ARCHIVED Celiac Type Forum For Dairy Intolerance?
cyclinglady replied to heliosue's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
That sounds great! I was going to write back that adding dairy back into your diet is not worth getting migranes. Keep us posted on how the histamine diet works. -
ARCHIVED New to becoming gluten free
cyclinglady replied to Bethanylynn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think a trip to a GI doctor would be wise. Are you sure you are gluten free (hidden gluten cross contamination)? How often do you eat out? Read our Newbie 101 section for great tips. Welcome to the forum! -

ARCHIVED Top tips for celiac travel
cyclinglady replied to Ashley875's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Take a collapsible cooler filled with perishable food to take on the airplane and to use while at your destination. Fill a freezer zip-lock bag with ice. Empty prior to going through security and once through security ask a restaurant to refill. I pack lunch meat, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, little yogurts, veggies and fruit, etc. I pack apples, nuts, jerkey... -
ARCHIVED What's wrong with me?):
cyclinglady replied to Maddi's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
People with celiac disease often have food intolerances due to intestinal damage. I know you are not officially diagnosed, but you are attempting the gluten-free diet. Like the rest of us, you are discovering that you have developed intolerances or allergies along the way. The most common is lactose, but corn and soy are other top offenders. Eat plenty... -

Going to the library and getting a few celiac disease books might help educate your husband . Even watching a few You Tube videos might help your him. Education is your best defense. I think your husband is afraid to be sedated. It is scary decision to make for a small child. Heck, my husband doesn't want our dog to be sedated for her annual teeth... -
ARCHIVED Bone Density Results: 2 good, 1 bad.
cyclinglady replied to Opa3's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Opa, I am am not a bone expert. My recent (8/2015) scan result indicated that I am holding my own. No big changes. You would think I would have improved, but I did not. I chose to get calcium from my foods, took some supplements, took Hormone Replacement Therapy (bones and to treat menopausal symptoms) and exercised (run, walk, swim, bike). Perhaps...- 6 replies

Welcome, Onepercenter! That sponge in the dishwasher? Kills germs but it does not remove gluten. Best to keep separate sponges. -
ARCHIVED Finding a Doctor
cyclinglady replied to Vasiliki's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Enjoy your wedding and avoid gluten for the next two weeks as if it were rat poisoning! Do not accept that the Derm knows how to biopsy just because he says he can do it. Ask him to explain the process to see if he/she really knows what they are doing. Ask if they have celiac patients. Finally, listen to your gut instinct. I would still get the blood... -
ARCHIVED Finding a Doctor
cyclinglady replied to Vasiliki's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the forum! You are in a tough spot! My advice is to do whatever it takes to comfortably get you through your wedding and then worry about getting tested. You need to do some serious research about finding a dermatologist who can PROPERLY take a biopsy for DH. Browse through our forum's DH section and you'll get the general idea. This is important... -

The low hemoglobin and the low iron is often a sign for celiac disease. That fit my profile and is what tipped off my doctor. I was shocked. I had no typical celiac symptoms just the low hemoglobin and low iron. Turns out I had more issues. Keep us posted and ask any questions. We are here to help! Oh, be sure to get and keep all copies of his lab... -

ARCHIVED Trip to Clearwater Florida
cyclinglady replied to Courtradmall's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Try the "Find Me Gluten Free" website and search for Clearwater. Look for reviews from celiacs. Plan on bringing or purchasing a cooler and hit the grocery stores for cheese, lunch meat, fruit, veggies and other foods to carry with you in case you can not find a restaurant. Just be prepared and have fun! -
ARCHIVED Beer Belly-is it also gluten belly?
cyclinglady replied to BarryC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Barry, You have been on this site for over a year and yet you still knowingly consume gluten. I urge you to get tested for celiac disease to determine if you really need to be on a gluten free diet. So many of your posts concern your inability to lose weight. A gluten free diet is not the ticket for weight loss. You also said last year that your doctor... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Type Forum For Dairy Intolerance?

Yes! I was diagnosed by an allergist (M.D.) years ago as having nut and milk allergies. Same for my siblings too. We get asthma, eczema, tummy issues, nose congestion, itchy eyes, but nothing serious. Some of the grandkids have the same allergies and they carry epi pens (never offered to us). I drank soymilk for years! When I got my celiac disease... -

Soon, you'll be able to add so many foods back in! After my recently glutening, it took two months to heal. I could not digest raw veggies either! I consumed a lot of fish and stewed meat and well-cooked veggies. Boring, but easy to digest! -

ARCHIVED Question about possibly being glutened
cyclinglady replied to MNMAC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am not a doctor, but I bet you were glutened! I hope you recover faster than I did after my last glutening. It has taken me over two months to feel better. I became lactose intolerant again -- even eating anything was causing pain! I saw my GI and he confirmed that my celiac antibodies were high (higher than when I was diagnosed). Easy easy-to-digest... -
ARCHIVED Help with test results
cyclinglady replied to Rebekah3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! I just want to add that all your first-degree relatives should be tested for celiac disease too. It is genetic and you can be asymptomatic. Celiac disease can be activated at any age! I wish you well! -
ARCHIVED Beer Belly-is it also gluten belly?
cyclinglady replied to BarryC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Barry, Not to offend you, but this is a celiac website! We NEVER endorse eating gluten in any form. Some of us are formally diagnosed and others are not. But what we have in common is that we know gluten makes us sick. It is an ALL or NOTHING commitment. Yes, gluten can cause bloating but so can broccoli or beans. I have seen plenty of overweight people... -
ARCHIVED Cross Contamination even though it's marked "Certified gluten-free"?
cyclinglady replied to GiGi29's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have eaten these little chia seed bars on some of my bike rides and I did not get glutened. I can say that when I was first diagnosed, I thought I was getting glutened from certified gluten-free foods like bread. Turns out I had and still have an issue with Xanthan Gum. Go figure! It never bothers my husband and he's been gluten-free for 14 years. I... -

I had the same issue as Squimingitch. A 406 error. Was not able to get on to the forum site for the past 24 hours (or less). Got on through Facebook a few minutes ago. Using Explorer now on a laptop as Chrome did not work. Also tried my ipad using Safari. So strange! Will attempt to re-log in under chrome. I do not think it was a virus. Who knows... -
