  1. I use Ivory Classic which is gluten-free and it doesn't bug my hands, I'm also very reactive to soaps, and it doesn't bug me. Smells nice too. Elonwy
  2. I don't like arrowhead mills flour, I find it bitter and gritty, though if you have been using it for a few years and been fine with it, you probably just got a bad batch. I've gotten a few gluten-free things off grocery shelves that have been sitting there a bit too long. Elonwy
  3. I bought my triumph dining cards a while ago, and at first was not entirely impressed ( the first place I showed it to said they didn't feel comfortable serving me and asked us to leave). I now think they are the best thing that has happened to me since I got diagnosed. I went to a Thai restaurant near my house that I love, I've been going there and just...

    ARCHIVED Sushi

Sushi is probably the easiest, though I have run into the rudest servers at sushi restaurants. All the sauces are suspect, and probably not ok. Japanese cuisine uses a lot of wheat based products. All Japanese noodles are off limits, and beware the miso. Some Wasabi is suspect, and they tend to get very offended when you ask about is thier wasabi real...
  5. Open Original Shared Link He's raising money for the Maryland CFCR, its really cool. Elonwy
  6. Totally OT OMG carriecraig the little kitten is so cute I could just die! <squeak> rub the little belly ( on the cat please) for me would you. love kittens Elonwy
  7. Are you on OSX? Thier mac product for OSX came out just in November, and I read on thier website that they are still working on it and getting it up to complete speed. I'm just excited it actually exists for Mac. I'm waiting until January when they come out with the Druglists for Mac too, so I can get em together. Elonwy
  8. So its travelling to see the family these holidays, and our new years stop is in Memphis with BF's dad and step-fam. I'm going to email her in the next few days, to get her prepared mentally for me being the one with the weird diet, and I was hoping that someone on here knew where some good health food stores in Memphis are where I could get gluten-free stuff...
  9. I know Hoods and Land o' Lakes are, but I don't have a store near me that carries either of those. My choices are ALta Dena ( local SoCAl Dairy, hard to get ahold of,) and Albertsons, which someone said was a "good" label company, but I haven't been able to confirm that. I wants me eggnog. Elonwy
  10. Buffalo is also astoundingly flavorful. Best burger I've ever had was buffalo meat. Elonwy
  11. Making your own is also pretty easy. You need philidelphia cream cheese and butter and powdered sugar. 1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened 4 cups powdered sugar ( this is slightly more than 1 box which is irritating, I just use one box but you may want a little extra to make it stiffer) BEAT cream...
  12. I have been laughing for the last ten minutes. That's brilliant. Elonwy
  13. I go for the added expense, and get ground steak. Best way is to pick out a steak and have them grind it for you, but sometimes I just grab the 100% sirloin grind. I won't eat regular ground beef anymore for a lot of reasons. Creeps me out. Elonwy

    ARCHIVED Picazzo's In Az

YAY! That would mean I don't have to make my friend in Az drive all the way to Cali with a pizza in his car. He was gonna do it next time he came out, but this would be so much easier. YAY! Elonwy
  15. According to my GI Splenda is contra-indicated for those with IBS like syptoms, and I avoid it now because I noticed that I would get severe intestinal cramping when I would eat it. When I was diagnosed with IBS before celiac disease one of the first things he said was don't eat Splenda. From the Delphi list: Ben & Jerry’s (Open Original Shared Link) ...
  16. Hmmm Butter. I'm ok with Dairy, I think I'll experiment during the free half hour I have this weekend. No seriously, I will try the broth thing, I'll let you knnow what happens. Elonwy
  17. Fiiiiine. I'll stop complaining and try the broth thing. I was just so excited that they had it and then to be let down like that kinda got me all bent. Thank you Tiffany Elonwy
  18. It was my birthday thursday, and work was awesome, a woman I work with's daughter was in San Fransisco, bought a gluten-free cake from a gluten-free bakery and DROVE IT DOWN TO LA PACKED IN ICE!!!! SO they surprised me with gluten-free cake that was.....amazing. It was some kind of flourless chocolate torte oooo I can't ever describe the numminess. So...
  19. I'm trying to get around making my own gravy for several reasons A) I don't have access to the turkey I work a fulltime and a parttime job and will already be cooking a pie and making stuffing then driving for 3 hours to go to where we're having dinner, so I was trying to find one thing that wasn't an enourmous PITA. Especially since its something ive...
  20. So if anyone has been following the gluten free gravy thread, I bought two packets of Pacific Natural Foods mushroom gravy which is listed on thier web site as gluten free, though not on the package, only to find that the second or third ingredient is wheat fibre. Naturally I flipped out, and both broncobux and I emailed them. This is the response: The...
  21. My blood tests were very positive as well, but my doc demanded a biopsy. I hadn't found this place yet, so I went ahead with it. It was horrible and there was "no gross evidence of sprue" which means he couldn't tell. The good part was, they foud some ulcers caused by my taking so much alleve for my pain for so long. So now I can't take alleve or advil...
  22. 1st thing, you'll have to go to a pet store, cause the regular grocery stores wont have it. I'm not 100% about dog food, but I switched my cats to Eukanuba and that seems to be going well. They seem to like it better too. Elonwy
  23. I got that from them too. The box doesn't have thier Gluten Free label on it though, like thier broths do. I'm horrendously suspicious. Elonwy
  24. My boyfriend got that once after eating ethiopian food (not sur if there was a relationship, but he won't eat it now), and he's not a celiac or anything else. No food allergies, nothing. He just got horrendously sick and it was all bacterial. They gave him fluids and antibiotics and let him go after a day. I think sometimes this just happens. Elonwy
  25. It's ok, it seems like their other ones are fine, but noone anywhere near me carrys them. I ordered some mayacama packets online, hopefully they'll be here in time. Theres no way imna be able to make gravy from scratch, especially since we're doing a turkey breast, so theres no giblets. I'm a good cook, but some stuff.....fftt. Elonwy
