  1. Sooooo, did you ship me some?!! :D :D
  2. Jules, we aren't anything like an ignorant family, we are the opposite. There are seasoned gluten-free veterans here who are seeing you get sick when you get accidental gluten consumption, and we are trying to bless you with our knowledge so you don't become ill. There are countless threads here where people have asked "What do I do at this event?", so...
  3. Sonic definitely fries everything in a shared fryer with breaded items, and they have a lot of tantalizing breaded and fried items. You definitely got very very badly CC'd there. Check out their website and click on our food, then allergen info, brings up this: Open Original Shared Link Their Chili is listed as containing wheat and gluten, as well...
  4. Awesome example for the newbies Thanks for posting! Next time we go on a vacation, I think I am going to buy a hot plate and a small skillet to make real meals with... the hotel doesn't have to know, LOL!
  5. Addy do you have a good horchata recipe? I haven't had some in forever and the store bought ones are all crappy. Of course I can no longer go get some at all the great Mexican places around here or I would crawl out of my skin not able to eat their delicious food! I made nachos today, dropped half the meat on the floor soooo... a sprinkling of meat...
  6. Hi Blu, Have you contacted the manufacturer? Usually they will be able to give you the best, most up to date information. If you do, post your response here to help others Welcome to the forum!
  7. You may want to contact the company itself, that is where you hopefully will get the most accurate response.
  8. That would be fine with me I know I am all kinds of screwed up, right?! LOL... I just really try to focus on what I have and be grateful for that Tonight is leftover pot roast. Served on a bed of mashed potatoes with gravy.... I think I could eat that every day. I ate all the carrots already so I will throw some green beans on the side. We will...
  9. Your topic can be seen by everyone. Most Celiacs do not have a topical reaction to gluten and only have to worry about gluten getting in their mouth. So putting your post in the super sensitive category (which you are) lets people know so it prevents the huge number of replies that would tell you that you don't have to worry about gluten-free hair dye unless...
  10. They are really nice to use if you have something that will stick or is oddly shaped. A lot of the gluten-free pizza crusts stick like crazy so I could totally see them being helpful. I had a heart shaped silicone pan that made it really easy to get stuff out of for cakes, cookie hearts, or rice crispie hearts. Had to toss it with my diagnosis though ...
  11. I was about to mention gallbladder! What you describe is classic symptoms. Like cyclinglady said, ask for a HIDA scan if what they do shows nothing... you may have to do it at a follow up with your regular doctor. I hope you feel better soon and at least are getting some pain meds! Let us know.
  12. My pot roast turned out great! I just love carrots that are cooked in the beef juice... I just love carrots, period. LOL Hi Patti! IVIG is not used for Celiac. I have common variable immunodeficiency with low IgG and IgA and reduced vaccine response. So I get a 40 gram IVIG infusion every 4 weeks. I also have lupus. IVIG can be utilized...
  13. I love cherries! They freeze really well, too. They add really good sweetness to smoothies by just adding a few. Today we had grilled chicken, green beans, and potatoes. (Those bacon au gratin steakhouse potatoes from a box.... one of the few box things I can/will make, lol!) I prepared a pot roast for the crock pot so all I have to do is turn...
  14. When I was 16, we were making a 7 hour road trip to visit family that we do fairly often. This time it was special, because the girlfriend who my dad eventually married was with us, and we were getting in some quality time together. We got stuck in traffic on I-20 in rural Louisiana, and sat in the same place for 3 hours since there was a jackknifed truck...
  15. Welcome to the forum, Linzi! I moved your topic to a special section we have for Celiacs who are super sensitive, so you can get some insight from others who have the same sensitivity problems as you. I am not sure on the hair dye thing but I am sure some of our ladies will be able to help you out!
  16. Good point about the interruption as well. I used to always buy the cheap $20 or so insurance when I booked a flight, but now with all my crazy health conditions documented it is pretty much futile, lol. I would probably still get it if it were a high cost trip or international.
  17. What on earth???!!! If it is a large group practice, you may be able to speak to the practice manager and try to get them to make an exception, but if they have such ridiculous policies it is likely you will be needing to change doctors.
  18. Definitely get her into an ENT as well as the audiologist. There IS such a thing as autoimmune hearing loss, you can ask for her to be tested for the antibodies since she already has a history of autoimmune problems. Here is a good page on it: Open Original Shared Link When I was a teenager, one of the many symptoms of my autoimmune problems (I...
  19. My gnocchi turned out great. I made a royal mess in the kitchen, though. Had a poofy spill of xanthan gum, and like an idiot I applied water to the dust to help clean it off. Oh boy....
  20. Yes, yes they are. I can't buy them anymore because I lose control and eat the whole thing!
  21. For anyone just learning gluten-free baking, I highly recommend using a flour blend, and the recipes that the company has developed for it, first. There are a few companies that make flour blends, and I like the ones that have xanthan gum/guar gum already in them. My favorite thing to use is the King Arthur Flour gluten-free Baking Mix: Open Original Shared...
  22. Not everyone severely reacts, and symptoms vary widely. Some people don't get GI symptoms at all, and may get fatigue, brain fog, and neurological symptoms. Each person has their own set of symptoms, and over the years they can change either increasing or decreasing in severity. So, no, you aren't crazy.
  23. The first thing to look at with the trip insurance policy is to see if they have an exclusion for pre-existing conditions. Generally, the cheap trip insurance you can tack on with an online booking is going to have this kind of restriction. If you went out of your way to buy independent trip insurance since you were going out of the country and such, you...
