ARCHIVED Anxiety Issues
cyclinglady replied to Jenster70's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Most folks here take 1 to 3 years to heal from symptoms that include anxiety. I think three months of being gluten-free is too soon. Odds are you are still learning about hidden sources of gluten and cross contamination. Each time you get "glutened" it can set you back a few weeks! Can the doctor officially diagnosis her based on her diet and her... -

ARCHIVED Need A Soy And Gluten Free Ibuprofin
cyclinglady replied to John Burlingame's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Maybe a compounding pharmacy can help? -
No, gluten does not attack your thyroid. Thyroiditis is another autoimmune disorder like celiac disease. You can have one or both. You can many autoimmune disorders. Everyone is different. Celiac disease has many symptoms, but not all get the same symptoms. The same goes for thyroid disease. I ran hypo but never had hair loss or gained weight. ...

ARCHIVED Low Gluten Meal (Really?)
cyclinglady replied to Pauliewog's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Just take your own food. Usually, they screw up even though you order it! If you are lucky you will get some prepackaged stuff that has labels that can supplement your supply. -
ARCHIVED Is Low Back Pain Normal When Having An Attack?
cyclinglady replied to Sbwife14's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Patience! It takes time to heal! I know you feel bad. I felt a bit better by six weeks to notice a difference. It has been a year and a half and I finally starting to feel really good. Hang in there! -
ARCHIVED What's In Your Kitchen Kit?
cyclinglady replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Cast iron can harbor gluten too, but the good news is that they can be de-glutenized unlike non-stick coated pans). Just use dedicated pans for gluten-free eaters for either of these two types. -
ARCHIVED How Did You Heal Your Gut? Besides Giving Up Gluten...
cyclinglady replied to icelandgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would not necessarily give up all grains, but when I went gluten-free, I found that not all alternative grains did not agree with me. You know some thing are just hard to digest with a damaged gut. But that may not be the case for you. Keep eating rice, but like everything else, eat in moderation. I have had Hashi's for almost 20 years. I was stable... -
ARCHIVED How Did You Heal Your Gut? Besides Giving Up Gluten...
cyclinglady replied to icelandgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am diabetic (dx after my celiac disease dx), so I eat to my meter (meaning I try to keep my blood glucose stable). I found that before I went on my Low Carb High Fat diet, I was having trouble with alternative grains like quinoa. So, now I eat normal portions of protein, eat fat (had some avocado and salmon for breakfast, along with zucchini) and get... -
ARCHIVED Is Low Back Pain Normal When Having An Attack?
cyclinglady replied to Sbwife14's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Make sure you are completely gluten free (cross contamination) including all medications, lipstick etc. Patience is the next step. Think about removing all dairy from your diet cause damage villi often can not release the enzymes need to digest lactose (milk sugar). Short term fix? Heating pad for your back? Keep a food journal to help determine... -
ARCHIVED How Did You Heal Your Gut? Besides Giving Up Gluten...
cyclinglady replied to icelandgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Looking back, I would wish I would have gone completely grain free and stuck to whole foods (not processed). I think my healing would have occurred at a much faster rate. -
ARCHIVED Joint Pain (New To Me)
cyclinglady replied to whtswrongwithme32's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, people with celiac disease can develop RA, diabetes type 1, lupus, thyroiditis, etc. since there is strong evidence that when you get one autoimmune disorder, you can get more! But joint pain can resolve on a gluten-free diet for many. For others they may be tested for RA if symptoms do not resolve with a gluten free diet (celiac disease healing). -
ARCHIVED Strange Question But I'm Curious...
cyclinglady replied to Sbwife14's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have the same issues. I am thin, but you can see the difference (just me). No worries. It is probably related to inflammation. Mine has improved greatly. I see you did not get good medical support and did not get a proper diagnosis. I would suggest you read the newbie thread and learn about cross contamination. https://www.celiac.com/forums... -
ARCHIVED Tell Me About The Koolatron Cooler
cyclinglady replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
We normally plug in the RV refrigerator 24 hours ahead of time before storing food. But to cool it down faster ('cause I forgot to plug it in), I fill the frig up with 1/2 gallon frozen jugs that previously held milk. I use a thermometer to check the frig temp. Then take out the jugs and fill the frig with food. I keep the jugs in my big freezer in the... -
ARCHIVED What Are The Safest Gums(Used In Breads) To Look For?
cyclinglady replied to 3bears2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Everyone is different. Some, like my hubby have no issues at all (but then he has been gluten-free for 13 years) and I can not tolerate Xanthan gum. So I bake with guar gum. -
ARCHIVED L-Glutamine - Does It Work To Repair Your Gut?
cyclinglady replied to zeeclass6's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yikes! You have been a member since 2004. Do you have celiac disease? Why would you take this supplement now? How long have you been taking it? Have other things been ruled out like gallbladder disease? -
ARCHIVED Many New Food Allergies At Once?

Have you read the threads on Mast Cell Activation Syndrome? It is a thought........ -
Have you been tested for celiac disease? What makes you think you have it (before going gluten free)? Have you had you gallbladder tested ( HIDA scan)? Are your other autoimmune disorders under control? Not to be nosy, but more background information would help. I hope others on the forum can direct you to a GI who has a strong background in celiac...

ARCHIVED New To The Forum, And I Have Some Questions
cyclinglady replied to AaronM761138's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! Here is a link to the University of Chicago's Celiac website. It explains the tests needed and some 300 symptoms. Constipation is one of them, along with GERD. Open Original Shared Link I happen to be the first in my family to be diagnosed and my symptom was anemia, although most of them have some identified autoimmune disorder like R... -
ARCHIVED Hormones, Hashi's And Celiac- How Does This All Work Together?
cyclinglady replied to icelandgirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I will chime in here (beats sending out Girl Scout permissions slips) and add that I would not worry about the nodule. I have had the same one for 20 years. No changes in size. I have been on Armour Thyroid that long and the dosage has varied over the years as my thyroid continues to malfunction. Since going through menopause and going gluten free...- 144 replies

I think you need time! Lots of it! I did not feel good until I had been gluten-free for 9 months. I am back to my old exercise routine and I am now back to cranking at work and my volunteer work and family life, but I still have off days. I know that I just do not have celiac disease. I have Hashi's, diabetes, allergies and food intolerances that I have...
