If you were diagnosed 24 years ago. You have Celiac. If your concern is to detect the amount of damage done, a endoscopy would be appropriate, with several biopsies. An upper GI won't detect Celiac, but perhaps some ulcers or blockage.

My colon and endo cost about $3,000. You could save that money and go with a strict gluten free diet and let your body heal itself.

    Just a thought...

This is the best support group that you can find. Everyone here on this site is wonderfully informative and the rule here is that there are no stupid questions. Everything that you could possible want/need to know is here.

    The recipe section is boundless.

Welcome and always feel free to ask away.

I think that you always to a wonder job. You are always to calm voice of reason. :)

We are a diverse group, which always makes it interesting. I can envision a three page debate on the color of the sky. But then, it's always "Carolina Blue" GO TARHEELS!!!

For the most part I think that everyone here conducts themselves in a respectful manner, with the exception of an occasional interloper. The Boards kindness and generosity far outweighs an occasional outburst.

  4. I make a marinade that is good for flank steak, beef tenderloins, pork tenderloin, chicken, tuna and salmon...

Sorry in advance, I don't measure

    Newmans Italian Dressing

    La Choy Soy Sauce

    Honey

    Ginger

    Minced Garlic

    McC's. Dried Onions

Merinade over night (the longer the better) and broil, pan fry or grill. Slice thinly and serve.

    Another favorite:

Scallops wrapped in Oscar Meyer Bacon with a dollop of Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce. Broil in the oven until the bacon looks crisp.....drop dead good, for dinner or appetizers.

  5. I've been wondering about deleted posts also. If a post does not get a response, is it then deleted? I've posted a couple of times about an IgG antibody test I had done, but it suddenly disappeared. Is it because no one responded?

    Just curious.

    Thanks

    Kathy

A post is deleted because it has violated the board rules. If a thread gets into arguement mode, Scott has the option of deleting the entire thread.

  6. Eating the pie filling and not the crust, to me is the same as eating gluten. You may have heard many here say that you just can't take the croutons off the salad - a new clean salad is a must.

I suspect that you step son glutened himself. I am sorry for for his distress. :(

Also, in addition the lactose is absorbed on the tips of the villi, if he had damage to his villi, he could very well be reacting to the lactose.

  7. Update from Celiac Central:

    March 14, Wednesday.....

Alice Bast, Executive Director of the National Federation for Celiac Awareness will be a guest on the "View", along with Dr. Peter Green, from the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University.

Gotta be a must watch. Yippy :D

  8. I have a question regarding a post I made today. I asked the question if anyone knew if Lame Advertisement were gluten free because a celiac friend of our asked me to inquire. When the post came up[ the words Lame Advertisement were replaced with "Lame Advertisement". Can you tell me why.. or what I did wrong? Thanks

I don't know quite how to answer that question. It has happened before. It may be a glitch in the programming here.

Give it another go and try rewording. You have a legitimate question. Sometimes the site sees certain words and changes them. Perhaps list the specific name of the product.

I understand your frustration, but give it another go.

    Sorry for the confusion.

  9. That is puzzleing. If the cornstarch has wheat in it, it is no longer corn starch.

Here is a thought. I work in a gourmet food/gift place and we sell some oriental items such as rice noodles. The translation to english is quite humorous. Perhaps in the translation, could "starch" be translated to "wheat"?

    Just a thought <_<
