ARCHIVED Zaycon Fresh Chicken
cyclinglady replied to ncsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I bet that Wayne's Chicken is just offering the standard legal CYA statement. They would not want to test their end product because it costs too much. They are a huge chicken processing company and follow USDA guide lines for health and safety. Yes, they are probably making chicken nuggets on a separate line. But the chicken they are cutting up probably... -
ARCHIVED I Need Help Deciding What Flours To Get To Make Gluten Free Bread
cyclinglady replied to glutenfreemomma188's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Eliza! I must point out that RYE contains gluten! This is dangerous for someone who has celiac disease or gluten intolerance. I noticed that in your previous post that you went gluten free in 2014 because you were starting to become a diabetic. As a diabetic myself, simply going gluten free will not prevent diabetes. Lowering carbohydrates is required... -
ARCHIVED Extremely low level of energy

Is your brand of thyroid replacement really gluten free? Confirm with the manufacturer and check their website or insert packet for the ingrediant list as formulations change. Seriously, you could have mono on top of everything. Just had a member who was diagnosed with it last month. There is a blod test to check. Here is a dumb idea, but I thought... -
ARCHIVED Extremely low level of energy
cyclinglady replied to Nelly's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would recommend going back to your doctor and get retested for celiac disease to confirm that you are diet compliant. When was the last time your thyroid was checked? Your prescription might need adjusting. Fever is not one of the 300 symptoms of celiac disease so it may be something else. Again, I think a doctor visit is in order. -
ARCHIVED Help, I'm in trouble - what labs are needed to dx?
cyclinglady replied to Tamara in Texas's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here are the tests: -Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA and (tTG) IgG-Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and (DGP) IgG-EMA IgA -total serum IgA and IgG (control test)-AGA IGA and AGA IgG - older and less reliable tests largely replace by the DGP tests-endoscopic biopsy - make sure at least 6 samples are taken (Source: NVSMOM -- ?) Here is the kicker..... -
To be safe, I would suggest following the diet. If you are interested in supplements, then I would advise consulting with a doctor.

ARCHIVED Bloods are fine but still feeling horrific!
cyclinglady replied to Jae's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It will pass. Really. You are just starting out. It can take some people weeks, months or years to feel well. I improved at about six months. At one year I was back on my bike riding. At two years I was feeling pretty normal (am old and have to take that into consideration ?). So, give it time and hang in there! -

I grilled chicken wings for lunch today too and served it with a nice green salad. The rest of the day was devoted to my FIL's birthday party. Served Tri-Tip and sausages, baked beans, green salad, jello, and potato salad. Then best was the lemon pound cake, pumpkin raisin cupcakes, and cheesecake. No one could tell that they were gluten-free! I am... -
ARCHIVED Seemingly intolerant to everything
cyclinglady replied to celiwhat's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hang in there! It takes most of us many months if not a few years to feel well. I felt so much better when I approached the one year mark and even better by year two. You just need more time to heal as it sonds like you have the gluten-free diet down. More hugs! -

ARCHIVED The big mistake: how long am I damaged for?
cyclinglady replied to jddh's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was glutened in July. Confirmed antibodies were elevated by GI. Took two months to feel better. Took three months to get dairy back. I suspect that you could say my intestines healed at three months based on my ability to digest dairy. The worse thing? I still do not have a clue as to what glutened me. There are two suspected products but I am not... -

ARCHIVED only symptom is iron deficiency anemia
cyclinglady replied to Capra's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yep, that was my only symptom when I went in for a routine colonoscopy. GI saw my low ferritin history (2) and ordered an endoscopy in addition to the colonoscopy, along with a complete celiac blood panel. Two months later, fractured two vertabrae doing nothing! There are over 300 symptoms of celiac disease. Check out the University of Chicago's celiac... -

ARCHIVED Zaycon Fresh Chicken
cyclinglady replied to ncsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
But, the website says that is is 100% natural with no additives. So, salt is not even added! I would say this is safe. Chicken is naturally gluten free. Meat, poultry, eggs all fall under the USDA (US DEPT OF AGRICULTURE) umbrella and not the FDA (which require labels and allergy identification and gluten-free is 20 parts per million), but I have rarely... -

cyclinglady replied to Jay4G's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Welcome! So nice that you are helping your girlfriend. Here is a biggie: you can gluten her by kissing her after a gulp of beer or by the remenents of your sandwich. Yep. Your toothbrush and gluten free toothpaste will be your new protection! Look it up, if you do not believe me! Also look at how bars rinse their glasses....glasses should be run through... -
ARCHIVED Help understanding results please :). Anyone else tested by life labs?
cyclinglady replied to Justine's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, the tests were for celiac disease. I do not know where you live, but in the USA you are the customer. By law, doctors are required to give you written copies if you ask. It is your RIGHT! You might need to go to your doctor's office in person to get your records. My hubby just did that at his old doctor's office so that he could give his files... -
ARCHIVED Lab help
cyclinglady replied to Lissa283's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ugh! How can your doctors rule out celiac when they don't run the same tests that they did the first time around? Have they forgotten the basics from their fifth grade science protect? They keep throwing in different variables! I tested positive on the DGP iga only when I was first diagnosed. I got glutened in July. I did not know what glutened me... -
I completely understand your fear of getting additional autoimmune disorders. But freaking out (anxiety) maybe contributing to the development of them. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, celiac disease, allergies, and diabetes (not typed). I guess I really don't want to know what kind of diabetes that I have. Eventually I will know, but I am dealing with...

Whoa! Slow down! A high CRP just means you have inflammation or infection anywhere in your body. You have a sore throat right? That might the cause of a high CRP. Active celiac disease is another contributor. Heck, my thyroid can cause a high CRP. I read that it can take up to three years to diagnosis Hughes Syndrome. Have you had clots? As far...
