  1. FYI the frozen blueberry pancakes are being recalled because they are labeled dairy free and they contain milk. No risk if your only concern is gluten. https://news.google.com/news/more?ncl=dtPy9L13QeKksKMc8XAS6VO3JvK2M&authuser=0&ned=us&topic=m (taken from our article section)
  2. I had a DEXA scan ordered by my rheumatologist in December because of my lupus + celiac + long term steroid use. I think the imaging place did a pre approval on it, so you can ask the facility they send you to if they do pre-approvals first to prevent any trouble.
  3. Before I was DX I was a bread lover, and at certain places that had fresh baked bread I would fill up on that, take most of my dinner home, and not get an appetizer or desert. So they lost money on me! (I miss those places sometimes but less and less as I recreate things gluten-free in my kitchen!)
  4. Less places to put bread on your table after you have told them you are a celiac! Smart business decision for higher end and non traditional places.
  5. I have tried the betty crocker yellow cake mix and the devils food cake mix. Liked them both. Haven't tried any others, I try to avoid making cake because I eat it all at once... haha!
  6. Ah yes, I forgot to mention coconut oil! I felt like I forgot something. I use coconut oil on scaly patches on my face before they get bad. It really thins out once it gets on your warm skin, so it is a nice light moisturizer. And smells lovely.
  7. Usually when I see a positive result mentioned it is a more modest number like yours, although I have seen some that were very high, 100+. However, like Karen said, it does not indicate how likely you may be to have Celiac, a positive is a positive no matter where it is on the scale, and you need to go ahead and have an endoscopy done for proper screening...
  8. An elderly lady that lives next to a bakery got her house covered in flour when a pipe burst. All I could think of while reading it is THAT would be my worst nightmare, just burn the house down, please! Open Original Shared Link
  9. Awww, it is so nice to know they save the ducklings-to-be instead of mowing them over. Duck eggs are good eatin', but only when you intend to, lol.
  10. I get a new eczema patch somewhere on my body every year, and my hands will start to develop it if I let them get too dry. In my teenage years before I learned to get it under control, I would have cracked bloody hands all winter. I, too, try to not use steroid creams too much. I am very proactive about using moisturizer on any scaly/dry places, and the...
  11. We ate at a restaurant around here and one of us had "squashta" and it inspired me to want to get one of these! Have to talk my husband into eating zuchinni, though!
  12. Has anyone been able to get information about the types of facilities and equipment these are processed on? I looked on their facebook page a few days back and there were a ton of people posting on there that they called corporate asking these questions and got nowhere. To me, the cheap price point is suspiciously low, and the few good tries I have given...
  13. Welcome! Feel free to read through all the content already on here and ask any questions you may have
  14. I just first read this thread and was about to post to tell them to speak to their lawyer before posting any more. Hopefully they at least got the feedback from the replies, I wish them the best.
  15. Yep, with it being easy to clean, once you are used to it it will be fine. I would buy a cheaper, dedicated knife for it that you can easily replace since they can dull nice knives. And watch out for slippery stuff!
  16. I'm back after a couple day hiatus after my IVIG this month gave me the usual light sensitive headache. It goes away faster if I stay off the computer. I'm finally able to go off prednisone after a year of being on it... was at 5mg daily, now down to 4, after 4 weeks will go down to 2, then see the Rheumatologist again. I can't lose weight while on it...
  17. It is listed as gluten-free on Open Original Shared Link, so you can call the company to double check, but if you were told not to take aspirin and took it, that is certainly going to cause you GI discomfort, and could potentially lead to a dangerous GI bleed. Sometimes people can tolerate a dose or two as long as it is not long term, but now you know that...
  18. Welcome to the forum! Many of us had long crappy roads to diagnosis and are very happy with the fact that we have answers now. It takes time to heal up after going gluten-free, but stay strict with it and over time you will notice some changes. I think you got lucky only having been gluten-free for two weeks, that wasn't enough time for your small intestines...
  19. If you have insurance and want them to cover your visits, usually on the back of your health insurance card there will be a number for mental health claims. Call them and get a list of providers in your area to start from. Then, decide whether you need a therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist. A psychiatrist prescribes medication and is an actual doctor...
  20. A huge amount of people react to things in body care products such as deodorant, and that is not celiac related. People with Celiac do not react to gluten in body products- that would be a seperate allergy and is extremely rare. Generally, Celiacs avoid gluten in products that could get in their mouth only. Hopefully you have seen a doctor and...
  21. I keep my oats in the freezer to avoid them getting stale since it takes me a while to go through the big bag. I will also put individual servings of oatmeal in the freezer to easily heat up if I know I am not going to want to cook in upcoming days. There are other places to get certified gluten-free oats, but the key is they will say certified gluten free...
  22. Last night I made an awesome batch of pulled pork. Was a 2.5lb pork ribeye roast, put in the crockpot with some BBQ sauce (I use Stubbs), gluten-free soy sauce, and some seasonings, cooked on high for 1.5 hours, then low for 7 hours. Served over mashed potatoes and baked beans on the side. Eating that for dinner again today, I may make sandwiches.
  23. Yep- I think poofy flour dust is the culprit here. May want to institute a rule of prebaked gluteny stuff only, or use things like premade cookie dough that don't have loose flour on them.
  24. Yep, no kissing the gluten eater, haha! My husband is really sweet and will stop me. Maybe you can buy your husband a set of special beer pilsner glasses to drink from? I want to say you can get them at a place like walmart or target in a set of 4 for under $25.
  25. Any type of swelling like that in response to salt intake should warrant a visit to your primary care doctor. Even though the swelling isn't presenting itself in the most typical way, you may be at risk of a cardiac event if you ignore it.
