  1. Just add fatigue to this and you have described me to a tee. I had the digestive problems (IBS ) , the rash and the nuerological symptoms. Luckily most of my symptoms, including my nuerological complaints have been resolved by going gluten-free. And the fatigue was gone comletely for 2 weeks straight in Oct, so I remain hopeful. Marcia
  2. I was not tested for candida because I heard so many conflicting stories about the tests. But since I had symptoms, I treated it anyway and still do just to be sure. I just drink plain Kefir and pau d'arco tea regularly and limit my carbs. So far so good. Marcia
  3. Happy Birthday Oh, to be 29 again... Have a great day !! Marcia
  4. I would still be 100 % sick if I had not gone on the elimination diet too. I react to soy, dairy, corn and eggs. And anything fried. It takes time to heal, but if you are still having symptoms, chances are you are sensitive to one of the other foods listed above and won't feel better until those are gone. In order to fully take advantage of the elimination...
  5. It could be allergies. I've just figured out that my allergies show up in my throat in the form of post nasal drip and cause my throat and ears to hurt. I always thought allergies came in the form of a runny nose, eyes or sneezing until recently.
  6. I was googling wheat free bread recipes, found the word gluten, googled gluten and wala ... I have been here ever since ... Love this board ... I would have never figured out this diet without this board ... Marcia
  7. I did this all last month while I was running around and eating out everyday ... I didn't think it was from gluten, but now I am wondering. It has stopped now that I am back home and not getting cross contaminated. Funny thing is that it would go away immediately if I ate a little of a sugary candy cane and some nuts... I had to have a high sugar exposure...
  8. Mine was related to saturated fats like butter and any cooked oil. I don't know why, but these come right back up on me. The buttered popcorn at the movies was the worst. I can have raw healthy fats though like EVOO, flax and grapeseed oil ... who knows ... hope this helps ... marcia
  9. I was wondering about this too. I have been on the immune support message board and the wemove msg board telling them about my success with the diet because I want to try to help some one who has been misdiagnosed. But, I would have believed my docs if either one of them had told me that there was no way I was a celiac if I had not reacted positively...
  10. I had a similar experience to Jenny. I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome 16 years ago and told merely that nuerological problems were normal. I had myoclonus, trouble with walking, visual disturbances, headaches and severe pain literally from head to toe. I must have seen 5 different nuerologists in the first year who all told me they didn...
  11. Happy Birthday !! What a thoughtful gift !! Marcia
  12. I was going to recomend the Bob's red mill chocolate too. I liked his banana bread recipe on the back of the gluten-free flour too though .... Marcia
  13. I am interested in going to the mtg this Sunday and was wondering if anyone else was going. I would love to actually see another celiac. Also, the website did not say which room the mtg is in ? Just out of curiousity, how much of Fl does this cover ? Marcia
  14. For the last 16 years I have spent many days falling asleep off and on all day long and then sleeping like a log at nite too. I had to stay at home when I was like this because I just couldn't function. My doctor just considered it a normal part of chronic fatigue syndrome and told me to rest because my body needed it. Wrong !!!! I figured...
  15. I had all of the same medical problems your mother did before going on this diet and they are gone now. The visual problems went away at the same time my walking got normal (1 year of being on this diet).. I'm not that familiar with the Atkins diet. sorry ... Marcia Edited to note that not all of my symptoms are gone anymore ... 12/6/06 RATS !!...
  16. Rats, I missed it. Did they say anything about people with celiac being misdiagnosed with CFS or having severe nuerological problems ? I would have never thought before this past year to listen to this broadcast if I only heard the word celiac.
  17. Boy can I relate I went through this several months ago with I gave up my sleep meds that I had been on for 16 years. I knew that I didn't need the meds anymore because I could sleep all nite long every few days, but I was so obsessed with sleeping / not sleeping / how will I feel in the morning if I don't sleep that I was driving myself buggy...
  18. Did you get whole grains or processed ? I have problems with most processed / refined grains, so I stick to the whole grains. These can all be cooked just like you do rice. I prefer my grains well cooked so I use 2 and 1/2 cups of water to 1 cup of grains. It takes approximately 30 minutes on low to cook. You have to watch for reactions...
  19. I noticed my "D" and "C" was better within a couple of days too. So this is real. Congratulations. It will be easier to stick to the diet now that you have seen results
  20. I was diagnosed with FM and CFS 16 years ago and had noticed some improvement in my FM pain after adding salmon to my diet years ago. However, since going gluten and other food sensitivity free, I am hardly ever in pain. Or stiff. The pain I am having nowadays is from overdoing it after all of those years laying around.
  21. Key, I can empathize with you because I remember how frustrating it was sticking to the diet before I realized how much better I felt on it. Now, I am just happy to know how to avoid feeling sick all of the time. You really should try the elimination diet. Just keep in mind it is a temporary change. Once you are feeling better you can add old foods...
  22. In researching nutrients, I found several sites that said fats / omegas were necessary for our brains / nuerotransmitters to function. Also, the mind science.org site mentioned other foods that contained nutrients that our brains need to function . Blueberries, leafy greens, etc. Maybe each of us just need to find the right combination of nutrients before...
  23. Mine got a little better after 6 months, but it has only been in the last month that I can sleep all nite and wake up rested. So, one year for me ... marcia
  24. I went gluten free in September 2005 and as of September 2006, I have been walking normally for the first time in 16 years. I could walk short distances most of the time, but my legs felt weak and I was having to use a motorized cart to go grocery shopping. My myoclonus (seizures) started getting better back in April 2006 and now it only happens occasionally...
  25. I was wondering about all this too. I can't stop eating and I eat meat protein, fiber, fats, nuts, etc. I am hungry again 1 hour after each meal. I go 2 hours at the most without eating something. I think it is because I am feeling so much better and busy all of the time. I sure hope this levels out soon. So far, no weight gain. Marcia
