  1. I don't do soy, either. When I make a stir fry, a few minutes before it's ready, I put in a small can of pineapple chunks with the juice. I stir it around until it comes to a boil, then thicken it with a little potato starch (you could use cornstarch) mixed with a bit of water.
  2. I am finding that I need the light brighter to read or see anything close-up. This started happening when I began to need reading glasses a couple of years ago. In my case, I think it's normal aging of the eye and presbyopia.
  3. The Tums website states that while they don't add any gluten to the product, they can not guarantee their suppliers. I, and some others here can't tolerate them. For gas, I use Phazyme Softgels (the quick acting ones are NOT gluten-free). My GI told me to use them--they do work , I only use if it's particularly bad.
  4. I was wondering how you were making out. So glad that everything is working out and you're gaining weight! I wasn't going to say anything, but since Nini did, I also wondered why you said that about 'only a handful of us', too. While it's great that you found your answers, that dosen't mean that we're all 'barking up the wrong tree'!
  5. That is so funny--I didn't know there were 2 versions! The no-egg one worked well for me, so I'm going to stick with it. The secret to that one is the pancake turner!
  6. David--Yes, that is what it means. Actually, unless a product is made in a dedicated facility, there is always a chance of CC.
  7. Somebody mentioned this yesterday--we got Parade on Saturday, so I read it then. At least a lot of people read Parade so that's good coverage.
  8. In the recipe that I saw, it said to wash off the chicken and leave it wet. Then roll it in the seasoned potato flakes. That's what I did. Like Judy said, after I coated the chicken, I put it in the pan with the melted Smart Balance skin side down. I let it bake 1/2 the time, and then flipped the pieces with a pancake turner--that kept the coating intact...
  9. Mini--I've never seen Trix on any gluten-free lists. Of course, I could have missed something
  10. Judy, when you get a chance, check your email!! I just sent you one and it had to do with the mayonnaise. I hadn't checked on here yet.
  11. Yep--me too!
  12. Ha Karen--me too--I would be petrified to get a tatoo! But then again, I scare easily
  13. Lynne--We'll miss you while you're gone! If anything "good" happens, I'll be sure to let you know when you get back
  14. Judy and Carole--That is why I stopped subscribing. I didn't think it was worth the price--also Judy, the actual newsletters didn't live up to the advertising. It just figures, though, that after I stopped getting it, she has an article that I would have been interested in!
  15. I have a related question--sort of the reverse--Can a bread machine that has been used for wheat bread not more than about 6 times be used for gluten-free breads? Momandgirls--sorry I didn't have an answer for you--I think one answer will work for both of us
  16. Tiffany--I'm glad that you had a nice time at the party. I do understand how you were a little put out by the slight lack of thoughtfullness. The irony of you helping out by loaning things for the party and then having to forgo the food and the chocolate is a bit ! But spending the day with friends, champagne, and best of all not getting glutened is...
  17. Vincent--the new picture of little Tymber is adorable! He is such a cutie
  18. I love Chelsea's new picture I love happy coincidences--how two different women from two different states can be on the same Celiac website late at night and realize that they both used to live in the same city, and graduated from the same high school. I love that this thread and even the "hate" thread have allowed me get to know all of you a little...
  19. mbg98--I know that Tylenol Fast Acting Capsules are not gluten free. Splenda is gluten-free.
  20. Stardust--I know what you mean about the Maybelline Mascara--I used it for years, then when I had to begin to read labels, I saw the wheat germ oil . I now use Bare Escentuals Mascara. In fact, all the makeup I use now is from them. Almost all of their makeup products are gluten-free. (they have a skinCARE line that is not, though). Also, if you haven...
  21. FF--Yes, peas are legumes. I am sensitive to legumes--I'm ok if I eat them no more than once a week or less. Peanuts, too But chocolate is just fine
  22. I found all of your opinions very interesting, also. Carole, Ursula and Tiffany--you all were very helpful to me. I just came back and re-read the entire thread. Thanks
  23. Headache can also be part of the healing process. Hopefully, they won't last too much longer
