause problems like cushings or acromegaly...
  7. Going gluten-free helped my plantar fasciitis a great deal, and I have to admit that that one improvement really surprised me! LOL Glad you feel better.
  8. It could be other food sensitivities too. Dairy, apples and pears give me sharp stomach pains similar to gluten. Sometimes coffee will do it too. A food and sympoms journal might help identifying another sensitivity if that is the cause. Best wishes.
  9. Ditto everything Laura said. She's spot on. You most likely have celiac disease with a test result 6 times the upper normal limit - that's quite high. Don't go gluten-free until you are sure you are done testing, As Laura said, they may want to to an endoscopic biopsy on you. Try to ensure 6 or even more samples are taken if you chose to have the procedure...
  10. Hi Robbo, Your results didn't show up. Can you type or paste them into your reply? Don't forget to include your reference ranges ad=s they can vary widely between labs. Welcome to the boards.
  11. Just remember that some celiacs are symptom free. No GI symptoms at all. My cousin was diagnosed based on cognitive problems and ADD. Also, some celiacs do not always get immediate symptoms. My symptoms tend to worsen over time, although I usually do feel a bit off when I eat gluten. It is possible that the excitement and adrenalin from travel helped...
  12. :) Congratulations!
  13. The rheumy can't explain my pains either... for decades they couldn't explain my stomach pains and hypothyroid-like symptoms either. LOL Good luck figuring it out. I hope you find some answers.
  14. I agree that a rheumy might be a good idea. Pains that move and shift to new spots for no apparent reason are not the usual aches and pains. I understand not seeing docs about it - I really dislike going to doctors... a lot. And some pains the doctors don't see because they move on. It might take a month or so for pain to really grow enough for me...
  15. My knees and hips crack with pain too. My knees are getting arthritic from playing too hard in my teens and twenties. I am pretty sure it is a soft tissue problem but I haven't seen a doctor about it yet because I don't want more knee surgery yet. My hips have started to lock, crack and cause me a fair bit of pain in the last year or so. I am guessing...
  16. Thyroiditis can mess with your stomach and can actually cause a weak positive result for the anti-tissue transglutaminase (tTG IgA and tTG IgG) which can cause intestinal problems. It is possible that your thyroid problem is affecting your health. That being said, there is a strong link between thyroiditis and celiac disease, so if you have a gluten intolerance...
  17. Have you cut dairy out of your diet? About 50% of celiacs are lactose intolerant at diagnosis because the villi which makes lactase, that digests the milk's lactose, is not there. Many celiacs regain the ability to consume milk after 6 months or so, but many benefit from some time away from it while healing. I personally had gluten-like stomach aches...
  18. You have a great grasp on all that. Thanks for the summary.
  19. Could you have a fracture? Maybe the itchiness is healing? This is just wild guess work on my part... Feel better.
  20. I've had costochondritis a few times. For me, it was a pain to the left of my sternum, near my collar bone, over my heart. It would hurt after sprints or for weeks on occasion, usually after an illness. It hurt more with deep breaths. The pain did not go to my side, and I wouldn't describe mine as itchy. Good luck finding answers.... It can be a frustrating...
  21. Huh. I wouldn't be surprised if I have this as it seems to describe my muscle twitches some what. I get twitches in some muscles, for no apparent reason, that last for half a minute to half an hour, and tend to disappear when I use the muscle. My most obvious one (to me) is in my lower eyelid of my right eye. I can see it jump and twitch like to picture...
