  1. 1) Make a list of questions and have it in your hand - not pocket/purse - when you go in. 2) Role play the scenario ahead of time - either with a friend or just in your head. Practice it before you go in! (It really does help, at a neurologic level.)
  2. The antibodies a celiac produces to wheat ( and his/her own intestines) also attack the placenta. This is one reason that untreated celiac disease is linked to preterm labor.
  3. we've been eating sunflower seed butter here, since I didn't want to give my 9 month old nut butters of any variety yet. I find it quite tasty! (and so does she )
  4. You can't really be sure. You can try going back on gluten to have her tested. You can also take her gluten free again, see if things clear, and try another challenge. One time might be a coincidence; twice is much less likely.
  5. Try making pancakes from well blended meat. I haven't treied it yet myself, but google "chicken pancakes" and you'll find it. There are some good sights with recipes fr autistic kids with texture issues.
  6. Standard, non-certified gluten free, oats are contaminated in the growing, harvesting, and processing process. Significantly contaminated. Don't eat them. Certified gluten free oats are grown, harvested, and processed to be "gluten free", and are usually tested. But, because the oat protein, avenin, is very similar to the wheat protein, gliadin, approximately...
  7. For me, when something like that hits, I redirect myself. Find something else to occupy my mind. Maybe it's exercise, or a hobby, or meeting up with friends, or training my dog - something else that helps me shift gears from food.
  8. I would wash them a couple times and then use them, myself.
  9. Your symptoms have a significant overlap with reactive hypiglycemia. You may want to look into that, and try those dietary modifications as well.
  10. the main reason I said that is because a video cuts out the community of support people. That being said, yoga can still help with stress and anxiety. I understand shiva rae's prenatal video to be excellent, and you might be able to find it at your library. Don't discount, however, calling studios and seeing if they can work with you. Many Jane community...
  11. I was also going to suggest prenatal yoga. (I am biased, I've been teaching prenatal yoga for two years now.) I would suggest going to a class, NOT doing a video, because part of the idea of a class is to provide a community of women going through the same thing that you can get support from. Real human contact! I would also suggest talking to a therapist...
  12. You might see if the dairy is the issue (test it out), but it also overlaps with exercise induced asthma symptoms.
  13. For me, my headaches were partly postural, and working with a chiropractor (a PT could have done similar work, but possibly not all of it) and being mindful of my posture is important to reduce the tension on the muscles that pull on the skull (and lay over the blood vessels going into the head).
  14. Go through what she's eaten as best you can (talk to day care if she goes there, friends, etc.) to see if you can find a food source, but in the end, no, you can't really tell - particularly on diarrhea alone.
  15. Yes, wet food can be left out for a while. (My dog likes to graze. His food may be left out as long as 12 hours.) Feeding raw (even part time) doesn't have to be expensive - talk to the butcher at your local store for things thay have extra of that you can buy in bulk. At the least, bones are great, though it's wise to not generally leave pets alone with...
  16. ditto on the daiya recommendation
  17. Eh, if you eat anything with vanilla in it, you are almost certain eating something converted from wood pulp. (Commercial vanilla is almost always synthetically derived, though it is the exact same aromatic molecule as you'd get from a vanilla bean.)
  18. If that is ALL the lab reports say, then they didn't test for celiac. It is a very specific IgA and IgG test they need to run, not a "general" one.
  19. That's true - my hypoglycemia was worse during pregnancy, so I had to be very careful about carbs. Just brown rice on it's own would make me feel icky. Additionally, getting PLENTY of protein can help reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia. (Not eliminate it, but it helps.)
  20. Not everyone who has the genes gets it. It has not put me off kids, as you can see from my avatar. If she gets it, she gets it. There are SOOOO many things that are passed on to our kids - if not from genetics, then from culture, or from familial bad habits. Celiac is far from the worst thing I could pass on.
  21. Eat healthy, whole foods. Get plenty of vegetables, especially leafy green ones*. Stay gluten free, stay hydrated. I don't know that there's anything particularly special other than making sure that you are getting good nutrition, especially calcium, iron, vitamin C, and vitamin K. *It's possible to take too much folic acid in multiple supplements during...
  22. One good place to start with is the dirty dozen (reported by the environmental working group, updated every year). These are the dozen produce items that are highest in pesticide residue. Open Original Shared Link
  23. I was an RLS patient (with fibromyalgia, and I think the poor sleep from the RLS contributed SIGNIFICANTLY to the fibro) with low iron stores. They weren't below threshold, but they were on the low end. Treating it made a distinct difference. I stayed on Topomax until we decided to get pregnant, however, and that definitely helped a lot too.
  24. What I've noticed is that these wraps in particular do not always STAY in stock. They may well have been at the stores you revisited the first time, but not the second. Ask the customer service desk about them (at the stores you might have gotten them from). They can order them for you in particular, in most cases.
  25. How long the grieving process takes is different for everyone. The fact that there are more difficult things to deal with doesn't make this one any less difficult. Take the time you need, and look for the help you need. Depending on what it is that's making you most upset, perhaps it's just talking to family members. Maybe it's using this board as a resource...
