  1. Same here. I love garlic and mosquitoes love me.
  2. I've had that one before and it is quite good, almost like real bread. We don't have a bakery like that in Edmonton. Kinnikinnick breads are not at all like real bread in my opinion. But their bagels are awesome.
  3. Thanks for posting that article. You know, it is just one study, but it could explain why some of us still have symptoms every so often even though we are 100% gluten-free.
  4. That's how my dad always opened them when we were little. What a good idea for a bird house. Yes you can.
  5. I get the dumping syndrome first thing in the morning and sometimes it takes well over an hour to get it all out. And I can't leave the house until I'm done. I know what you are going through, I start my new job in May and I don't know that I'll be on time because of the bm's. Sometimes I take Immodium, even tough I don't get D, just loose bm's, but at...
  6. I reacted about 10 hours after glutening, first with D, nausea, vomiting, and brain fog over many many more hours.
  7. Costco has some raw nuts and the allergen statement is safe. You just have to read the allergen statements because some brands are safe and some are not.
  8. I prefer the nail and hammer method. LOL
  9. Can you try those Purely Vanilla bars for me? Just kidding, I'll try them myself and the Skittles. I am so excited about these new snacks.
  10. I'm always worried too for the first day too. Thatnks for being the guinea pig, I'm going to go buy some now.
  11. I have done this too, more than once, oops.
  12. Personally, if it says made in the same facility as milk products, I'll still eat it. But, if it says made in the same facility as gluten products, I won't touch it. I don't know if it's the right thing to do.
  13. It is just a pot that sits on another pot (saucepan whatever). The top pot has your chocolate and butter and the bottom pot has water. It is used so that you don't burn the chocolate. You can just set a metal bowl over a pot of water on your stove. But if you are good with heat, some people just stir and remove the pot from the heat element and put it...
  14. Tiffany pretty much explained what I feel about being a vegetarian. I try to make my voice heard as a consumer too. I don't eat much meat, mostly fish lately. If I do buy meat, it's usually organic, when I can budget for it. Since I don't eat beef, I don't use gelatin and so on. But the problem is that I wear cow leather boots for work. So, call me...

    ARCHIVED New Job

    That's a great idea. Thanks.
  16. Wow I had no idea I could eat Skittles.
  17. I used to get those noises all the time before I went gluten-free. Also, dairy caused noises too for me.

    ARCHIVED New Job

That is exactly what I told my new boss. She knew what celiac was and was completely understanding with me wanting to provide my own meals. She even looked into finding me a room with a kitchenette. And I totally emphasized that it would not affect my work, that I am used to being very prepared. I got glutened Thursday night and now I am desperately...
  19. I use Baker's (Kraft) unsweetened chocolate squares, and I sweeten as needed.
  20. Wow, I was feeling just like you. I had all the same questions until Tursday night. I unknowingly got glutened and I have been feeling the effects ever since. There was no dairy. So, I guess I got my answer, I hope you get yours too. I too would have done Enterolab, but not in my budget.
  21. Man, I just got glutened Thursday night for the first time since being gluten-free and I was so sick yesterday. Now th brain fog and stomach pains are bad. The worst part is I have to study for my final exams.

    ARCHIVED New Job

Thanks Linda for the info. It is a good sign janm, but I'm just a chickens**t when it comes to having a new job. I know I'll be fine once I start, it's just nerves.
  23. I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat meat often. My new sandwiches are corn tortillas with either homemade hummus or guacamole as the filling. Yummy.
  24. It's too bad, Food For Life is not for sale in my province. Maybe one day I can enjoy them too.
  25. Basically, most hard cheeses do not contain lactose. So you can eliminate all dairy until you feel good, about a week. Then try some hard cheese, if you react it is most likely casein intolerance. If you do not react than it could be lactose intolerance. You would test that by introducing one more dairy item at a time.
