I have been eating there all week and other than some fatigue I am still ok. I get the food from the low carb section. The baked fish, roast beef, baked potato, apple sauce, carrots, and green beans are safe. CB and picadilly have been safe so far ... the chef at picadilly actually steamed brocolli for me since theirs has butter in it ... I...

ARCHIVED My Unusual Symptoms
marciab replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I went through this too. I found a direct relationship between that feeling and the vitamins I was taking. It would hit me 2 hours after I had taken them. And these are Poly Vi Sol infant vitamins. I had to cut the dose in half. Other than that, I remember feeling sooooo energized at times. Especially in the mornings when I woke up. That has... -
I would get up to 10 on my abdomen over a 2 day period and they would last for about a week, clear up, and then come back again. They were tiny, with an extremely itchy oozing blister that would crust over and then ooze again for a couple of days. The top would come off extremely easy. I also would get a few on my scalp that were extremely itchy, but...

ARCHIVED My Unusual Symptoms
marciab replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I didn't have panic attacks, but I can relate to never feeling relaxed. I just thought all of these years that I was antsy or hungry or bored. Come to find out, I was ADHD and going gluten free got rid of that feeling. It took a good 10 - 12 months of the gluten free diet with very little possibility of contamination for me to be able to sit at a table... -
My daughter's doctor prescribed a narcotic cough syrup when she had whooping cough. The first one did not work for her, but the 2nd stronger one did. Marcia

ARCHIVED How Does Everybody Afford This Diet
marciab replied to hfcny's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I eat whole foods and whole gluten free whole grains. And I buy most of it in bulk from the health food store .. be careful with the bulk bins though .. you only want to buy from these if you are certain that there is no cross contamination ... I just eat the gluten free specialty foods from time to time as a treat. I no longer make the breads... -

ARCHIVED Probiotics, Enzymes Confusion
marciab replied to cathzozo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks, I am still grinning from ear to ear. And still walking normally Be careful which kefir you get, I know plain Helios is gluten free. If you decide to try the papaya, I found out somewhere along the lines, that the seeds in the papaya when dried are also good digestive enzymes. Just clean them up a little, wipe away the fruit pieces... -
I noticed you said that you had trouble getting food down. I do that from time to time too. It feels like there is a lump on my throat and food just comes right back up on me. And I get full quickly. When this happens, I found I can digest creamy things, like smoothies, baked potatoes, sweet potatoes are good too, cream of chicken soup, etc. If I...

About a year ago, I noticed that I could handle eggs every 3 days, then as time went on I could only handle them once a week, and now not at all. The last time I ate eggs I had the worst gas ever. I tried cooking them all different ways and that did not help either. Marcia

ARCHIVED Probiotics, Enzymes Confusion
marciab replied to cathzozo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It's been awhile since I researched and tested probiotics and enzymes, but I had problems with these too. I use Helios plain Kefir for probiotics (even though it is dairy, it calms my stomach ) available health food stores and is gluten free and I eat papaya, mango or pineapple for the other enzymes. I'm not up on all of the kinds of enzymes, but... -

ARCHIVED Healing Time After Glutening
marciab replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
We are the lucky ones. I have a relative that is still clueless and having "D" everyday. Her GI has her taking imodium like it was normal. BTW, if you have not gotten the other common allergens out of your diet, now is a good time. This diet is easy if you stick to whole foods. Fruits and veggies do not have labels. -

ARCHIVED Healing Time After Glutening
marciab replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It apparently makes a HUGE difference for me. I got some gluten the day before yesterday and I have one small, but ominous blistery looking bump on my abdomen, a couple of itchy bumps on my scalp and last nite I was jerking and had horrible insomnia. I was doing great up until then. I noticed back in September 2005, when I first went gluten free... -

ARCHIVED Peripheral Neuropathy
marciab replied to faegan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My nueropathy in my arms and hands got worse for awhile after going gluten free. I had a fluttering feeling in my arms and hands for a couple of months that was very annoying, but it is gone now. Thankfully, it was driving me buggy. I was thinking that the reason your nueropathy increased could be that you are allergic or sensitive to something else... -
Carrie, She hasn't figured it out yet. And from what I heard, it is common not to know what does it. When she was 10 and had her first reaction, we were told at the hospital that we may never figure out what caused it. The only new thing she had eaten that day, actually just prior to breaking out in hives, was chocolate chip cookie dough. Only...

ARCHIVED New, With Many Questions....
marciab replied to HeatherR's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"My symptoms are so many, and on and off, but the absolute worst one is fatigue. I sleep all night long, and will be so tired when I get up that I will sleep for another four hours or so, almost daily. I have balance issues, dizziness, vertigo, shooting pains, nerve pain, swelling of my hands, feet, ankles, and calves, numbness, tingling, brain fog, problems... -
Carrie, My daughter is going through this too. Her face and neck swell and her chest gets tight if she comes into contact with something she is severely allergic to. We've been to the ER 4 times over the last 8 years, but only had to call 911 once. Once for hives and trouble breathing - unknown origin. The next time for a man of war sting,...

ARCHIVED Im Still Sick And Very Scared..
marciab replied to amethystium-sky's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
"Basically go back to basics.... cut out all allergens and go back to fresh meat/fish and vegetables ... If your villi are still damaged then give them the best chance to adsorb nutrients and at the same time don't put anything in you that might aggravate them.... be ultra strict... that is no eating out and nothing you even suspect might be contaminated... -

ARCHIVED If Your Ana Was Positive, What Were The Results
marciab replied to jenvan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi there ... I deleted the first one. So much for rushing ... My daugher's ANA was 1:80 at age 10. All tests came back negative. And 1:640 at age 18. All tests came back negative again. So, we were told that there is nothing to treat her for. Just to keep an eye on her and if she gets very sick to bring her back. Hope this helps. Marcia -

And not walking into people because I lost my balance. Or getting dirty looks because I had to walk soooo slow. These shows are packed. And then there was the problem of feeling like the ground was moving under my feet while I was standing still. That made shopping a real challenge. Try carrying on a conversation with someone while you are trying...
