  1. Vincent--for lunch, why not try a sandwich of sliced turkey or ham with some lettuce and tomato? I agree that you need to eat a good breakfast that includes some protein. Breakfast can also be leftovers from last night's dinner. A midmorning snack of nuts then would be good. I would not get too hung up on trying to be perfect with the whole thing. Eating...
  2. There was a discussion about this book on the board-- Open Original Shared Link
  3. Ha--got out just in the nick of time
  4. Maybe I'd better take a nap this afternoon--get rested up for tonight
  5. Just bumping this--tonight's the night!
  6. I only bake gluten free, also. I don't even keep wheat flour in the house--no need to! I agree with Julia--wherever the flour lands (everywhere), that surface is contaminated. Too big a risk, in my opinion.
  7. I just got off the phone--Sally Hansen Diamond Strengh No Chip Nail Color is gluten free.
  8. Hi Carrie--I had a very similar thing happen to me Saturday night, also. I went to bed around 10 and about 1 AM woke up with stomach cramps. I ended up in the bathroom with D, gas (bad) and cramping that lasted for around 45 minutes or so. I felt nauseous, but did not throw up. Finally went back to bed feeling dizzy and exhausted. Yesterday (Sunday)...
  9. Insurance covered 80% of my mouth guard--it's still in good shape after over 2 years.
  10. Gosh Vincent--what next!? Seriously, I have had to cut way back on fruit. The only thing I really do right now is a small glass of apple juice in the morning. I love orange juice, but it is too acid for me now. Same with banana, blueberries, and strawberries. If I drink grape juice two days in a row, I get a canker sore. I do sometimes eat an apple...
  11. Chrissy--I'm so sorry, I wish there was more I could say or do. Sending good thoughts, prayers and a hug your way.
  12. Jaten--I keep it sliced in the refrigerator, and use it for toast, sandwiches--anything, really. It's excellent toasted, and even untoasted, it holds together better than others I've tried. It has a nice crust, and the inside is very "normal breadlike". I don't know how it would be if you used the milk--probably denser? One thing I learned making these...
  13. I don't think I've ever seen Kraft Peanut Butter....
  14. My favorite so far is The Gluten Free Pantry French Bread Mix. I mix it up in my Kitchenaid and use water instead of milk. It's dairy free that way, and unlike a lot of breads, has no tapioca, which I am sensitive to. It tastes (and smells) really good! I bake it, slice it and store it in the refrigerator.
  15. I suffered from anxiety before I was diagnosed. Back then, I had no idea what was wrong with me, and it did not seem to come on after eating--it was just always there. Slowly, over several months gluten-free, it has gotten much better. If I am glutened, it comes back.
  16. I remembered that you mentioned you were going for this test--thanks for letting us know, I was wondering how it all went. I wish that there was more that could be done--hopefully the treatment will work for longer than they expect--maybe even enough time for them to think of something else. I really hope so.
  17. The person to ask about this is Floridanative. She knows a lot about the restaurants in that area.
  18. Oh my--I just thought of something, too. Right around the time I got sick enough to quit my job, we had our basement finished! There was tons of drywall dust--and it got everywhere! I remember distinctly literaly falling over while painting some bookshelves down there while the dust was still all over the floor (and probably still in the air). M-m-m,...
  19. Wellshire Farms, Hormel, and Oscar Mayer bacons are all gluten-free.
  20. Someone here posted not too long ago that Wal Mart's version of "claritan" was gluten-free. It my be worth checking to see if it was also casein free--much cheaper.
  21. Hi and welcome! The reason you need to be concerned with shampoos, soap, lotions, body powder, ect. is because it is so easy for those things to find their way into your mouth. It only takes a microscopic particle of gluten to cause a reaction. Early on, I glutened myself with a hair gel that contained wheat--I bit a fingernail shortly after using it and...
  22. Nini--BRAVO!!!! That was a great interview, and you were fantastic! I got goose-bumps when you talked about the chocolate chip cookie! You should be very proud
  23. I never had reflux until I was gluten-free for several months. It was about this time that I also began to really experience additional food intollerances. After doing well for a while gluten-free, everything seemed to bother my stomach and give me reflux. I did a 3 week course of Prevacid--stopped due to side effects. I have spent the last several months...
  24. I got mine at Whole Foods.
  25. I couldn't have said it any better than Debbie. I also met my husband in 1974! Her and my stories are very similar--only I am the one with the ongoing mystery health problems that turned out 20 years later to be Celiac. There are a lot of people out there like Debbie and my husband--those who commit to the person and then live up to their vows. It's not...
