  1. Shelley, Welcome to the board. I vote for Tinkyada too! You need to pay attention to how long you cook it - taste test often . Also, your old colander has all kinds of gluten stuck in the little holes, no matter how well you wash it - you may want to get a new one. Cindy
  2. Jerry - Happy birthday to yoooooooo! Cindy
  3. Lisa - Continued prayers for Hazel's health and for support for both of you during this time of need. Cindy
  4. I've watched the workers at Arby's. They do wear gloves, but do not change them between making orders. They will touch the beef and put it on a roll and then go right to making the next order. So if you just get the meat, it will be cross-contaminated from the previous order's roll. It also means that the whole stack of beef is contaminated from the gloves...
  5. I like Annika Marie Guhl (because a part of you will always be with her). Cindy
  6. Thak you Guhlia and Jerseyangel. That fixed it. I don't know what I did to make it change in the first place. I must have hit a key by mistake, then I didn't know where to look for the options button when Guhlia suggested it (like it's not big enough). Cindy
  7. Under my post there is a section called posts in this topic. This section contains the name of the person replying and the subject of their reply, then you have to click on each individual reply to open it. I could not find anything in my options to change this. Cindy
  8. I really do not like the new format. Kevsmom@qis.net
  9. Hey Jerry - Would you prefer to be off having fun and chasing your nieces or sitting on the pot? Cindy
  10. Jerry - Welcome back to our real world Cindy
  11. When I was first diagnosed, I had bruising all over my body. I was seeing a hematologist because of anemia. He also ran some other blood tests, and they showed that I was not absorbing Vitamin K (which causes clotting). This was causing the bruising. You may want to ask your doctor - maybe it's vitamin K that you need. Cindy
  12. The Support Group that I go to got samples of Heartland's Finest CerOs. They come in Regular, Cinnamon and Raspberry flavor, and they taste like Cherios. They are made with Pinto Beans and Rice Flour, only have 5g of sugar and are fat free. I haven't been able to find them in a store. Their Website is www.heartlandsfinest.com/cereal.shtml Cindy
  13. Ryan - You are trying so hard to take care of Alex. She is so lucky to have you. Before I was first diagnosed with Celiac, I also was having rectal bleeding, as well as bruises all over my body for no reason. The Hematologist that I went to could not figure out what was wrong with me. He said the only thing he could come up with, was that "Maybe I was...
  14. Hi Lyn - Welcome - According to glutenfreedrugs.com all forms of Prevacid are gluten free. You probably should contact the manufacturer to make sure that there have been no changes. Cindy
  15. Hi Ed, I'm from Westminster. I have been in touch with Carroll Hospital Center several times asking them to form a support group. The first two times they told me "We don't need anything like that in Carroll County". The last time that I spoke to them, they said that they would consider it, but it would take a long time to set up, if they were going to...
  16. Welcome! Don't forget to check any medications that you might be taking...including vitamins. After I was diagnosed, I finished my bottle of vitamins an went to buy another (The same brand) only to find out that right on the label is said "contains gluten". For your prescription medications you can check glutenfreedrugs.com to see if your's are on...
  17. Hi! Welcome to the board. I have an aunt and uncle in Mercer County that we visit every year. Last year my uncle took me to a Farmer's Market that had a store that sold exclusively gluten free food. The owner's wife is gluten free, and he opened it for her. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of it. We also went to Wegeman's to shop. Their gluten...
  18. I am a Diabetic with Celiac, who was just in the hospital for dehydration due to nausea. My dr. prescribed Reglan, and it did help. I don't know if he prescribed it because I am a diabetic, or if he would have prescribed it anyway - just to ease the nausea. Cindy
  19. Hmmm...Red Hammer Cindy
  20. Ryan, Two weeks ago I was hospitalized for dehydration. I also was on antibiotics, for a sinus infection. I was having nausea and vomitting, and did not feel like eating or drinking a thing. I lived for several days on applesauce and apple juice, and the only reason I forced that on myself is that I am Diabetic and needed to keep my blood sugar in the...
  21. Be careful at Wendy's. The one near me is set up so that I can watch the people preparing the food. I usually get a plain jr. cheeseburger because the gloves they would use for lettuce and tomatoes also handles the rolls. I also get a baked potato. They serve the potato wrapped in foil, but cut it open with a knife that has touched who knows what? I...

I hope you are feeling better soon. Kevsmom
  23. My dog (not in the picture) is not on a gluten free diet. I just wanted to remind those who have Celiac Disease or gluten allergies to make sure that they wash their hands after they feed their pets. It goes without saying "Don't use the contaminated food".
  24. I was diagnosed with Celiac 2 years ago. My brother has had it for several years. When I asked him what kind of symptoms he was having that made him go to the doctor, he said "I had stinky gas". I thought to myself - don't all guys have stinky gas?
  25. Welcome! I have learned so much from everyone here. All you have to do is ask. We have all been through it. It will get easier to learn what to look for when reading the ingredients. I agree that Yoplait is generally O.K. (With the exception of the ones with the cookies and crumbs).
