Thank you, alamaz, and congratulations! I'm in a funk right now, but it will pass. It's just an emotional rollercoaster, as I'm sure you understand. Perhaps a monitor - or more close tracking will help us out as well. I appreciate the suggestion - 5 whole days! That's crazy. We think we know our bodies so well..........

Thank you!!! We will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary in 2 weeks! (10/28). It's a beautiful time of year for a wedding. Congratulations! I highly recommend a massage the week before your wedding. I was more relaxed than I thought possible!

DH and I are trying to start a family. It's only been a few months since we started, and I realize this is normal, but I really really thought we were pregnant this month. So disappointed. Sleeping patterns changed, eating habits changed, peeing all of the time, feeling tender, crazy hormones (breaking out) etc. etc. etc. Right on target, though...

On that note, Jules Thin Crust is opening a Newtown, PA store in mid-November, which will also serve their Gluten Free Pie. Newtown is a straight shot up 95 from Philly (approx 20-30 min. without traffic). (It's the 2nd PA exit if traveling South on 95 into PA from Jersey)

Isaac Newton's restaurant in Newtown, PA is now offering a British gluten free beer -- "Toleration". It's actually an H-name plus Toleration....Hamberton's Toleration? Something like that. It's new to their beer menu, and I want them to keep it - so come check it out! Anyway, it's an almost 17oz bottle of beer-y goodness.....It is a very nutty...

ARCHIVED Quick And Easy Recipes
amybeth replied to CtheCeliac's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
If you're talking quick and easy, I'm all about it. I buy hatfield ham slices, heat them in a skillet and top with crushed pineapple, when I want a quick meal. I also take pork chops and coat (lightly) w/ McCormick's Carribean Jerk Seasoning, then cook 8 min/side in a skillet of hot oil... I serve with "Latino Blend" frozen veggies (peppers, onion... -

ARCHIVED I Feel Like The Forrest Gump Of Chicken
amybeth replied to amberleigh's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You're right....the Lemon Butter Chicken is NOT the italian one .... The tang of the cranberry kind of offsets the pineapple and the cinnamon helps too. I actually eat it without much of the topping on top - the flavors get into the chicken in the baking. -
Mr. Ritts bakery is a gluten-free bakery Dietary Shoppe on Ridge Avenue carries many gluten-free items Sazon offers Venezuelan food and is very knowledgable about the diet. Chart house McCormick and Schmicks Old Tavern - (??? haven't tried yet, but have heard good things) Tangerine (and any other Steven Starr restaurant) is vey knowledgable (Jones...

Depends on your budget.... McCormick and Schmicks, Chart House (Delaware Ave), Ikea (their cafe has an awesome gluten-free torte) Tangerine (more $$$) on 2nd and Market is delish and good about catering to the diet - Successfully dined there 2x and have nothing negative to say. Little less expensive -- Sazon....venezuelan food. VERY knowledgable...

Last year - around Thanksgiving someone posted a Pumpkin Cheesecake type recipe that was made in cupcake tins.... It was like a mini pumpkin pie. I think I'm going to make them with Chocolate chip facial features, so they look like little Jack O' Lanterns. They were yummy! Try a search and see if it comes up....I'm not sure where I placed the...

ARCHIVED I Feel Like The Forrest Gump Of Chicken
amybeth replied to amberleigh's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Go to allrecipes.com and search for lemon butter chicken. SO GOOD! Double the sauce and have over rice for lunch the next day. YUM! A quick and wonderful chicken dish (25 min.): Buy Taste of Thai Spicy Peanut Bake. Coat tenders and bake. YUM! Sometimes we use two envelopes (or one whole package) to make it extra spicy. Chicken Breasts with a... -

Does he have any outside interests? A cooking class at a local culinary school - or with a local chef? A wine tasting class? A lot of vineyards offer them. Dance lessons at a local studio? A hardcover copy of a book you have really enjoyed with a letter explaining how important his kindnesses have been to you... A magazine subsription to Golf... -
ARCHIVED Top Chef/hgtv Design Star
amybeth replied to Green12's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
We are addicted to Top Chef - it's our Thursday night date - we make dinner and watch the tivo-d episode while we munch on the couch -- of course, our dinner always looks a little boring in comparison! Next episode is the "open your own restaurant" one -- super challenging and always fun to watch! -
ARCHIVED 40th Birthday!
amybeth replied to LoveBeingATwin's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I like to give things that people will not do for themselves...... A cooking class? A yoga class? A spa day? A maid service for one visit? All depends on resources ($$ and location) Another angle you could take is a theme - a gift (small or large) for each of the 5 senses....a gift for each season.....A gift for the "work" her, "home" her... -

The Edy's Ice Cream American Idol contest has ended....."Take the Cake" has won! Not only is this flavor Gluten Free, but it is terrific! And it is now going to be a permanent flavor. If you haven't tried it yet - go buy some! It tastes just like what I remember yellow cake to taste like! It reminds me of the confetti cake........ Enjoy! -

ARCHIVED Successful Royal Caribbean Cruise
amybeth replied to amybeth's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I was very careful at the buffet (Windjammer) and due to the language barrier had trouble finding some help. The scrambled eggs were fine, but they DID but bread in the bottom of the buffet pans for bacon and sausage to absorb the grease.........There was yogurt and fruit, though. I brought a lot of breakfasty items with me, so I didn't try much. ... -
Some of you know Jules Thin Crust in Doylestown (Bucks County PA) has a gluten-free pizza .(They also now sell their crust or dough, too) ... I may have already posted this, but I'm so excited! They are scheduled to open a new location in Newtown, PA in October! (Newtown in the 2nd exit in PA as you're traveling South on 95). AND they are making...

ARCHIVED Ideas For An 11 Year Old
amybeth replied to confusedks's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
A karate or self-defense class w/ lunch afterward would be fun. I did this one and we had a blast learning something new and "attacking" each other. Most martial arts schools will do this for small groups relatively cheaply. It's always neat to try something new. Do you want an "at home" party? or an event party at another location? You could... -
We just returned from our honeymoon to Alaska on Royal Caribbean....7 night cruise! Overall, I was able to eat and did not get sick - at all. I relied on the ship - didn't risk eating in port at any location. The main dining room was very helpful, and we opted to eat there every night. They brought me gluten-free bread each evening - I didn't even...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Road Trip
amybeth replied to nothungry's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
In PA on 95 South, you can take the Woodhaven Road Exit to Franklin Mills Mall and there is a Mexican Post (no gluten-free menu, but somewhat accommodating) and a Bugaboo Steak House (gluten-free menu available). I can give you other options in the Philly area, but it depends how far off the 95 corridor you want to travel...... -
Watermelon Dream Pie? Tell me more about it - the name itself sounds great!

We're going to have a couple of days/nights in Seattle on either end of our Alaskan cruise, and I am hoping to get some info..... We will not have a car, and I think we're staying somewhat close to Pike's Place Market - At Hotel Andra, if you're familiar with it..... I am gluten-free, my husband is not, although he is allergic to salmon and other oily...

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions! I ate out for lunch and dinner every day of the trip with NO CC problems or even hesitations. All of the restaurants in Chicago were so accommodating. We tried out: Lou Malanati's pizza - gluten free deep dish --- well, it's a sausage "crust" with cheese and sauce on top. Yummy, but very heavy. ...
