  1. That sounds really good, Anna! Last night our burgers had filled us up too much so I am making the homemade gnocchi today instead. Going to serve it with broccoli and a simple tomato and cheese sauce.
  2. My understanding is that this child has not yet been diagnosed or had problems in the past, but because other people in the household have to be gluten-free, she is eating gluten-free meals with the rest of them, and only eating gluten outside of the house, so the OP is wanting to know if that amount is enough. I would say to be on the safe side, if your...
  3. Your gluten challenge may not have been long enough after being gluten-free for so long. University of Chicago Celiac Disease center recommends 12 weeks for bloodwork, 2 for endoscopy. Open Original Shared Link Also, there are a few rare things that can cause the lymphocytes and a false positive: Open Original Shared Link Also, if you are able...
  4. Did you thoroughly cook the meat and avoid cross contamination from raw meat juices to the cooked meal? Have you tried eating just tomato sauce without the ground beef to see if your problems with tomatoes are recurring?
  5. OMG that friskies commercial is great! "The dot is real, you CAN catch it!"
  6. In my area we have Kroger and HEB (a TX chain), and they both have the brown gluten-free shelf tags. It is helpful to attract your eyes to the right thing whenever there are thousands of things on the shelf. I still sometimes pour over a label and then 5 minutes later see "gluten-free" written on it, LOL
  7. What are the other sources? It is definitely important to look at the validity of the source in this circumstance.
  8. I don't know about freezing fudge... I know it lasts a long time at room temp, and can't think of anything that would make it a no. Maybe try freezing a small piece to see. Today we grilled burgers for lunch, and for dinner I am going to wrangle my husband for manual labor to help make home made gnocchi. Buying it gluten-free is like $6 for 2 servings...
  9. For the immunoglobulins, did you get a total serum IgA and IgG done to make sure there isn't a false negative?
  10. Replace dog with cat and you have my house!
  11. I feel your predicament, as I also have no telling GI symptoms. In the end, there is a level of trust that you have to place in companies. For me, I will spend the extra dollar on something that is made by a company who takes the time to give clear allergen information. Certified gluten-free stuff is the way to go if you can, but once you get into more...
  12. Haha, yes! I ate there once or twice back in the day and in a place like Texas with good mexican food everywhere, it is subpar. And now I know the secrets to making my own delicious tacos... I am going to spoil myself to death!
  13. Sick people need to stay at home and not infect me! This is why I am a germaphobe, lol! Has anyone tried the ancient harvest mac n cheese? They have all three kinds at my grocery store, but after trying the horrible deboles one long ago, I am hesitant to eat anything but the good 'ol annies classic one. Tonight for dinner will be grilled chicken...
  14. Mmmmm pizza.... I see dominos ads quite frequently. Who hates seeing food ads on TV? Right now there is a commercial running for On the Border for their taco special and it has a guy saying "Taco! Taco! Taco Taco Taco Taco Taco Taco Taco Taco......" with pictures of delicious tacos, LOL.
  15. Kale lasts longer than other stuff in the fridge. I will wash it, pre chop it up, and keep it over a week. And as the others have said, it freezes but loses that freshness to it, so its good then in cooked/pulverized servings. If you like smoothies, kale goes great in them (spinach, too) and you just toss a handful in there. You can buy bags of frozen...
  16. For a specific example with the Klondike bars, looking at ingredients on the website, the Krunch one has malt extract (barley). Generally anything with crisped rice in it is going to be suspect and likely to contain barley malt. Also, barley malt seems to be near the end of ingredient lists a lot. The oreo ones obviously contain gluten, in the list it...
  17. I totally feel with ya. A couple people I know sell body wraps and all these crazy weight loss supplements, one girl is so pushy I hid her facebook feed. She posts before and after pictures of herself and the after looks no different... or worse. So odd, lol. Eating vegetables is too hard, I am going to shell out mad cash for a magic pill instead!
  18. I just want to throw out there that I shop at Kroger occasionally, and went there today to get a few things, and noticed one or two products of theirs that used to be labeled gluten-free not labeled as such anymore. So remember it is extra important to read ingredient lists. Now I am very sad I don't have a source of that chicken meat seasoned for fajitas...
  19. I stopped by my fav gluten-free balery after an appointment today, mmmm chocolate cupcake! No idea what I am going to make for dinner, forgot to thaw something out. I guess hot dogs it is!
  20. It is likely the steroids that would affect the test are going to be ones you take orally, such as prednisone or other oral corticosteroids. Inhaled/sprayed corticosteroids like nasal sprays and breathing medicines are not going to have nearly as much effect on the body systemically. Those can be used continually without the classic long term side effects...
  21. I'm making stir fry, too! Going to try out two of the SanJ sauces instead of the usual making my own from scratch.
  22. My goodness, what a bumpy ride. Congrats on the new addition though, and best wishes for everything to hopefully be a little more smooth with your little darling :)
  23. Didn't have to write them, they have info on the website: Open Original Shared Link Click gluten information, weird web site format. Anything with gluten will be listed. They do clarify any malt is barley.
  24. Interestingly, I saw a commercial for Klondike bars the other day and have been thinking about them since. Also saw a commercial for a local ice cream and burger place that has chocolate lava cake sundaes. Yay summer food advertising! I will write klondike and ask them, now for my own curiosity. But as Karen said, unilever is really good with their labeling...
