  1. I think your lotion and perfume ideas are great! I love the smell of vanilla--and I haven't been able to use any sort of fragrence for years now. Even in my 20's, perfume would make me almost faint. I just bought some Kiss My Face Pure Olive Oil Soap this weekend and used it this morning. It made my skin feel so nice and clean, yet moisturized. The soap...
  2. Hi Judy --Thought I'd add my greetings and best wishes to the list! Hope today has brought even more healing. I will talk to you later, buddy
  3. Ah yes--the land of our people And Ursula, you are a constant source of wonderful, practical information--you have helped me so much!
  4. Yes. Hershey's is a company that will clearly list any gluten ingredients, and not hide them under names like natural flavor--so their stuff is fine. Nestles is the same. Dove Chocolate is safe, too. You always need to read labels, though--there are chocolates that do contain gluten.
  5. Ursula--Wow. You would think that after a time of not feeling better while consuming these "low level" gluten foods, they would come to the realization that something isn't right. I guess that the suggestion that they try naturally gluten-free foods and then see how they feel is something they don't want to consider--and why they attacked you. Well, you...
  6. Lister--it's very common to feel fatigued while healing. I still have days that I could go to bed by 6 PM! When I was a few months into it, like you are, I was tired pretty much all the time--for the first 3 months, I felt like a wet dishrag most of the time! There's no way around it--you have to give these things time When you think about it, your body...
  7. Another thought about the toothpaste--most of them have Sodium Laurel Sulfate in them. This is a detergent that can be irritating to some people. Health food type stores carry brands that do not have this ingredient--you need to read the labels, though. Colgate toothpaste does not have gluten.
  8. Pacific Brands Rice Milk is gluten-free. Please don't chance the Rice Dream--when I first went gluten-free, and knew next to nothing about how to do so (I had yet to find this board) I tried Rice Dream in a cup of tea. Got sick soon thereafter. That's when I noticed the .002 warning. That was also the day I deceided that I had to read every label! ...
  9. I am the only Celiac--my husband and 21 year old son are not. (25 year old lives in his own home). This would have been more difficult when they were little. As it is, we have one cabinet and one drawer for gluten foods--cereals, crackers, etc. They are located close together at one end of the kitchen. The two guys eat what they want for breakfast, and...
  10. Ursula--Those were my symptoms at her age. I wish that someone in my life would have come forward and cared to get to the bottom of it like you do. I think because the doctor couldn't find anything wrong with me, and the time that it was--it was "easier" for everyone to say I was "sensitive" and go on about our lives. I often wonder what shape I'd be in...
  11. It does--you don't want to keep it around much longer than 3 months or so.
  12. Can you eat popcorn? You could pop it at home, and carry some with you in a zip-lock bag. I was going to also suggest Lara Bars, but noticed you said no nuts. Maybe ham and cheese roll-ups, gluten-free pretzels/cheese, or cut up veggies in place of the fruit sometimes.
  13. My God--that sounds horrible
  14. That is a great tip! I always replace my mascara every couple of months--and since I'm not working now, I don't use it as quickly as I used to. I will look for the mini!
  15. Julie--I don't need it yet, but I plan to try the Ecco Bella Mascara. I was at Whole Foods yeterday, and saw that they carry quite a bit of their products. I didn't look too long--husband was with me! I also want to try their lip stick.--Have you used it? Good?
  16. Carla--If no one has any suggestions (I don't know what to offer), I would email Scott and ask him directly.
  17. No problem I'm not sure about Sephora, but QVC has a 30 day guarantee on everything (even makeup), so if you order the wrong color, or you just don't like something, you can return it, no questions asked.
  18. Yes, that's what I was thinking, too.
  19. Floridian--I get mine at QVC--here's the link-- Open Original Shared Link Look to the left of the page, and click on Bare Escentuals-- They also carry it at Sephora--I think Julie ordered hers from there earlier today. We talked about it in the "What Make up Works For Everyone" (or something like that) thread. Open Original Shared Link Discussion...
  20. Hey Floridian--that's great news! Have you tried Bare Escentials? The eye shadows are just pure minerals.
  21. Mug Root Beer and Cream Sodas are gluten-free.
  22. Hi Rachel's Mom! Very nice to meet you You have a great daughter--such a sweet person and an inspiration to us here. Rachel will get her health back--I just know it! Both of you are very fortunate to have each other
  23. Trents, you are right. At least as far as I know--gluten causes an autoimmune reaction in Celiacs--it's not a problem with digestion of the gluten that is the problem (strictly speaking of Celiac, and not other sensitivites or allergies).
  24. I think they were just being honest. I am sorry that you were hurt, though , probably the words of their legal dept.! Actually, I appreciate this type of response because they are saying that any gluten ingredients will be listed on the label--along with any of the top allergens. From a mainstream company, where we know there could be CC, this is as good...
  25. Bully4You--thank you for the information! I'm definately going to look for the salt--it sounds great. It's nice to know about the seasoning mix, also.
