  1. WARNING!!! PAcific foods lists on thier web site that thier Mushroom gravy is gluten free and the second ingredient of the one I found is WHEAT FIBER. Made a special trip across town and everything. grrrrr. Elonwy
  2. LOL. Yup. I was blowing on my boyfriends stomach to make fart noises ( I was torturing him for information) and he piped up with "Boy I miss that sound from when we were first dating". I was a little gas machine. Belches, farts, you name it. Mostly gone now. I have a "normal" amount of gas these days. Elonwy
  3. Casien is a different issue, for people with milk/dairy allergies. No worrys for regular gluten-free folk. Elonwy
  4. Kraft rocks. Every other country gets a gluten free list except the US, because we sue over coffee being hot. They have a really good labeling system. If there is wheat in there it will say WHEAT. If it has barley in it it will say BARLEY. It will not hide behind anything else. I trust them more that alot of other manufacturors. If you go here: Open...
  5. Don't eat the turkey. Are you cooking this meal? Is other family coming over? Personally I say if he's not cooking it he can just deal, it's not like your food makes HIM sick, but I'm prone to putting my foot down and damning the consequences. Other option is what I'm doing with my bf's mom ( who's actually being awesome and cooking everything seperate...
  6. I got mine cause my doctor was just shy of ordering me to get it. The whole gluten thing makes us more sucseptible to germs, especially when we're still healing, and I work at a school, and around way too many people not to get it. It's my first time having it, I always figured I wasn't in a "risk group" but evidently I am now. My arm hurt a little bit...
  7. Sometimes it just takes a while for them to get it. I have one of the best boyfriends on the planet and it took him at least a month or two to really "get it". The initial shock is really hard for everyone, and he had a hard time dealing with me freaking out, and would say stuff like "well every now and then you can have some." He didn't know, I didn't know...
  8. I need a gluten-free gravy recipe. My bf's mom is being really cool, cause thats where we go for thanksgiving, she is cooking the turkey totally seperate, the mashed potatoe seperate, etc. I am bringing my own pumkin pie, making the crust with pamelas shortbread cookie crumbs, and I am making the polenta and sausage stuffing from the Gourmet Magazine issue...
  9. They weren't bad, but I found them wayy to sugary. But unlike most people, I don't really have that much of a sweet tooth, so it might be just me. My boyfriend ended up eating them all. Elonwy
  10. Was watching the news tonight and the makers of Ortho-Evra ( Bc patch) are telling women on it to go see thier doctors, because its releasing higher hormones levels than they thought and women have been dying of strokes and blood clots. Was always one of my concerns with that thing, I never did believe they could get that dosage right. Just wanted to bring...
  11. Amy's frozen gives me a stomach ache every time I eat it, I think they have cross-contamination issues, which has been discussed in other threads. The deboles stuff nearly ate my spoon, but I haven't tried the annies stuff yet, though I've been looking for it. Tinkyada and Velveeta is the bees knees. I made this for dinner for my boyfriend and I the other...
  12. I'm in the US, and most of the time they say gluten-free, but I saw one the other day that said wheat-gluten free instead of gluten free and it kind a freaked me out, cause I didn't know it meant gluten free or just wheat free. they're kinda weird, but oh so yummy for lunches. Elonwy
  13. I would definitely follow up with eyes and other things, its so hard to tell with kids, but I had constant headaches before I went gluten-free, I now I only have them when my sinus allergies kick in. Elonwy
  14. I made the Pamelas chocolate cake mix for a party and people didn't believe it was gluten-free. Elonwy
  15. Hear, Hear Nancy! I just want to add one thing. Your doc went to med school when? Consider the time in his/her busy day, seeing patients, filling out piles of insurance paperwork ( can be up to 40% of workload if its an HMO), playing golf. They have journals to read, conferences to go to, etc, etc. What falls between the cracks? Who yells louder, the disease...

  17. I bought ten of them, and I really like them. The adult size is a bit big, but it doesn't reach my elbow. Every Color has 4-5 things it represents now, green is also biodiesel and leukemia. I gave some to the students that work for me and one of them found out a friend of his has celiac, because he was wearing the bracelet. Mine hasn't left my wrist since...
  18. Its a little harder with corn tortillas than with flour, because of the size issues, but I love burritos. You need :(everything is pre-cooked) beans, rice ( meat if you want it) cheese, i like black olives, and a little sour cream and salsa. I recommend nuking the tortillas for 15-20 seconds otherwise they break very easily. Layer stuff up, start with...
  19. I put peanut butter on them ( I like the crunchy kind) and heat them in a microwave or pan. When the peanut butter gets melty, roll it up into a little taquito. Be careful, case the peanut butter gets hot, but its just decadent. For added oomph you can also throw in some chocolate chips. Who needs peanut butter sandwichs? Not me. Elonwy
  20. THIS is accurate: Open Original Shared Link Heres the whole site: Open Original Shared Link Bon Voyage. Elonwy
  21. I haven't checked these, but this is what Google came up with for me. Open Original Shared Link Elonwy
  22. The french cards in The Gluten Free Bible are not translated accuratly. I have not found replacements for those languages yet, but my friend, who is french, read it and couldn't understand what it said. He said it wasn't written in proper french and wasn't what the english card said. Just a warning. Elonwy
  23. If your gluten intake was really low, your test could come back negative. Heck sometimes it can be pretty high and still come back negative. Other people on here are a bit more informed on this subject though. In regards to symptoms, I had the panic attacks, the night sweats and tremors off and on. I had bouts where I wouldn't go to the bathroom for a...
  24. Your GI is wrong about celiac disease symptoms and background. They did the same crap to me. I had to lie about family history to get my blood test. I also pigged out on gluten ( knowing that I wouldn't be able to after, cause I knew it would come back positive) the two weeks before my blood test. Was sick as a dog the whole time, but got in everything I...
