  1. Hi Judy: I hope this finds you feeling better. Does anyone know what to do about these huge like boils I keep getting on my face? The doctor said something about a staph infection and gave me a topical cream to put in my nose? She said that is where it comes from. The prescription is MUPIROCIN and states do not get near your nose, eyes or mouth so I...
  2. If it helps at all, I quit smoking almost 4 months ago. Just to be honest for the most part it has been awful, but I am making it day by day. The thing I would worry about smoking pot is that it would make me hungry and I would want to eat junk food none of which I can have so what would be the use? I think you just have to do what works for you. I am...
  3. My understanding is that it does contain gluten. I used to use the dry soup mix in my clam chowder, but then I heard the dry mix contained gluten.
  4. Almost 3 years before I started feeling really good. Hang in there!
  5. Just to add to that I believe with better awareness more people will be diagnosed with the disease. I was diagnosed about 3 years ago, my mom and brother just recently
  6. I hadn't heard prior to watching the show that it was going to ba about celiac. I am just glad that someone made the effort to do a show about celiac. While we may not all agree on the way it was portrayed I am just glad that they spoke about it at all. I think they took the worse case and focused on that. But, as we all know people have died from complications...
  7. Just watching it, it has to do with a mom and baby that have celiac and the complications that can occur. It was actually quite sad, but it's on tonight.
  8. If it helps you at all I took clomid for my first 2 pregnancies. The first time for 2 1/2 years and the second time just once. The third time I got pregnant all on my own. It was so worth it, just hang in there!
  9. Welcome Lynda: For me gluten free also means oat free as I have gotten quite sick eating oats. If your test comes back positive I would stay away from the oats. I am not sure on the rice. It can be very overwhelming, just take it slow and be sure to read labes carefully. If you do not have celiac and are allergic to rice and wheat those are fairly easy...
  10. Hi Lisa: Are you feeling any better? It took me about 3 years to really feel better and only after taking a dose of steriods for something else. Can you go to a different doctor? Sometimes because we are women they don't take us serious, or chalk everything up to depression/stress. It is quite frustrating, let me know if I can help. I think they can...
  11. I thought that's what I heard, wow thanks for finding the transcript. I wish he had asked about the celiac, but I think it's a good thing that it was mentioned.
  12. Jen: That was so sweet of you to say. Please know that each day week or month you will get better. What helped me initally, and it's taken me 3 years to feel good, is that I finally had an answer so I was able to work with something and not continue to think I was crazy
  13. Hey Patti: Can you listen to it one more time. If I heard it right she said it at the same time she said something about many people surviving different things and I am just sure she mentioned celiac. If not maybe I am finally losing it!
  14. Did anybody else hear this?
  15. I am sorry to hear what all you are going through. It seems like yesterday and sometimes a lifetime ago that I felt that way. When it is bad, like tonight I just log onto this site and tell myself never give in, never give up. I look to all of you for inspiration and it always seems to be there. I am grateful for all of you (
  16. Just tuned in Larry King Live and a woman named Deborah Scaling Kiley on her lead in was talking about people and survival and she actually mentioned people who survive celiac disease. I wish he had asked about it, but was shocked to hear it mentioned.
  17. Wow, thanks for that information. I used the Jergens last year and really liked it. I still forget sometimes to check the labels on things that I don't ingest. Thanks for the reminder
  18. I don't know why it would make you throw up. SOmething in it your body does not like. I kind of question the whole butter at the movie theatre because when they spoon it on it looks more like an oil than butter, at least the kind I use. I have just always wondered how much of it was actually butter?
  19. I can't even remember how I found this board, but I have been so thankful many times. There are so many of you that have helped me through many trials and errors, items to check etc. And many of you that have made me laugh. I think initally KaitiUSA and celiac3270 held me up through the very worst of it, but many thanks to all
  20. As far as I can tell she has not answered that question. She has mentioned she does not eat gluten but does not say why. She hasen't responded to any emails either, so maybe we will just have to wait and see if she ever tells. It would be nice if she did, then we could have someone speak out about it. I know many of us emailed Oprah last year trying to...
  21. I heard her mention that today also. I googled her and gluten but could only find mention of her saying she doesn't eat gluten. Then I read she has said she has an allergy to wheat and that she may of said this for insurance purposes, if she said she has a disease instead of an allergy it would be harder to insure her? That led me to a board about someone...
  22. I don't know if there is a connection. I have both so I will be interested to see what other people have to say.
  23. I think it is just that many of us have gotten so frustrated with doctors and then along comes someone that is looking to us for support who happens to mention that he is a doctor and then many took out their anger/frustration on him. I am a social worker and have had many experiences where someone lost their kids or felt they were treated unfairly and found...
  24. Hi Laura: Let me say that I have been where you are. It took me about 3 years to heal. Gluten is in so many things, make-up, medications, lotions etc. Be really careful with what is going in and on your body. Just hang in there and we are here for you..
  25. Hi everyone: I haven't been on in a while and first saw these posts and was somewhat surprised to see so much anger directed at another person coming to us for help. Glad to see you worked it all out!
