  1. I just thought I was stupid and lazy. gotta love that logic huh? Elonwy
  2. My problem with the Delphi lists are that they aren't very portable ( the files too big for my palm and scrolling through giant docs on a tiny screen is horrible) and I haven't seen an updated version since last april, which makes me nervous. The Delphi lists do have tons of stuff, though, which makes them very useful. Open Original Shared Link They...
  3. I have it and I love it. So much easier than piles of paper or books. It doesn't have everything, obviously, but its so nice to be able to stand in the store and look something up to make a decision. I got the one with the updates, so I'll keep getting new info. I got the drugs and the Food. Elonwy
  4. I have thier smartlists on my PDA and its fantastic to have in the store with me. I got a pda just so I could have this. Elonwy
  5. MSG is monosodium glutamate, here is an article on it Open Original Shared Link The section about "it may cause reactions in certain people" is my favorite part. Many celiacs report problems with it. I personally get stomach aches and nightmares if I ingest it. Elonwy
  6. First of all, since it looks like you're not getting out of dinner, you have every right to be paranoid, and you're not an idiot. Please don't let the pressure of this holiday keep you from taking care of yourself and protecting yourself from gluten. He's trying really hard, but its ok if he fails, don't let the "well he tried" lead you to eat something you...
  7. They are a slow growth company because they are family owned and VERY particular about who gets thier franchise, which is awesome because it keeps the quality up. Also very religious, I am always tickled by the proverbs on the cups when I'm drinking a shake. I hope they keep expanding, because they rock, but I hope they stick to thier standards as well...
  8. They're gluten-free but they have MSG, which can bug people. Stuff's really not good for you at all. I know that MSG wreaks havoc with me, with or without Gluten. Elonwy
  9. Wow that totally made me cry, thats awesome. Thats a great gift. He sounds like a wonderful guy. YAY! Elonwy
  10. The problem with BK is they store thier Onion rings right next to the french fries in those Bins when they are finished, so there is spill over all the time. They also use the same scoop to scoop out the fries and the rings ( they aren't supposed to but it happens all the time). So the cross contamination is off the map there. Elonwy
  11. I had raccoon eyes all the time too. Mine took about a month to start fading. I've been gluten-free six months now, the fatigue is much better, my skin is much better. When I accidentally get gluten, it all comes roaring back though. I still have itchy, watery eyes, but its because I'm allergic to dust and pollen and smog. ( I was really hoping it was the...
  12. The layout of that website screams "NO" at me. It might be just that she's got no webmaster skills and little money, but it looks like a scam, it doesn't look real. Other than things like dining cards and thompson lists, this website has all I need, and for free. Elonwy
  13. THis ones a little more specific to us. Front page of Yahoo News. Open Original Shared Link Feb. 13, 2006, 2:13PM McDonald's: Fries Have Potential Allergens By DAVE CARPENTER AP Business Writer © 2006 The Associated Press CHICAGO — Not long after disclosing that its french fries contain more trans fat than thought, McDonald's Corp. said Monday th...

I don't think it would be a problem as long as its in your checked baggage and not carry-on. Some TSA guys might think you're weird, but tape a note to it, I'm sure they've seen weirder stuff. You are pretty much garunteed they're going to open your bags, but they've opened mine every time I've flown since the new rules went into effect, So I'm no longer...
  17. I said that wrong, you're right, but we do need *some* carbohydrates in our diet to maintain normal chemical balance in our brains. I'm rather sensetive to this, because I had a friend who went wayy overboard with Atkins, went fully Atkins, with NO carb reintroduction at all other than what is in high-protien foods, all she ate was meats and cheeses and Atkins...
  18. Make sure you're getting enough carbs, too. We need them carbohydrates to be happy. I know when I cut carbs out too far, I start to get crabby. I also get pissy and weird when I get glutened. That was one of the symptoms that led me to push to find out what was wrong with me. There is also a possibility that you're going through "gluten withdrawal". Its...
  19. I posted this, but it hasn't pinned yet, so I'm going to stick it in here. Elonwy For those in the Los Angeles area (Westside/Hollywood), esp those from our "mini" support group, I just found out about a massive CDF meeting in Marina Del Rey on the 26th of Feb. The invite list is like 63 people long. There will be food from gluten-free-friendly restaurants...
  20. Kinnikinnik and Tinkyada both state very clearly that thier products are made in dedicated facilities. Enjoy life doesn't allow any gluten or peanuts anywhere in their facility. So there are several companies where there isn't a chance it ever came in contact with gluten, barring the fedex guy rubbing bread all over your package. Obviously, this doesn't...
  21. Most if not all of the Classico Sauces are gluten-free. It's Heinz, so its a label reading scenario. I mostly make my own, but when I'm in that "I just worked all day I'll be d$@ned if I'm cooking dinner too" head space I like to have a bottle of this stuff around to use. Elonwy
  22. I personally choose to be ok with that, but its really on a case by case basis, and if something makes me sick, I tend to avoid all things from that company. I'm getting my 6 month follow up blood test on the 2nd of march, so we'll see how I'm doing with that To digress slightly, I was on the phone with a lovely gentleman from Morans Texas Hot Sauce...
  23. I talked about this with a GI specialist once. If your body doesn't want whatever you've ingested in it, it can take a mere twenty minutes to shove it out the other side. (thats a pleasant picture). We were discusing in particulat food poisoning or bad food, I was convinced at one point that all my episodes were being caused by "bad" food and that I was just...
  24. Whooooohoooooo! Jagerbombs are...not my cup of tea. I just like a shot of it every now and then. Grows hair on yer back. Elonwy
  25. I use firefox, and I had to clear cookies in preferences before it would let me see the updated page. Elonwy
